Hey y'all, happy Halloween
0:04
You know the deans have a favorite, couple of favorite holidays of the year
0:08
Halloween's got to be right up there at the top. And I'm so glad that all you friends of mine could come in and
0:14
join me and cook with me. And I've got a special surprise guest for y'all
0:22
I met, I met this broad a couple of years ago. And I was shocked because they didn't tell me that this special guest was coming to be on a show with me
0:36
Well, I fell in love with her. I mean, I really liked her
0:40
She was kind of pitiful in one way, but then she was very interesting and fun in another way
0:46
So if you have not met her, I'm even more excited over that fact
0:52
I hope you're going to love her as much as I do. Y'all please give a big round warm welcome to Paula-Wena
1:00
Hey, y'all. Do y'all recognize Paula-Wena? Welcome to the Paula-Dane Halloween special, y'all
1:08
Paula-Wena joined me two years ago for a special. With me, your host, Paula-Wena
1:16
Paula-Wena. You look beautiful. Hey, honey, this is a nice costume. Who are you
1:20
I'm not a costume. It's not my costume. I wear this every day. Who are you supposed to be
1:24
I'm everybody's fairy godmother. I grant wishes. Well, I wish you would move over and let me host my show
1:33
Oh, okay. Hey, y'all. I see that the collard greens are just about ready
1:38
Those are not collard greens, Paulina. Sure they are. Sure they are. We just need to add a little bit more butter
1:44
They're bubbling nice. Oh, they smell so good. What's spooky? Spooky greens
1:50
Paula Wiena, I have to say, I think you've lost weight over the last couple of years
1:55
You really, I hate to use this word on you, but you look hot
2:00
I look great, y'all. Yes, you do. I'm almost a little jealous. Join the club
2:06
I had a necklace that looked like that. Did you? Yes, I did. Well, if you're lucky
2:11
I can get it back. Maybe you can get this one back. Y'all
2:18
Okay, what are you making for us, Paulowina? Well. You forgot your ear screws
2:27
I didn't forget mine though. You're right. It's Halloween, so let's make every child's favorite thing. Okay
2:33
It is a healthy Halloween snack. Okay. Camel apples, y'all. It's like caramel apple wedges, isn't it
2:43
Camel apple wedges, y'all. This just takes me back to when I was a little child
2:48
in Riverbend. Growing up in Riverbend. I know
3:00
It's right outside of Albany, y'all. Riverbend is where our family had our
3:08
gas station and grocery store. My daddy Earl and my mama Kari
3:14
and then there was my fat little brother to take care of
3:18
He was so fat and bad. So fat and so bad. But that was life in River Bend
3:28
and it was right there on the county line outside of the city of Albany
3:33
right there in the county of Daugherty. And it was on the bend in the river
3:38
out near Radium Springs. We called it River Bend. Yeah, it was Flint River. What
3:43
It was the Flint, still is the Flint River. And you know what I recently visited there in that bend in the river, y'all? What
3:51
It's still there! The bend and the river is still there. And I went back
4:00
And I looked at it with my fat little brother Bubba standing there
4:05
Mr. Bubba, look, it's a river bend! This is where we grew up, Bubba. Yes
4:12
And he almost drowned. Oh, almost! You almost drowned him the day I remember. Almost
4:20
This close! To drowning right there in the bend in the river. Yes
4:26
I remember. But thank God, like a miracle, he did not drown
4:32
He did not drown. He grew up to be a... Bubba. He grew up to be Bubba
4:38
Yes. And we made it out of River Bend and then we moved all over the city of Albany, Georgia
4:45
all over the county of Daugherty. I mean, y'all did. We, oh, no, we did
4:51
We did. Do you remember? Yes. But it all started at Riverbend, and that's where I had my first caramel apple slices
4:58
Yes, that Grandma Paul made. Grandma Paul told me how to make them. We made them when I was a little kid
5:03
We didn't have much. We didn't have that much. We only had a little bit. But we had apples
5:09
Well why don't we get started on... And we had sticks! Yes, you had sticks
5:16
And we made camel apples on sticks and we fed them to the children
5:20
And fat little Bubba ate almost all over. Yes, he did. I think that's why he nearly drowned in the river
5:27
He was full of camel apples, y'all. And he couldn't open his mouth to scream because his teeth was stuck together with camel
5:32
