To ripen an avocado quickly: 1) Make a few cuts in a brown paper bag 2) Place avocados in the bag with an apple for 1 day To cut an avocado: 1) Slice open the avocado lengthwise and remove the pit 2) Score the meat of the avocado without cutting through the skin 3) Push out the avocado into a bowl To cut an avocado even quicker: 1) Slice open the avocado lengthwise and remove the pit 2) Place a metal cookie drying rack over a bowl 3) Push the avocado on top of the drying rack over the bowl so it slices into cubes -- For more Paula and the Deen family, visit: www.pauladeen.com
