0:27
All right, you know what you're doing, honey bunny? Yes, I do. All right, big round of applause! Go, baby
0:34
I'm here with a girl, and we call each other Sissy, because neither one of us had sisters
0:42
but we're probably as close to each other as any sister could ever be
0:48
I would do anything in the world for her, and she would do anything in the world for me
0:53
You got it. This is Bubbles, y'all. Y'all know her as Bubbles. It's really Susan Green
0:58
Tell her whenever you like. If you would, please, darling, let's cook something
1:03
Oh, okay. That's Jamie. He has moved into the director's chair, and he is so smart, I'm sure he'll do just fine
1:14
And he's gonna love bossing you and me around. Between Jamie and Michael, I don't know if we can handle it
1:20
All right, Jamie is wanting to know, what are you cooking, Mom? So this is Susan recipe her version of of it her one pot wonder and it caldo soup which is a Spanish soup Smile bubbles Smile bubbles Yes got you
1:38
Here we go. All right, we're going to take about two tablespoons
1:44
which would be big. Half a stick? Half a stick. OK, we're going to dice our onion. OK
1:52
And I am cutting the sausage into about one-inch pieces. And then we're going to take the onions, saute those in our butter that's melting over here
2:07
Okay. All right, we're going to take about a teaspoon of the ladies' house seasoning here
2:15
What would you like for me to do with these potatoes? I would like you to quarter those potatoes
2:18
You know what quartering means? No, I don't. cut them in four equal pieces
2:23
We used to teach school, and I've got some of my school teacher friends out there in the audience
2:27
She is one of those bossy school teachers y'all love. Just call me Bossy Betty
2:33
Where'd this recipe come from? A long time ago, there was a salesman that used to come in
2:38
at the restaurant down at the Lady and Sons and told... Wait, you're telling my story
2:43
I thought you had this recipe. Well, that's where I got it from. Oh, you got it from me
2:48
Yeah. Oh. Let me tell you y when we were operating the bag lady out of the house I lived on East 60th Street and Susan would get in her car I was so broke y Susan would get in her car and the first thing she would ask me is
3:10
you know, what you need from the grocery store? What all you think you're gonna be doing for tomorrow
3:16
And, you know, I just spout off, and before I knew it, she was in her car
3:21
She had went to the grocery store, bought my groceries. all my groceries for the bag lady
3:28
There was a day-old bread store. I mean, we could fill up that car with bread for a song
3:33
But she was such a wonderful friend, and she would work. She would get in that kitchen with me
3:39
and she would research new recipes, things that would work for the bag lady
3:44
I mean, she worked alongside of me. More fun, though, let me tell you
3:50
But I thought buying my groceries for me, It was a tremendous help
3:55
Well, let me tell you what. The memories are better than that. Now, we boiled our chicken last night
4:01
so we have fresh chicken broth. Good old fresh chicken broth. Mm-hmm
4:06
And we're going to put in about a quart and a half. And our last thing that we're going to put in
4:12
is one of our favorites, collard greens. So half a stick of butter
4:17
She sauteed her one diced onion, half a pound of sausage smoked sausage sausage a quart and a half of chicken broth and five small new potatoes all right now the potatoes all right we put them in quartered But you can take your spoon or if you got a masher and just kind of mash them up
4:41
a little when they get a little bit more done. We've actually got a
4:45
finished product, y'all. And this is a wonderful, you know, this is Susan's version of her
4:52
one pot wonder. And this is a great soup to make in the crockpot
4:59
Let's serve it up and wrap this baby up, Mom. Okay. Okay
5:02
Jamie is saying wrap it up. Must be hungry. Mom, this would go good with the really good grilled mozzarella that you have on the network
5:10
You could just break it and dip it in here, huh? Oh, it would be delicious. That stringy cheese
5:15
Mm-hmm. Well, Susan, I want to thank you so much for doing this with me
5:19
I love you. I love you, too. I love you more than ice cream with butter on top
5:24
I love you to the moon and back. Let me know if y'all want to see her back on this network again
5:32
and we'll have her back for you. If you don't want to ever see her again, just write and let me know
5:43
Great, we got it. Terrific, Johnny. Now I'll come over here and eat
5:49
Isn't that right, Gordon? That's the next step. Come over here and then eat. Thank you, Paul
5:52