But thank God he did not drown. No, he didn't drown
5:43
He sure didn't. So, let's go back to our childhood in River Bend and let's make some caramel apples
5:54
Okay, well, why don't Paula Weena, why don't we start melting ice
5:59
The first thing you need to do is you need to wash your apples
6:03
Well, I've already washed them, Paula Weena. Good and clean. Good and clean
6:07
They're good and clean and these apples are good and clean. Yes. Now I'm gonna show you
6:11
But don't you think you need to stop them? You could do that. Oh, okay. Take your caramel and double boil it
6:18
All right, this might mess up my hand. And a double boiler, y'all. Okay. And we'll just keep a good tight eye on that, you will
6:26
Yes, I will. And then we'll take our apple, and we don't have a cora
6:32
We grew up pouring Ripple Bend, there was no apple coras in Ripple Bend
6:36
We don't need an apple cobra. We just cut our apples into slices. That's how we did it
6:40
That's how we had to do it. We didn't have any choice. Does anybody recognize Paula Wiener
6:44
Do y'all remember her coming home and being a guest on my show like two years ago
6:51
It was the happiest day of my life. I was just crying
6:56
We were right here on the show. I was just crying. I said, God bless it
7:01
I can't believe it was Paula Deen Stone. I remember you being very, very emotional
7:07
I was just balling. I was just balling, balling. I can't believe I'm here
7:12
I remember you being very, very emotional. I'm getting emotional right now
7:16
Just being here with you again on this show is very emotional. Gosh, you've slung tears all over your beautiful blouse
7:22
Oh, when I cry, I cry a river. A flip river Just like River Ben I will cry you a river I won cry you Flint River Just like River Bend I will cry you a river River I will cry you a Flint River
7:35
Sometimes I cry a lot too. And I'll put a bend on it, and then I'll build a gas station on it, and I'll have a fat little brother buffer on it, and I'll call it River Bend
7:46
Well, tell me, Paulowina, what have you been doing for the last two years that I've not seen yet
7:51
Well, continuing my successes. In a general sense, continuing my successes, Paula
7:59
and continuing to forge ahead is what I'm doing and just enjoying Halloween and all the seasons
8:08
Do you know what I like? I like it when the leaves change. Oh, I do too
8:11
All right, let me tell everybody what you're doing here. You've got two 11-ounce packages of caramel-like beads
8:19
and you can find these in the baking department, y'all. I've added an eighth-foot teaspoon of salt
8:23
one tablespoon of heavy cream, and I'm gonna add about a half a teaspoon
8:28
of vanilla flavoring. I'm having to get myself together a little bit
8:33
Oh, I know. I know exactly how you feel. I almost feel like I've been in your shit
8:39
You've been there? Because you do, Paula. I had to turn to your stove at a young age
8:44
Yes, I did. Yes, I did. I turned to my stove, too. I said, stove, save me and my fat brother, Bubba
8:51
Paula Wiener, can you cut these a little thicker, please? How about that? Yes
8:58
How is Bubba doing? Bubba is doing great. Look at Bubba. He is just doing great. Excellent
9:06
I feel so much better now that I've cried it out. I know, sometimes you just need a good cry
9:11
You gotta just cry it out, sister. You just need a good cry. You need a good cry
9:18
Yes, you do. Even strong girls cry, don't they? Yes. Big girls do cry
9:25
And even bigger girls cry. Even bigger girls cry more. I'm a bigger girl than you are
9:29
No, I don't think so. We did caramel apples when I was a kid
9:35
Yes. Yeah. Yes, we did. Yeah. We did lots of things when you were a kid
9:42
We moved. Oh, was I there? Yes, I was there. Well, in a sense
9:46
But I do remember doing a lot of caramel apples Yes, we
9:51
Boy, that double boiler is not really doing the trick on that caramel
9:54
And y'all please remember, this is live It's live These suckers better melt
10:04
Well then, do we have a backup option? I do, my car is right outside
10:10
And it will back up You wouldn't leave, Oh, I'm not going nowhere
10:21
You wouldn't leave Paula hanging, would you? Never, not once. Not never
10:25
I'm going to leave, I'm going to start picking up your things. Okay. And putting sticks in them
10:31
This is something fun to do for a couple different reasons. Who doesn't love a caramel apple
10:35
You know, it's October. At this time of year, I like to go to the fair
