Well, let's move on though, because I want to share this little simple recipe with y'all
0:05
I'm willing to bet money on the fact that this was probably the first hors d'oeuvre I ever made for a party
0:13
probably when I was 19. It's been around 100 years. Some of you may have had it, and some of you may have not
0:23
So if you haven't had this or don't know about this little recipe
0:27
I want to share it with you because it's great at a cocktail party. It's wonderful for breakfast
0:32
When we get through with them, it's going to taste like a sausage biscuit. And we're going to take a biscuit mix, three cups of a biscuit mix of your choice
0:42
We're going to take a pound of ground sausage. And this is one of those things that you have to do with your hands
0:51
There's just no way around it because you need the heat from your hands to break down that sausage
0:57
So I going to just go in like this and make sure that biscuit mix gets all mixed in I just going to incorporate those together and then I going to come in here with four cups
1:13
of shredded cheese. Now this is a white cheddar. You can use yellow or if you really wanted to
1:21
spice them up, you could use a peppery Monterey Jack or something with some bite to it
1:30
We have really had the cheese in this show, hadn't we? But like I said, now you're really going to have to get in there and just work this and work it
1:43
This is not something that you're going to mix up in two or three minutes. All right, I've got all of our ingredients mixed up together real well, and there's not
1:53
but three ingredients, a biscuit mix, a fresh ground sausage and cheese, that's all it is
1:59
to it. And we just going to pinch them off and roll them about the size of a small walnut All right we going to put these in the oven It preheated to 375 degrees
2:13
We're going to keep an eye on these and we're going to cook them for probably about 18 minutes
2:18
But for your own oven at home, you'll want to kind of check them like after 10 or 12 minutes
2:24
because I really don't know how your oven cooks at home. I just know how mine cooks
2:28
So 18 minutes should do it. And in they go. Got to wash my hands
2:38
All right, I've got a pan back here that I got ready, and they've cooled off a little bit
2:51
Now, I'm going to show you how I like to eat my sausage balls
2:56
Like if I'm having a sausage biscuit, I love mustard on it and I love mayonnaise
3:03
So all I do is mix a little mustard with some mayonnaise But those that watch my show you know I a mayonnaise freak
3:16
I love me some mayonnaise. And I'm just gonna put that sauce right here in my container
3:29
And then I'm gonna just pile up my sausage balls around it
3:34
Well, except for one, Gertie has patiently waited. Gertie's been with me the whole time I've been making these sausage balls
3:46
So, let's see, that's the biggest piece, Gertie. Way to go. And Harry gets the little piece
3:56
And now Mama gets to taste it. After all these years, these simple little things are so good
