I got Michael in the kitchen with me, y'all
0:05
And for my lovey-dovey meal with my husband, I am fixing to make a simply delicious strawberry cake
0:13
All right, Michael. Uh-huh. If you would take those strawberries laying right there
0:19
I got them. Now, these are just frozen, thawed strawberries that I bought from the grocery store
0:27
about 15 ounces worth. just puree them, and I'm gonna be adding them to my cake mix
0:34
Now, I am using just an 18.25 box of cake mix, and this is a white cake mix that I'm using
0:43
To my cake mix, I'm gonna add a small package of strawberry gelatin
0:51
And now I'm gonna add four eggs. Oh, that's great. You can be the beater man
0:56
Okay. All right, well, wait, wait, wait. Wait, wait, wait. You don't mind very well, do you
1:03
Sure I do. You know what? Why do you do them separate
1:09
Because I want to check each egg to make sure it's all right. Okay
1:13
I don't want to ruin the whole bowl. Okay. Now I'm going to add a fourth of a cup of water
1:26
Give me this thing, Michael, please. Thank you. Now, if you'd measure me out half a cup of vegetable oil
1:34
Adding the vegetable oil will make our cake nice and moist, Michael All right now you can beat it baby OK And I going to be cleaning up It what I love about cake mixes
1:49
They're so easy. You can just dump them in the bowl. You don't have to have this fancy technique
1:56
All right, Michael. What? You can go ahead and add our strawberries now
2:00
Okay. I don't want any on my white shirt. I want to stay clean for our meal
2:06
Yeah. And then I'm going to let my hair down, and he's going to have a good old time on
2:13
Now, I've got us two cake pans over here, y'all, that I've sprayed real well
2:17
So our cakes will come out nice, and they won't stick to the pan
2:22
And I'm going to bake our cake layers for 20 minutes at 350 degrees
2:29
So what I need for you to do, Michael, is take our batter
2:35
Take our batter. and divide it equally now among our cake pans
2:40
Okay. You don't want one layer to come out real fat and the other one to come out real skinny
2:48
Okay. Ooh. Okay, so let's start eyeballing this. Now, I like to take my cakes
3:00
and kind of drop them on my counter. And as I do that, you can see bubbles rising
3:06
to the top. It's little air bubbles that are in our batter. And that'll prevent our cake from having holes all in it
3:13
Those bubbles are just a bursting. Perfect. That is perfect. You know what Michael What I think you might be on to something All right let get these in the oven because I really getting hungry And you know what No baby our lamb is in that oven
3:32
Let's put these in the little oven. All right, so we're going to move on down here, Michael
3:40
And you can man the equipment. Sounds good. The heavy equipment. Now, I'm going to take a half a stick of butter. OK
3:51
And I'm going to take this eight-ounce package of softened cream cheese. Okay
3:59
This has been sitting at room temperature, and you can see just how soft this is
4:05
We're going to make a cream cheese icing, and it's going to be delicious
4:11
Now, you just mix that up, and when we come back, I think our lovey-dovey meal is ready to pull together, don't you
4:19
Well, it's looking good. It is looking good, isn't it? Mm-hmm. You know why
4:24
What? I love you. Well, I love you more. You won't be back in a minute
4:30
No, I don't. Coming up, we top our Simply Delicious cake with a cream cheese frosting that's kissed with the flavor of strawberry
4:38
Doesn't that look delicious? So, Michael, you're getting the lamb out. I am
4:47
Smells good, doesn't it? It does smell wonderful. And look at my cake layers
4:51
Ooh, I can't wait. If you will slice the lamb and be plating that up
4:56
I'm going to put together a frosting. I'll do it. If y'all remember, I had my cream cheese and my butter
5:02
Now I going to add about a half a teaspoon of strawberry extract And because I not able to use that many strawberries in my frosting I gonna add just a few drops of red
5:18
food coloring because I want it just a little pinker and that should do it
5:23
perfectly. Now I'm gonna put in a fourth of a cup of pureed strawberries because
5:30
You want to be careful that you don't put too much liquid
5:35
or your cake frosting will just roll off your cake. Looks good, doesn't it
5:44
Good. All right. To my cream cheese and butter, I'm going to add seven
5:53
don't have a heart attack, seven cups of powdered sugar. And now you have to remember, powdered sugar is so fine that it doesn't equal like one cup of regular granulated sugar
6:12
All right, so that's four. So I'm going to beat this up a little bit, and then I'm going to add my last three
6:18
It's time to frost this beautiful cake
6:35
Doesn't that look delicious? There you go, my precious. Thank you, darling
6:41
The king of our home. Oh, I will try it. Delicious. Are you eating your cake now
6:49
I did have a piece. I don't know why you have to wait to. I have