10:39
We always went to a fair when I was a kid. My brother and his, my nephews, my brother. We'd pick up nuts and sell them so we could go the fair. Do you remember Paul
10:47
Oh my god, we used to go pick big heads out of the big head. We would sell them for 25 cents for 100 pounds
10:56
But you know what? It got y'all to the fair. Certainly did. It got me a lot of caramel apples too
11:02
Yes. All right, so you want to make sure that those that skin is dry. Yeah, so you got to dry it. Yes
11:09
You've got to wash it and then dry. Yeah, you've got to just wipe it off. Do you know what I like, Paulowina, about these wedges
11:13
Tell me what you like. What do you like? A whole caramel apple is so hard to eat
11:18
You know, I find it hard to get my mouth around. You're right. So I love these
11:23
And we can do them in different finishes. We can coat them in different stuff
11:28
That's right. Yes. So that we can have a caramel apple. We can have a chocolate fudge apple
11:35
And this is fun for the kids, too. Yes. Yes. Once you get the caramels melted
11:41
Well, I think we better come up with another plan. I think we're going to have to have an alternate plan here, kitties
11:49
Are you on high? Yeah. Are you on at all? Can I add some liquid to that
11:57
No, we can't add any liquid, Paula Weena. Well, you need to do something, sister, because your show is flopping
12:05
I'll figure this out. I'm from the school of make do. You know what
12:12
And I make do, dadgummit. While we're waiting on that, why don't we do some viewer questions
12:19
Because I know there's people that have questions. Oh, you know, yes
12:23
I talked to them this afternoon, Paula Wiener. Who'd you talk to? Just anybody out there that'd listen to me
12:31
Just anybody out there that'd listen to you, you talk to them? Yes, anybody that would listen to me
12:35
I think I have some questions. I do have some questions. Oh, good. I love questions
12:39
Are you ready? In fact, I wish they were here. All right
12:43
Well, they're with us in spirit. Yes. The first question. Uh-huh. Can you get this right here
12:50
On me. Hey, y'all. Welcome to Paula Deen's Halloween special. Cauldron's bubbling
12:57
And I've got viewer mail questions. First question comes from Angela McGee
13:06
Paula, what is your number? Well, Angela, I can't give you my number
13:11
It's private. One requested side dish by you. This question doesn't make any sense
13:16
Paula, what is your number? One requested side dish by your family at Thanksgiving
13:22
Oh, Paula, what is your number one requested side dish by your family at Thanksgiving
13:29
Now I get it. It didn't make sense at first, Angela, but now I got it. Paula, what is your number
13:34
She wasn't asking for my phone number. Paula, what is your number one requested side dish
13:39
by your family at Thanksgiving? See, I knew I could make it work
13:43
Look at that. I think I can answer that for you, Angela. My number one requested side dish by my mama is
13:49
your cornbread dressing. Holy smokes, is it good. And you know what
13:57
Since we moved to Savannah, now that we're here in the Lowcountry and on the coast
14:00
where we have access to all kinds of great seafood and things
14:05
I have come to... You like oyster dressing. Well, there you go. I've come to like oyster dressing very much
14:10
So I would have to say that the number one and number two requested side dishes by our family
14:15
are cornbread dressing and oyster cornbread dressing. Yes. Yeah, would you agree
14:20
You know, Paula Winnie, your voice keeps changing. It does change. It's coming and going
14:25
High and low. I think I might be going through the change. All right
14:32
Next question is from Joellen. Joellen? Coombs. What is your favorite Halloween dish, Paula
14:40
My favorite Halloween dish has got to be the snake that I make
14:46
Look at this. Now we got- Well, it's certainly not caramel apples. Well, I like caramel apples too
14:51
Look at that, how pretty it is. It's beautiful. Now we got nuts on one we got baby M on one My favorite Halloween thing that I make probably is this snake and I love to go outside
15:05
and get bamboo leaves and big, big leaves and put them on a tray and I love to bake my snake
15:14
where he's all wiggly and then I paint him and he's so much fun
15:19
What are you talking about? I actually hate a snake. A snake sandwich
15:25
I'll pass. All right, Paula, what is the best way to make a cheap cut of meat tender when cooked
