hey friends welcome to this week's
0:02
podcast I'm here with my son Bobby's
0:05
best friend in the whole wide world
0:07
Bobby along with all the rest of his
0:10
family we think Sam on the moon this is
0:14
coach Sam Carter young he is a coach for
0:17
scared Savannah College of Art and
0:19
Design well and when did you and Bobby
0:21
meet Sam we were first meet we met back
0:25
in 2002 in August of 2002 so it's been
0:30
14 years 40 years we busy y'all have
0:33
been like yes like broken team which is
0:36
very quite brother just together yes
0:38
bear and now Bobby he first met you in
0:44
the gym beat me well he first met me
0:46
what happened was you had an employee
0:48
who worked for you and Bobby would see
0:50
this young man who I coached in high
0:52
school I trained it he would see him
0:53
come in so they were surreal and he was
0:55
like man let me do it right I just like
0:59
what are you doing what are you doing he
1:00
was like why I work out I get coached by
1:02
this guy Sam you say you needed me so I
1:04
obviously would tell him I want to meet
1:06
him so after Sunday service at the
1:08
Churchill said I went to your restaurant
1:10
when you're on Congress Street but not
1:11
doing the older ones a little bit a
1:13
little yes man yes I wanted if I was
1:16
like that's not what right there we hit
1:17
it off by right here so so after that
1:21
Bobby Knight ever since that day we've
1:23
been together ever since thank you say
1:26
yes I told to be at the gym the next day
1:29
and he came in the next day and I called
1:32
it when we he came in 6 o'clock after
1:34
work and I called our chicken and
1:35
because he smelled like chicken and
1:37
beans we're gonna wrestle now so now all
1:40
the other st. Barbara go work out late
1:42
that's half a chicken and beans rest I
1:43
was working after we do that's it so
1:47
that was the start of a wonderful
1:49
friendship just real yes me and Bobby I
1:53
tell you want Sam if I call Bobby and
1:55
said Bobby I am having open heart
1:58
surgery at 4 o'clock this afternoon he
2:01
would say well mom I'm meeting family
2:04
for work so I will see you after the
2:07
surgery but a little bit less well I'm
2:10
not kidding well Bobby will not me
2:13
yes well and I love him too and the
2:15
ordinance training you know when we get
2:17
together it is an event if people come
2:20
around and we actually go into the gym
2:21
now we have to ask the gym on turn the
2:24
music up because people want to listen
2:25
to what we have to say Oh Noel no wonder
2:28
you don't we turn that up turn it up
2:31
rejecting turns music up loud help save
2:33
this Rage Against the Machine so we turn
2:35
it up loud and we can talk and we lift
2:37
now it's working out where we get out of
2:39
it any but we get a lot of times when we
2:40
talk about Fitness we talk about food
2:43
here is a good recipe we talk about
2:45
finances getting good ideas our fan
2:47
which I got a swimming we're talking
2:49
about back and everything about fun is
2:52
all about them I hope I have kidded for
2:56
years that Sam is Bobby psychologist the
3:00
four psychiatrist ever way you look at
3:03
it but you've been a rock for Bobby a
3:06
steady rocking in Bobby's life and I so
3:09
appreciate it
3:10
so tell me if somebody wants to start
3:15
watching their weight and maybe doing X
3:19
Y how do you recommend they start
3:21
somebody like me say the most important
3:24
thing the first thing and this is where
3:25
people that you know even before when I
3:27
talked to Bobby about goals the same
3:30
before goals that comes before that
3:31
there's something more valuable than
3:33
money even more value than money not
3:36
oxygen and then something more valuable
3:38
in that we all pass on that I get Bobby
3:40
14 years ago time the vein that gets
3:43
people messed up and working on a team
3:45
cheering themself it's time because
3:47
we're busy
3:47
we're busy taking care of families ain't
3:49
we very taken care of kids we visit
3:51
singer everybody else so not today exact
3:53
but yourself so when I asked Bobby
3:55
that's why when we commit a time we're
3:57
going to go and every day we commit a
3:59
time tomorrow this is our time
4:01
well you have taught him that lesson way
4:03
looks like that's the whole time if you
4:06
have the time then we can it doesn't
4:08
matter our workouts have changed
4:09
honorarium at one point Bobby want to be
4:11
