Hey, y'all
0:11
Ooh, we're in here talking about Thanksgiving and all the good stuff we're going to make
0:17
OK, so here's the big secret reveal. My genius auntie, who can do anything in this world
0:25
she can't bake a honey, right? She has never made desserts. So get to work, Aunt Peggy
0:32
Tell me what you're doing. I'm thinking about cutting up the apples
0:37
That's a great start. We're just going to cut them down the center, and then we're going to cut them just like this
0:43
Got it. To be careful that you don't cut yourself, it's probably better to turn your apple over like that
0:51
We have three different kind of apples. We have got them sliced
0:54
We're gonna toss them with a half a cup of sugar, a fourth of a cup of light brown sugar, a teaspoon of cinnamon
1:05
All right, Aunt Peggy, I'm gonna put this in front of you so that you can start stirring everything up as I put everything in it
1:15
I'm gonna add about a half a teaspoon of salt. I'm gonna give you one tablespoon of flour
1:22
and that gonna help thicken the juice that comes out of those apples And I going to squeeze about two tablespoons of lemon juice over our apples
1:34
That's going to help bring out the tartness in those delicious apples
1:40
That lemon juice will keep your apples from turning dark. Yes, it will keep those apples from turning dark
1:47
All right, so we are going to take our crust. I'm going to put this in as evenly as I can
1:55
because we're going to trim this. All right, so I'm going to come in here
2:00
and I'm going to very gently trim our crust and then in our apples go
2:07
And this is really going to cook down. That appears to be a lot of apples
2:14
but after they cook, they'll be just like the perfect size. I can see that
2:22
All right, now, we've got some butter right here. We cannot make an apple pie without butter
2:29
so we're just gonna come in here. There we go. All right
2:34
I've got another crust in here. Hey! We've got to put the top crust on our pie
2:45
Now, I want to get that as centered as I can, and I think for this one
2:49
I will switch over to scissors And I just gonna go around there and cut this just like this Aunt Peggy if you would crack that egg
3:00
I'm gonna need an egg wash to make the top of our pie shiny
3:06
Got it right here. And I'm gonna come in here and just put a little of that egg wash
3:14
on that bottom crust because I don't want those crusts coming apart
3:21
All right, I want to be very gentle with this. Aunt Peggy, you see what I'm doing
3:28
All right, now we're just going to take our egg, and we're going to brush this
3:32
and this is going to make it beautiful and shiny, and it's going to turn it a beautiful yellowish golden brown
3:40
And then we're gonna do about four slits in it, and then that's gonna go in the oven
3:48
We're gonna bake it at 450 for about 20 minutes, then we're gonna cut down our oven to 350
3:55
and bake it for another 50 minutes, and it's gonna be out of this world
4:01
And for our pie, Aunt Peggy, Brandon, you're strong. You're young and strong
4:07
So I'm gonna get right over here. Can you do it, baby
4:12
I can do it, I've been working out. So here we go here our masterpiece Henry Oh Henry Oh my precious Henry Oh
4:29
Hey, my angel! Y'all, this is one of my grandsons. This is Henry
4:34
Reed. And he is Guinea's sweetheart. I love him better than ice cream with whipped cream on top
4:43
Yeah. You sit right up here, baby. Guinea's gonna give you some apple pie and ice cream. Look-a-there, look-a-there. We're gonna sprinkle
4:53
it, Henry, with a little sugar-sugar. And look, Ginny's got some whipped cream. And
5:01
then Ginny likes pretty. You know how Ginny likes for everything to be pretty
5:05
You need some vegetables on here? Yes, I got some vegetables on there. Stick your finger in the whipped cream
5:14
Yes, I do, Angel. So making this apple pie is worth every bit of trouble
5:26
When that special grandbaby comes in and says they want a piece of pie
5:32
it makes it all worth it. You love me more than ice cream
5:39
I love you more than butter