15:33
Cook it long enough, like a chuck roast, y'all. A chuck roast is so good, it's got just enough fat in it
15:40
but the secret is cooking it long enough so that it will be tender
15:45
That is from Rebecca Stewart Lane. Hey, Rebecca. So overcook it, Rebecca, is the answer to that question
15:50
No, not overcook it like a... Overcook it long and low and slow. Yes, slow and slow
15:57
And then? And I've got some wonderful recipes here on the, no, I've got some wonderful recipes here on the website
16:06
You know, for a good old roast cooked in my multi-cooker or your slow cooker
16:12
Look at this, isn't this wonderful palowina? You ain't got any towels? Look, I'm gonna do, I'm gonna do
16:18
I'm doing butterfingers, crushed butterfingers on this one. Ooh-wee. Look at that
16:23
Can you say that? Can you say Butterfinger? Well, it's that candy. Yeah. Oh, yeah, now it's melting nice
16:29
Oh, no, this is Baby Ruth. Oh, it's that candy with nuts in it
16:33
This is melting nice. Look at that. It takes a little while. They must have been cold, your caramels
16:38
They must have been. Yeah. But you have to kind of do it like this. You have to kind of, almost like you're frosting a cake
16:44
Yeah. Yeah, you have to kind of mash it. See, that's getting real, look at that
16:48
Yeah. Now that's getting real good. Yeah. But I love this because you can have variety, right, Paulowina
16:55
Absolutely, and I just can't wait to go to my dentist. He's going to be so glad I had extra caramel apples
17:06
Yes, we'll keep them in business this year, won't we? Yeah, this is getting nice
17:11
Yes, this is perfect. Like to maybe make me a sandwich out of this
17:15
What kind of bread would you have? White bread with mayonnaise. the way that we used to eat them at Riverbed
17:20
when I was a little kid. White pepper bayon-aids and anything. Oh, I think I'm gonna put sprinkles on this one, Paula Wiena
17:27
I think you should. How many caramel apples do you think we're gonna get out of this
17:32
Oh, we can get as many as we've got apples. Look at that, look at that
17:38
Well, how many children are you expecting? Mmm, a bunch. Are you? Yes
17:44
How many children are you expecting? Do you get it? Couple. Oh, like pregnant
17:49
Yeah. I'm not pregnant. Forget I said that. I know you're not
17:55
All right, let's see. Oh, there's the Butterfinger right there. All right
18:00
I'm going to do that. That's getting really good. That's getting perfect, Paula Wiena
18:04
So how many different types? Have you got about a dozen different toppings over there to put on
18:08
I've got one, two, three, four, five, six different toppings. Have you got peanut butter over there
18:14
No, but you know what? That would be wonderful, Paula Winn. That's why I asked if you had it
18:20
Because you can do anything you want to. Your caramel seems to be sticking pretty good, too
18:25
It does. It's sticking good, but you just got to keep that apple dry
18:30
Yeah, I was being facetious. It's not sticking. Yeah, it was, but it got a little wet, so I just got dried off
18:35
It'll stick to your teeth, I bet, won't it? Mm. Yeah. Yes
18:41
Reminds me of your little brother Bubba. with his little teeth in his little mouth
18:48
I'm getting this apple all wet. That one ain't working. I know it
18:54
Well, what y'all want to do next? Where are you going trick-or-treating
19:02
Your house. Yeah, I won't be there. Yeah, no? Well, then I guess it's going to be a short night
19:09
I guess I'll go to my brother's house. I'm going trick-or-treating with the grandchildren
19:14
You know what? We do something. I was talking to some other adults today
19:18
and they do something really neat here in Savannah, and I'm sure they do it in other places too
19:23
It's called Trick or Trunk, and you can go to different places in town. Oh, I like that
19:27
You can go to different places in town. There's different churches here in Savannah
19:31
and different associations where adults show up in their cars and they park in the parking lot of the church or the school
19:37
or whoever is in charge of it or putting it on. and you have just a trunk full of candy for all the kids
19:45
All right, now that's chocolate right there. But as the adults show up with the trick-or-trunk
19:49
you have to be in costume as well. So Cloud and I thought that we might go to the local church that we visit here
19:54
