What kind of accordion man we got here? Yeah, how about a pickle? They'd knock you later, hosing off
0:16
Yay! It's Oktoberfest here in Savannah. Oktober is one of the best months out of the year
0:27
to come to Savannah. Enjoy and have a good time. Food is abundant
0:32
as well as all the beers and the ales. We have a lot of pubs here
0:37
We have breweries that make all these wonderful beers if you like beer
0:43
Aw. And, you know, there's nothing like Oktoberfest like a good pickle
0:51
That's true. Well, hey, Rob. Hi. How you doing? You know, there is nothing
0:56
like a good sweet pickle in October. That's what I've heard. So I'm just gonna clop over here
1:04
and show everybody how to make a wonderful quick pickle. So I'm gonna take a Kirby cucumber
1:25
and I love pickling, what they call just pickling cucumbers. They're smaller than a regular cucumber
1:36
like we grow in our gardens, and they're definitely shorter, stouter and they just delicious So this particular cucumber is a Kirby
1:53
Now I'm going to put our cucumber, and we're cutting it on the bias
1:57
so it won't look like just anybody's pickle. And I'm just going to put my cucumbers in my bowl
2:08
discarding the tips. So, just like that, and I'm going to crush two fat cloves of garlic
2:23
Okay, so those can go in the pot right now. Okay, I'm going to add one teaspoon of mustard seed, one teaspoon, uh-oh, that won't get in there
2:36
of, like, red peppercorns. And this is going to take my breath
2:43
You have to be very careful. With vinegars, if you stand over the pot and you inhale it
2:50
you will not quit coughing for a good hour. So you want to be careful
2:56
Now, the recipe calls for three teaspoons of sugar. But I think for y'all, I'm going to double it
3:05
because I like sugar, two teaspoons of salt, and we're going to let that come to a bowl
3:17
Okay? So we're just going to let that sugar dissolve, and while that's dissolving
3:26
I'm going to come down here, and I going to snip me off about four little leaves of dill and I just gonna snip it with the scissors
3:41
You know, it just depends on how much dill you like as to how much dill you put
3:49
Dill? Yeah, I like dill. You like dill? Oh, yeah. I do too, honey
3:54
All right, so I'm gonna pack my Kirby cucumbers. into this jar
4:02
and I'm going to pack them. Rob, you see how I'm packing it
4:07
I see that. Because they're going to shrink a little bit. So I'm going to pack them good
4:16
All right. So I'm going to use my little funnel here, and I'm going to just pour that hot liquid
4:28
All right, now I can take it and go like that. You know what
4:33
I'm gonna see if I can't hit that big old hole without a funnel
4:44
My granny and I made more pickles together than you could shake a stick at
4:53
Look at this. Look it down in there. Which cameraman can get in there
4:58
So our quick pickles are just that easy, y'all. Now, the recipe says you can eat these in 30 minutes
5:12
But I saying that I would put them in the refrigerator and I would rotate my jar just like that Every time I went to my refrigerator I turn that jar Fascinating ain it Pat
5:32
Yeah how about a pickle? Pickle's for everybody
5:55
Thank you
6:55
Look what your husband's gonna get. Oh, the garlic. The garlic. I love it
7:02
I'm out of pickles
