This is a recipe that mom did a lot when we were growing up
0:14
It seemed like Christmastime was a big time for it. But for us, it's perfect for tailgating or when you have people over
0:19
You usually make it ahead of time, and it travels really well. It's a great hors d'oeuvre. If you've got friends coming over
0:24
Delicious. And they're super easy to make, too. We got a pound of bulk sausage, two cups of cheddar cheese
0:31
a quarter cup of milk, a little bit of salt and pepper. And some body onion. And two tablespoons of grated onion
0:37
Grated onion is good because you get kind of a bigger flavor when you grate it instead of chop it up
0:42
We're going to use two cups of a baking mix, like a biscuit mix. The lady and son's biscuit mix is what I use
0:49
Holladeen biscuit mix. You notice that Mom's not in here right now
0:54
She's the quiet judgment in the back of the room. Hey, y'all
0:58
Hey, Mama. So we're also going to put some jalapenos in it today, which Mom normally doesn't do, but Bobby and I really like them
1:04
Because we spicy. We spicy boys, y'all. So you want to do a jalapeno
1:09
Yeah, man, I'll do the jalapeno. We're going to throw everything into this mixer and grind it up
1:16
We're going to hand patty them and roll them up and put them into the oven for..
1:20
18 minutes. These are really fast. 18 minutes. $375 for 18 minutes. Pretty simple, quick, always a favorite
1:27
Well, this is one of those things that it's easy to eat a bunch of them because they're kind of small, but they're so good
1:32
I've embarrassed myself over a part of that every time. You've embarrassed me many times
1:37
I got invited to a Christmas party with a girlfriend of mine, and I really didn't know the people that were there
1:42
and they didn't tell us to bring gifts to exchange, so when everybody was exchanging gifts she ran blocker for me and I stood in the kitchen and I ate 35 of those meatballs as fast as I could And then we left We didn get invited back the next year
1:58
What do you think, man? One jalapeno. These are pretty big. I think I'm just going to use one jalapeno. And they're pretty strong, too
2:03
Yeah, just cut them up kind of small. And we're going to put a pinch and a pinch. I would use two
2:08
Well, you're not here. You would if it was your segment. And it's not
2:15
Boys, this is what your life is going to be like. Even when she's not here, you'll hear her five-packed metal ton somewhere in the distance
2:23
My mom's not here, but I hear her quietly correcting us from somewhere beyond
2:29
So we've got two tablespoons, and we're going to get the juice that runs off of that onion
2:35
Look how simple that is. And one-quarter cup of milk. Let me see
2:42
Close enough. Ooh, and we're going to make a dipping sauce, too, to go with these. Yeah
2:50
Yeah. Great idea, Bobby. If we're going to do it, we're going to do it all the way
2:54
We're going to mix it up. Now, this is going to be moist is what it's going to be
2:59
Well, and you get a lot of liquid whenever you grate an onion like that, too. You get a lot more liquid out of it
3:04
And that's all there are to it. Hold on. That is not all there are to it
3:09
Guys, can you make this entertaining? Gordon just asked if we could make this entertaining
3:16
Make it entertaining, that's a little bit . Rub some of that juice in my eyes. Got it
3:25
Jalapeno. Oh, these are gonna be good. What else could you add to this that'd be good
3:30
Franchini mushrooms or something like that, if you were to get them nice and soft
3:34
dice them up and put them in there, do you think? Mm Do you Yeah Here you to spray Certainly do Look over there
3:47
We're going to ball these up, y'all. Just about got ball size, I guess, and line them up
3:52
Bobby, you can make the sauce if you want while I'm doing this. Can I make the sauce? You could. Would you please
3:57
I need a bowl to make it in. Right, John. Oh, there it are. There's a place here in Savannah that had an awesome sauce
4:04
So they had, their thing was they did little cheeseburgers and little hot dogs
4:09
And they had a sauce that was so good, and they shared it with me, and all it was was mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup
4:15
And it was so good, and you never would have thought that it could be so simple. About a half cup mayonnaise, maybe a tablespoon or two of Dijon
4:24
I like that. Depending on your taste. Dijon. A couple of tablespoons, yeah
4:30
A couple of public, it's completely public education, believe it or not. I don't think we have to tell everybody that we're public educated
4:37
Well, we just have to let them know that we went to school at all. And a couple of tablespoons of honey
4:43
I love these because they're so crispy. They get crispy when you cook them and just good
4:50
Hey, boys, this is your future. Huh? This is your future. You're up there working and your mom's sitting back in here watching you
4:57
Welcome to tomorrow. And I'm enjoying this so much. So let me tell you boys what you could substitute
5:05
Okay. Ground beef in place of the sausage could be very interesting
5:12
It could be like little cheeseburger poppers. You know what I'm saying
5:16
Hey, you know, hey, guys, this is going to be the show in 20 years
5:20
Your mother's sitting in a chair, you're cooking, and her yelling at you. You sitting next to her saying, could you make this entertaining
5:26
I bored Could you make this entertaining the best thing Please Jim please You know what I like the best is that they ready man
5:40
Oh, wow. Look how awesome. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. 375 for about 18 minutes, and these things are ready
5:48
Look how good. Oh, now it's entertaining. Now it's entertaining. Are they hot
5:54
Yeah, they're hot. Ah, watch it. And the cooking spray obviously doesn't work
6:04
Because they're stuck. Stuck like Chuck. Here you go, Mom. Open up
6:10
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Incoming. Incoming. Whoa! Incoming. Incoming. Whoa
6:16
Perfect! Is it good? Oh, . You didn't have to soak up
6:23
It is. Thank you. It's super hot, too. One more. Yo, where's it
6:33
Hey, here comes the sauce, Gordon. Then you make it entertaining. So good
6:46
Oh, man. Quick, easy, delicious, and entertaining, too, y'all. Oh. Y'all come try these for real
6:55
Good. Ooh, I love that jalapeno. They got some bite to them. Y'all don't all get up at once when I ask you to come try them
7:01
All right. Let's get a plate and we'll pass them out. Thanks, y'all
