class for like 20 minutes no I'm it was

amazing and everybody just he's

wonderful you know he's a three-time

world champion Ballroom winner and uh he

he he is truly amazing so you worked

with him for a week solid and learning

no months months months you had more

than one dance with them oh yeah I

lasted six weeks on Dancing with a star

I meant with Louis cuz didn't you have

to have a different dancer uhuh you did

Louis the whole time uhhuh except one

night we we uh one week we had a switch

okay and I danced with Mark and Mark is

adorable he's he's so much fun but uh

Louie is incredible in you got lucky

yeah well I requested Louie I requested

him but um he's got an energy about him

that uh is unique yes yes you know even

though it is hard and people are
4:33
intimidated and we're scared and all

that it's for such a great cause isn't

it it is it is it's the one in mon was

for Alzheimer's that same one here you

know six leading cause of death in the

United States and and they call it the

long goodbye because these the long

people people their brain just atrophies

away but they live so there the

caretakers and their family take care of

them for six seven years and and uh they

they have no idea who they are who the

family is anymore and so as you go

through this you get to hear all the

stories yes everybody people come out of

the woodwork my grandmother had it my

grandfather had it my dad has it you

know and and it's amazing how many

people are affected and you just have no

idea I've never even really known much

about the disease up until now me either

I lost my parents when they were both

very young so you know it's something

that I've never had to deal with

firsthand

but the the friends of mine that have

say it's just

heartbreaking so hopefully you know what

we did this weekend the work that we did

you know I sent out I sent out hundreds

of letters and and emails and the people

that donated the most uh they were they

all had a personal story you know and so

I got to hear the stories who D all

right we had um three trophies that we

gave away in Mak uh one for the People's

that's right and the friend that I was

actually doing it for her daughter won

some of the other dancers are like

like right he shouldn't win it but it's

had I just went to a lecture from a

neurologist about it and I was shocked

Alzheimer's I go to my I go to one

continuing education lecture and the

local neurologist doggy neurologist is

giving a lecture on doggy Alzheimer's my

life has been Alzheimer's for three

months no so so they get it too and uh

they're uh there maybe what can we do is

anything we can do to prevent that John

don't know if feed a high quality food I

think in humans too it's going to be

that affects your heart uh also affects

raising blue uhhuh and he's 11 months

now so I feel like now what kind of dog

is blue black lab labs are so sweet oh

my God they're so sweet but I can't take

the shed and no it's black somehow the

hairs disappear a little bit better than

the than the tan lab y used to have a

yellow lab and those hairs would show up

yellow labs are my favorite they are so

somebody told me that Gus has what you

call a double

coat he's really his hair his fur is

kinky like the poodle yeah and where the

double doodle his is just waving yeah so

was called a double coat I don't know if

there's anything to that I'm am sure

have to keep him short because you can't

oh that he would just be one big fluffy

thing oh and he was beautiful but I

could he was one big mat I know they

turn when I had him finally shaved I

broke down and shaved him I had to I had

to grab the fur and pull it back while

the young lady was shaving him and it

held together it was like a blanket yeah

blanket uh now is it true I I read

something or heard something the other

day that we are wrong when we shave our

long-haired dogs for summer I what is

the truth on that one I can only imagine

is like taking a fur coat off a you in

the middle of summer I don't think

there's there's no negative to cutting

hair it's hair it's no different than

your hair or my hair it's the same thing

and whether you cut it or whether you

leave it long I don't think it matters

uh to in any health mode or anything

like that but in the Southeast you know

to have a giant fur coat on it's just I

think it's cruel so I think that I think

it is too all these dogs that are that

have so much hair I think you're doing

them a FL a real favor by helping them

much healthier that have animals they

petting a dog uh lowers your blood

through the good times it's easy to be

it's easy to be good but uh when you're

going through the bad times and you got

a dog next to you it that's when I got

Gus uh a few years back I went through a

very emotional part of my life and I

told Michael I said Lulu won't let me

hold her I said I have got to get me

something that I can hold and love and

that's when we got Gus and he is that so

obliging he is so that dog he wants me

touching him at all times uhhuh say you

quit brushing me Mama why'd you quit

brushing I'll tell you what I would

imagine Gus will give you three or four

years on your life if if you believe it

uh that I believe that uh you know I

can't I can't watch those commercials

that come on TV about the little abused

dogs I just have to run out of the room

I was in like I've been shot I was on

the board of the Humane Society for

eight years and uh I couldn't walk down

through the kennels you know I'd go to a

board meeting once a month yes but to

walk down those kennels and look at all

those little dogs and one of my clients

had a little puppy a black lab and he
24:35
was getting into trouble he had he uh at
24:38
three weeks of age he uh got his head

and arms stuck in a fence for a few

hours and he lost the nerve Supply to

one of his legs no and the next week so
24:48
you had to amputate it no no it came
24:50
back it came back uh there's still a
24:51
little it's I got blue of course but

there's still a little dysfunction in

that and then the next week he tried to

crawl underneath the fence cuz they put

chicken wire around it so he couldn't
24:59
stick his head through again and then he

sliced his other arm open uh trying to
25:04
he's a bad boy he was so the guy when he
25:06
brought him in for suture removal he
25:08
said you know I think this dog belongs

to a veter should belong to a
25:10
veterinarian and I was going through a
25:12
tough time in my life and I thought you

know I will I'll take this dog I have

never had more problems with a puppy you

know from Bad hips to Elbow issues to

skin issues to ear issu well it was that

dog's lucky day when you became his
25:26
daddy but I think I think you get the

purebred dog you get a you get a higher
25:32
likelihood of genetic issues because of
25:36
the Jean Pool is is is so much more

these are actually mixb dogs even though

they're bread and you paid for them

you've got a mixb dog and you've two of

the healthiest dogs in our practice

because I mean you know they don't have

any problems uh orthopedically you know

no allergies no no nothing so uh I like

the mixed breed dog and I think that

most of the time the mixed breed dog is

arrested because there's nobody out

there breeding mixed breed dogs except

nowadays now they're designer mixed