this strong big benchpress guy anyone I
4:14
want to be this I want to be that all
4:16
that we can the goals can change but the
4:18
parent has to stay consistent so most
4:21
important thing is look at your schedule
4:22
look at time and you commit this is the
4:25
reason why I can do it this
4:27
do you think people can achieve this at
4:29
home sign yes ma'am yes ma'am in their
4:32
own Fitness is free you can do it at
4:34
home you just listen and you can do it
4:35
at home the biggest thing is out there's
4:37
a couple of reasons to eat reasons why
4:39
people don't stay with workout program
4:41
they don't stick with the one people who
4:43
don't do them at all because the pain of
4:46
not doing it is not great enough the
4:48
reason why you don't do it is because
4:50
you have not the pink it's easy to sit
4:53
on the couch then for your doctor to say
4:55
hey if you don't do this you're not
4:57
going to be here if you don't do this
4:58
and this going to have we got an amputee
4:59
so the pain of not doing it I was great
5:02
enough you have to experience a pain so
5:04
what brings you so first if you're
5:05
healthy you're fine it seems me to do
5:07
that is what it is so what you do is you
5:11
have to figure out something to motivate
5:13
me to get you up it's a lot of time
5:15
that's a partner bobbi and I are we
5:17
connect because there's somebody there
5:18
waiting for you and so we get there and
5:20
so if you have to figure those things
5:22
out there number two reasons why people
5:24
don't stick your work on exercise we
5:25
kind of do it is that no measurables
5:27
she's reason why Bobby does successful
5:30
you can hold it for 14 years I've been
5:32
doing it regularly because people just
5:33
going to work out and they just exercise
5:35
but what we should just training you got
5:37
to have a measure but you got to figure
5:38
out life and you say I want to get in
5:40
you don't get excited over this do
5:42
you oh not at all but what is that I
5:46
think Sam is excited about exercise I
5:49
want me to shape what does that mean
5:51
that means if you want to if you want
5:55
you can do one pushup all right getting
5:57
in shape means you can do 10 push-ups
5:59
and then you can do 20 or you can do one
6:01
squat the best Spanx if you can do 20
6:03
squats or hundred squat that's the best
6:05
thing you can do better than anything it
6:08
will have me hate it we got we got to
6:10
take a break y'all I'm scared
6:15

6:19

7:09
or call one eight hundred six five nine
7:14
3300 that's one eight hundred six five
7:17
nine 3300 so there's another part that
7:24
you played in Bobby's life besides
7:26
exercise and you introduced Bobby in
7:30
Claudia his wife as well yes I did
7:33
then we camp in the gym in addition
7:35
Bobby was working out and not many times
7:37
you know I look at Bobby we're talking
7:39
with to the game we work and one day
7:41
here's we're gonna he jumped me and
7:43
destroyed he kept looking over but when
7:44
you look at exactly the dangerous area
7:46
of the trade I'll just tell me helping
7:48
you focused you got them and he kept
7:50
looking he was like what is that
7:51
beautiful name Oh Claudia Lavetta ah no
7:57
habla espanol so I called party over and
8:07
I invited 20 of our workers he had no
8:09
idea I think Bobby Bonilla come work out
8:11
with us this year
8:12
she thought that you know what I can't
8:14
lift the way to the Asians I know I
8:16
can't work up in yonkers the gaudiya I
8:18
need you to work out with us probably
8:23
got it up some amazing he took her from
8:25
this heating up from that he got he
8:27
that's it and that just those two
8:29
Spanish flies or just flying all over
8:32
I'm telling you what you brought a
8:34
wonderful girl into our family and our
8:37
life Sam by introducing those two I love
8:40
clouds so much she's a hot little look
8:43
you know a little spitfire real
8:46
something real something yeah real fun
8:49
much loving her Linda how much more
8:53
southern well listen I want you to show
8:56
us some things that we can do at home
8:58
yes I've seen you do things with like a
9:00
chair or something like that yes ma'am
9:02
we don't like for Sam to show us just
9:05
some things a girl's made well or me and
9:09
my that we can do at home over there
9:11
okay okay what are we yeah that's where
9:14
you sir know I'm ready to try all right
9:16
now you know Sam that I have all torn
9:19