That is a great idea. That way you know that your children are safe
19:58
You know, it's almost scary this day and time to let your children just go to any house that you don't know who lives there, right
20:06
Come on. All right. Pallowina. Live a little. It's Halloween. Pallowina. Or we could do trick or drunk
20:13
Look at here. How's the house? Look at here. How about some more quick
20:18
Oh my goodness, that looks so good. Look at that. Mercy. Isn't that adorable y'all
20:23
That looks way better than what we've just actually done here. I know, that's because we've been busy talking
20:28
Have we been? Yes. All right, now that's the Butterfinger. Mm-hmm. I think I'm gonna try
20:36
Oh, I'm gonna try the nuts. I love nuts. Do you? Do you? Yeah
20:43
Do you? Camels and the nuts, it's to die for. I love a pecan
20:50
Man, is that good. Make some of these with your family this Halloween
20:53
You'll be glad you did. And it's great because, like I said, you can sample two or three and
20:58
Okay, you ready for another question? Yes. Hannah wants to know, what is a favorite, what is your
21:08
This is a very poorly worded question, Hannah. So I'm gonna rephrase it for you
21:13
What was your favorite Halloween candy growing up? Paula? Hannah, my favorite Halloween candy growing up
21:23
was the little candy corns. I love the candy corns. Gross. In fact, we've got bowls all over the house, y'all
21:32
with candy corns mixed with nuts, mixed nuts. And it tastes like one of my favorite candies
21:39
I'll try not to say it. Candy corn. Candy corn with nuts
21:42
It's out of this world. Try it, Hannah. Mix your mixed nuts with your candy corns
21:49
Just go get some peanut butter cups because those are the best. Everybody knows it. I loved them growing up. Mm
21:54
I love this. Those in the chocolate bars with the wafers in them. I love this
21:57
This is out of this world. What are you saying? Get out
22:02
That went over my head. Leslie Johns wants to know. Sorry, y'all, my apples are juicy
22:10
You're spitting everywhere, too. I am. Leslie Johns wants to know, how did your house, wow
22:18
How did your house fare during the hurricane? Let me tell you something, Leslie
22:25
Savannah is so fortunate because we in kind of a little alcove And just when you think it gonna hit Savannah it kind of goes up and hits the poor South Carolina in North Carolina
22:38
It hits that bend in the river, don't it? Yeah, it hits that bend in the river
22:41
And then it just goes somewhere else. But this time, y'all, we had to evacuate
22:48
And we left on Thursday and we came back on Monday morning
22:53
It looked like a war zone when we rode back into our city. There were live power lines all over the road
22:59
There was big trees blocking the road. We had to weave and wind and backtrack and all that
23:06
And like I said, we're still suffering the consequences of Matthew. A lot of people's homes in Savannah and up and down the coast of Florida and into the Carolinas were really badly damaged
23:18
You nuts me down my dress. Excuse me, y'all. I don't like nuts in my dress
23:27
Thank you, I'm done. I'd say that we were very fortunate with the hurricane
23:31
We were. Yeah. It could have been so, so much worse. Yes, it could
23:35
All right, so Ed and Stacy Ferguson would like to know. What have you still not done in your life
23:41
that you would really like to do? What have I not done in my life
23:45
that I would still like to do? I would love to host Saturday Night Live
23:50
Is that a big wish? That'll never happen. Look, if you go on Dream, Dream Big
23:57
That's right. Big Dream or go home. Okay. I'd love to host Saturday Night Live
24:04
Who wouldn't? All right. Susan Hutto, I think I'm pronouncing that right, would like to know
24:13
I love these apples, y'all. Susan Hutto says... This is so much better than the square caramels
24:19
Hey, how about them apples? I did it. You know, don't you
24:25
Live television, everybody. Sometimes the caramel doesn't melt. Susan Hutto would like to know, or says
24:33
I have always loved watching your cooking show, especially when Bobby's on it. I have always loved watching your cooking show
24:39
Please tell us you have a new show. My husband and I love you to pieces
24:45
Oh, thank you, honey. And I send that love right back to you
24:49
And thank you for asking. Yes, I actually have two new shows on TV
24:53
One is called Positively Paula. Mm-hmm. Stars my family. Mm-hmm. And my friends
25:02
