Hey y'all!
Bobby came over to cook up a tasty tailgating dish and cheer on Georgia (no Tech fans allowed!). We made Bacon and Cheese Jalapeno Poppers. They were tasty, but boy were they hot! Cooking with your kids is always fun, unless they make something that burns your mouth!
Tailgating dishes should be about fun, taste and good cheer (and not hurtin your Mama!). With out a lot of space or comfort to cook at the stadiums, it can be tricky coming up with dishes that you can make night before and have ready for the pre-game festivities. That was your challenge for the week, and y'all did a great job!
Congrats to the winners of this week's ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK Challenge: Kwanjai Burgess and Shawn Collins!
Love and Best Dishes,
Paula

0:17

0:19
challenging for tailgate that's right
0:21
tailgate challenge today
0:31
[Music]
0:32
now this recipe is in my brother and my
0:36
new cook what it's called the dean
0:37
Brothers take it easy yes and um this is
0:40
not my recipe y'all and again it's a
0:42
it's a tailgating recipe now for this
0:43
recipe we're going to want to use as big
0:44
of jalapenos as we can because what
0:46
we're going to do is we're going to
0:47
slice the top of it all we're going to
0:49
scrape out all the insides of this hen
0:51
and then we're going to stuff it cap it
0:53
wrap it in bacon and we're going to do
0:54
it on the grill woo that sounds very
0:56
good I love them little jalapeno poppers
0:59
and they really really good so I've
1:01
never had any like this bodyby and it
1:04
sounds wonderful I think what you're
1:06
talking about is like a um is a is a is
1:09
a fried jalapeno and that's probably
1:10
what people are used to and um we wanted
1:13
to do uh something a little bit
1:15
different I cannot warn y'all enough be
1:18
very careful when you're handling hot
1:21
peppers uh that's why we put on these
1:24
rubber gloves why don't you cut it in
1:26
half and I'll Hull them out for you and
1:29
you can begin to stuff them and get them
1:30
together okay well I've got this one
1:32
going for you we've got our skewers here
1:34
that are soaking in water so they don't
1:36
catch on fire whenever we put these on
1:37
the grill yeah yeah what we're doing is
1:39
we're cutting the tops off the jalapenos
1:41
as you can see and I'm actually going in
1:44
here and cutting out uh all of the
1:47
insides and just sort of hauling it out
1:50
we're going to fill this up we're going
1:51
to stuff this jalapeno completely going
1:53
to recap it we're going to put a wet
1:56
skewer through it and then we're going
1:57
to wrap this in bacon and we're going to
1:58
grill it on the uh on stuff top there
2:01
and I and I want you to know now a lot
2:03
of people don't know just because you're
2:04
eating a jalapeno pepper doesn't mean
2:06
that you're going to be really really
2:08
super hot we are hauling these out for a
2:11
couple of different reasons we're making
2:12
room for the filling that we're going to
2:13
put it in there but also when you take
2:15
the seeds and when you take that sort of
2:17
skeletal system that Cent out of the
2:19
center of the of the jalapeno then you
2:21
lose a lot of the heat too so these are
2:23
going to be pretty mild you'll have the
2:24
nice jalapeno flavor but you won't have
2:26
the bite cuz the seeds are going to be
2:28
and I don't mind a couple seeds cuz I
2:29
like heat I wouldn't mind I don't either
2:31
I don't mind a couple of seeds Okay you
2:34
ready let's start let's start filling
2:36
them up yeah you tell me what to stuff
2:38
them with and I'll start stuffing well
2:40
it's going to be a/2 cup of Monterey
2:42
Jack half cup of fresh cilantro chop
2:44
which we've got some right here okay and
2:46
uh our jalapeno peppers and then we're
2:48
just going to wrap them in bacon okay
2:50
Bobby this is not a half a cup but I got
2:52
you going okay on your cilantro your
2:54
grill is getting nice and hot all right
2:59
cilantro is so fresh and so it smells so
3:02
nice doesn't it smell good it does all
3:05
right now what else am I supposed to
3:06
have up your th um well we need the
3:08
cheese mon Jack it's half and half so as
3:11
much cro as you got cheese all right so
3:13
I'm going to make almost a paste with
3:16
this kind of and we going to jam these
3:18
things super super tight stuff these
3:20
suckers full pack it in there nice and
3:23
tight just like that we going to recap
3:26
it skewer it all right now all right now
3:28
we're going to run the skewer there you
3:30
go from top to bottom like this that's
3:32
it we're just going to spiral that
3:34
around there you go like that and it's
3:37
that bacon just going to hold on we're
3:39
going to put that on the grill okay and
3:41
that's it and we're going to cook this
3:43
on the we're going to cook this on the I
3:44
think I'm going to spray this Bobby
3:47
[Music]
3:48
okay and we're going to grill these long
3:51
enough to cook that bacon and once that
3:52
Bacon's
3:53
done you know it's done that's all we're
3:57
really doing is cooking B just want to
3:59
roll the around and make sure they don't
4:00
you know burn in any one particular
4:02
place want to get them about as even as
4:04
you can okay these are cooking they look
4:06
really really good the recipe calls for
4:07
about 20 minutes on the grill um if you
4:11
want to you can do them for 10 to 15
4:12
minutes on the grill top and if you'd
4:13
like finish finish them off in the oven
4:15
for about last five minutes however you
4:17
want to do it so we'll see you back in
4:18
just a few minutes so Bobby took my
4:21
suggestion and we have finished these
4:24
off in the oven a little
4:26
bit and these looking pretty good look
4:29
and smell great they look so good it's a
4:33
pretty good idea yeah these look
4:37
beautiful B they smell so good and they
4:39
are going to be as hot as a $3 pistol I
4:43
think I might let you try them first oh
4:45
well I'm was thinking I would let you
4:46
try it look at that y'all yeah you
4:51
ready M you know somehow I feel like a
4:55
guinea big GE m is it good woo yes but
5:02
the bacon dripping I don't have to tell
5:03
you what the bacon dripping are doing
5:04
for oh my
5:05
[Music]
5:08
God they are so
5:11
hot I knew it would be want to see your
5:14
recipes want to see the way you tailgate
5:16
wherever you
5:17