you little smell nothing both need yes
9:22
yes I'm hopping along
9:24
yes sir all right but I want you to tell
9:26
me so the first one is simple simple
9:28
okay now if you have terminus you don't
9:30
have to go as far but I'm use your
9:32
glasses
9:32
all right okay I get them thank you all
9:34
right so the first one is just a regular
9:36
feet shoulder width apart
9:37
yes use it the best thing for your bug
9:40
not working the biggest strongest
9:42
muscles where's my cereal goes right on
9:45
yours yeah that might be the biggest and
9:47
strongest but I'll make it really strong
9:50
mommy got no muscle so what you want to
9:53
do is you president hand feature over
9:55
the block I'm gonna sit down your chair
9:57
okay I am your down in your truth it
10:02
hurts my knee now if a person needs then
10:05
don't throw on without follow me okay
10:07
Sarah and I stand up that's it okay what
10:09
you can do I know what you can do the
10:12
other bands along if you'll be quiet for
10:14
one second you can hear yeah you can
10:22
hear those awesome popping yes yes yeah
10:24
here alright so what you want to do is
10:27
you limit but as long as you doing
10:28
something look something's better than
10:30
alright so that's the legs that's the
10:32
list okay now now we can do the chest
10:35
alright so now you take your chair
10:37
around here again good
10:41
good so I can see heartbeat underneath
10:43
just alright okay bend at the waist and
10:46
Samak up that's it
10:47
and that way like your feet are right
10:50
right so to the being at the waist
10:52
stand back up that's your chest
10:53
shoulders and your triceps your chest
10:55
shoulder the trucks like that I got some
10:58
show ya yes that's heard it back over
11:00
here okay when I turn it back good now
11:03
we sit down and you can have you can
11:05
have a band or anything your hand but
11:07
this works just as good hands on the
11:09
front and roll to the back hands on for
11:11
a squeeze a back read your back squeeze
11:15
squeeze squeeze now see the jab the legs
11:19
your chest your back now that's through
11:21
your stomach okay I'm here mom okay Oh
11:25
opposite opposite - oh no the same or
11:30
opposite side you have to touch you just
11:33
do anything anything is better than
11:35
nothing
11:35
anything you do sets of 20 of these 20
11:39
squats okay when you push 20 arm pulls
11:42
20 abs you do three rounds at 20 22 23
11:45
times you do that every day
11:47
all right for the rest of your life yeah
11:49
and you will gotta keep you healthy
11:51
enough you can fit and grab and jump you
11:54
do what you can do everybody you know
11:56
you look at somebody else with a candy
11:57
that's fine but what you can do but you
11:58
measure yourself against you and you get
12:01
better so if you do in shape is not
12:03
necessarily as arbitrary out there but
12:05
in shape if you can do ten now you work
12:07
to do eleven and then you've worked at
12:09
this one and it was worth every the
12:10
stone way that works the stomach you
12:12
want to get you don't work for something
12:13
how do you get rid of a tire right put
12:15
your way I am push away push away from
12:17
the table the way I put it is ready at
12:22
all to put it in front of you push it
12:23
away put in a Freddie up push it away
12:25
okay whole-grain foods and that's what
12:27
ck yourself drink
12:28
I know module a gallon of water and you
12:33
know I'm not crazy about water but I do
12:36
love a diet so vidyard well busy you go
12:41
do you eventually get a taste for water
12:43
I know Bobby drinks a gallon a day
12:46
exactly because one of the things is
12:48
what water does so much stuff for you
12:49
right hydration right - sure like energy
12:52
and all eggs but you need to just
12:53
water yes the most important people
12:54
water and take your rest and sleep oh
12:56
yeah and you tarea
12:57
and yep young gonna be doing this when
13:00
yes yes yes yes and yes and yes and yes
13:05
yes and yes and yes we have a job
13:11
yo I hope this Sam's been some help to
13:14
y'all cuz I know I ain't going to him yo
13:18
going to the gym we're scared of Sam
13:21
boys all so I hope it's been a help do
13:25
y'all I'm really gonna try to do this
13:27
and I hope you will too I love you so
13:28
much morning
13:30
see y'all next week the space that you
13:34
live in really affects the way you feel
13:36
so my first recommendation is start by