And it's syndicated, so you would have to go to pauladean.tv. Listen, erase
25:12
Start again. pauladean.tv.com. Saturday night, live, she would like those. Oh, okay
25:18
Now the team is telling me I don't know what the heck I'm talking about
25:23
Since you got live television so on lock, you should go host Saturday Night Live
25:27
I know. Tell them where to find you. They practice for a week. We practice for three minutes
25:32
Tell them where to find you. You go to PositivelyPaula.tv, and you'll find out what area it's on in your area
25:41
And then my other show that I have is Sweet Home Savannah
25:47
and that's on the Evine Network. And every Tuesday, I'll be coming to you live from this kitchen
25:56
doing what I love to do. Will Bobby be on with you
26:00
I bet he will. I bet he will. And I'll be in this kitchen
26:04
cooking and visiting with friends. My favorite thing in the whole world to do, y'all
26:10
So that's Sweet Home Savannah and Positively Power. You got lipstick and caramel all over your face
26:18
I do. All around your lips. Well, it was so good. Looks like you enjoyed it, girl
26:24
Oh, gosh. I got caramel way down there. All over your face. That's what I just said
26:28
Oh, my gosh. This is so good. Get it right from the tap. It's even better
26:32
All right. Now, let's see which one's this. It's that candy. What's next? With nuts
26:37
Do you have another question? I don't have any questions at all
26:40
I have my answers. Well, then, I need to think of a question
26:47
Go ahead. You get one. Have you gotten married since I last saw you
26:52
Yes. Who did you marry? Your daughter-in-law. My daughter-in-law, Cloud. Mm-hmm. I love me some Cloud
27:01
I have gotten married. Everybody knows that. I love me some Cloud. She's a hot little Venezuelan number
27:06
Enough. I've got some extra questions. Oh, extra questions. Okay, the crew says they have extra questions
27:14
Good, I was getting concerned about how live this was getting. This is getting real live
27:20
What is a favorite dish your grandkids like to make? Well, I don't have any grandchildren
27:26
Oh, you. Yes. You know what? The man that just covers my right arm, my back arm
27:36
My back, my left arm, Eddie, makes us fresh bread. Is Eddie your grandchild
27:43
No. I was unaware of Eddie. No, you know Eddie. He makes the best bread, y'all
27:52
And just about every day he comes. I know, aren't they wonderful? Just about every day he comes in the house
27:57
and first thing he does is start a loaf of bread. Well, this morning, Jack and Maddie and Jamie were over at the house. Yeah
28:04
And Jack kept looking at some bread I had in a zip bag
28:11
And he said, Jack said, is that Eddie's bread? And I said, yes, would you like a piece
28:20
And he said, yes, ma'am. And they like for me to butter it
28:23
and grill it on the black skillet. And so, and you can cut it as thick
28:28
or as thin as you want. And Jack loves that bread so very much
28:33
and so does Maddie. I wish you could have heard them smacking and raving
28:38
You don't have to be a grandchild to like grilled, buttered bread. There's nothing better than homemade bread
28:44
And we have a bread machine, and it's slowly turning into our Achilles heel
28:50
because you can't resist it. But so anyway, Eddie said, Jack, would you like for me to teach you how to make a loaf of bread
28:57
So Jack got over there and made his own loaf. Get out
29:01
Yes. Your grandson made a loaf. Yes. Well, he's a big boy
29:07
What's another question? What is your favorite comfort food to make? Are any of these questions for me
29:16
You can answer. You can answer what is your favorite comfort food to make
29:21
Caramel apple with M&M. Mine is a potato. Hands down a potato
29:28
A potato. Cooked a zillion different ways. Do we have another question
29:37
What is a simple recipe for pie crust? We're into brevity, everybody
29:42
The simplest- We like to keep it short. The simplest pie crust for a recipe
29:47
is a refrigerated pie crust. You go to the grocery store, and they're rolled up
29:54
That's the easiest kind. But if you want to make- That was not the answer that Kenzie had
29:59
It's not. Here's a look on Kenzie's face. Well, here was the key word, easiest, easiest
30:08
It's simple, not simple. Oh, OK. I thought you said the easiest
30:13
That's the easiest. But I've got a recipe for the perfect pie crust in my cookbook
30:20
It's so easy to make. All you have to do, or you can find it on my website
30:26
And I tell you just how to make the perfect pie crust. That's a beautiful, you're quite a salesman
30:32
To take that question and turn it in to go buy my cookbook or look at my website
30:36
No, just go to the website. Just go to PaulaDeen.com, Pie Crush
30:42
Next question. What was your favorite Halloween night when your boys were growing up
30:48
None of these questions are from me. Oh no, you don't remember our favorite Halloween night
30:54
I did a, I dressed up. I didn't breast up. I don't remember you breasting anything
31:00
I painted my face green. You and Cynthia, I remember that. Cynthia Blalock
31:05
And I had on this long moo-moo. I remember that. And you scared all the cheering
31:10
Uh-huh. And I got me a chair on the front porch, and I had a cauldron
31:14
I remember. And a broom. I still have pictures of that. I have photographs of that
31:18
And the kids would come up, and I'd say, hee-hee-hee-hee-hee-hee! Come here, my little children
31:25
Come here! And that is scary. And they'd run away and cry
31:30
I wonder why. Don know why I wonder why Don know why That was 1980 80 Yeah 79 Ooh you getting old
31:43
Next question. This can be for either of you. All right. Finally
31:49
Please give Paula Wiener one. She can be very jealous and vindictive
31:55
What is your go-to recipe when you haven't planned ahead for dinner? My go-to recipe when I have not planned again for dinner
32:02
You wanted a question, Paulowina. It's all yours, Big Mouth. I mean, Paulowina
32:10
I would say a store-bought pie crust with mayonnaise. I would go with that
32:22
Next question. Same question for Paula. Oh, Dean. Okay. Okay, my favorite go-to meal
32:31
would be a wonderful piece of salmon. I can have it ready in 10 minutes
32:37
And it's perfectly delicious. And you can put it on a bowl of greens
32:42
Where'd you learn that from? From my son Bobby. You couldn't think of it
32:51
Well, that was not the truth. Well, it is. I just fixed it the other night
32:56
That was not my truth. Oh. Next question. Next question. Great one for Paul
33:04
Oh. My son and his wife are vegetarians I have a great dish for the holidays Can you suggest one I would say a store pie crust
33:19
Start with that. And then just be old. Any vegetable would do
33:31
You could fill it up with the fibrous green bean. I mean..
33:41
I'm sorry. What was that question? What was the question again? What was the question again
33:53
A good side dish for a vegetarian at the holidays. A good side dish for a vegetarian at the holidays
33:58
You make a lot of couscous. Yeah, I do, but that's so boring
34:03
Well, you sure do make a lot of it. We do. You know what I like to do, especially at this time of year, I like to do lots of soups
34:12
And these great fall vegetables, and this is not exactly a side, but I love a squash soup
34:17
A butternut squash soup is really great and easy to make. If you have a Vitamix or a blender, you can do it right on your stovetop
34:23
I like great fall fruits and fruit salads. I eat lots of fruit salads
34:28
Clyde and I make a lot of fruit salads at our house. Other side dishes, my wife is from..
34:35
Your wife. Yes. I'm not really you. You're not. But I must look great Yeah my wife I don have a wife Well my wife
34:55
It has been a lot of fun having y'all in our house, y'all, for Halloween
35:02
Take it away, Paula. It sure has. I so appreciate y'all putting up with mine and Paula Wiena's silliness tonight
35:12
But you know it's Halloween. And I think sometimes it's good for an adult to go back and pretend like you're six again
35:21
Just step back into the time that you didn't have a worry in the world
35:25
Of course, you can't stay there long or you would really get messed up
35:29
But just let your hair down and just act like you were a kid again, just for a short time
35:37
And I always love spending time with y'all. And I hope y'all enjoyed Paula Wiener coming back and visiting with us
35:45
I was so glad to see her. The only thing is she is so pretty
35:50
She really almost makes me mad. Anything else we need to say, crew
35:55
Happy Halloween, y'all. The crew has worked so hard to get the kitchen all decorated
36:03
And I appreciate everything they do. And I hope y'all enjoyed it
36:07
And listen, y'all get out there and have a safe and happy Halloween
36:11
And we always send y'all love and best dishes from our kitchen to y'alls
36:18
Happy Halloween. Happy Halloween, y'all
