- Hey, everybody, I'm Bobby Dean, and I've got another great
0:02
and quick fresh recipe for you today
0:04
that I think you're really gonna like.
0:06
It's a vinegar marinated squash and zucchini salad.
0:09
Really fresh, really simple, great ingredients.
0:13
And it's one of those things that you can make it,
0:16
put it in the refrigerator, let it sit.
0:18
And probably the longer it sits, the better it'll be
0:20
so you can put this in the fridge for a few hours.
0:23
Like, you know, think coleslaw.
0:24
When you make coleslaw and you let it sit
0:26
in the refrigerator in the bowl for a little while,
0:27
it's cold and it really just gets better and better.
0:30
So, let's get started.
0:32
And I don't have a whisk, but I'll get one.
0:37
We'll start by whisking together our vinegar,
1:03
That's all of our liquids.
1:05
And we're just going to toss in all of our other ingredients
1:10
and let this marinate.
1:12
And it's right in the name that it's a marinated salad.
1:20
So to that, we'll go ahead
1:21
and add our zucchini and our squash,
1:28
which are things that I really like.
1:30
I don't know about you, but...
1:32
And oftentimes, when you're eating vegetables,
1:34
if they're uncooked, there are even more health benefits
1:39
for you if you're into that kind of thing.
1:42
We'll add to that some pimento,
1:54
- [Theresa] We have some thunder going on.
1:55
- [Bobby] Yeah, we do have some thunder. I hear it.
1:59
I hope it rains. I love the way it greens everything up.
2:03
I'm gonna gently toss these things together.
2:09
Probably need a little bit bigger bowl,
2:11
but that's all right.
2:12
This looks really, really nice.
2:14
Those colors are, that all,
2:16
that tells you everything you need to know right there.
2:17
Anytime you're eating that kinda color,
2:20
you know that you're eating really good for you,
2:22
so, you know, if that matters to you, and it does to me,
2:28
it's a really good for you recipe.
2:31
Finally, I'm just gonna chop up some basil
2:34
and we'll just rough cut it.
2:40
You know what, I think I'll just tear some.
2:45
Oh gosh, that smells so great.
2:50
Yeah, it smells like a pizza, so you can always (laughs)
2:54
tell yourself you're eating something different.
3:00
whenever you start ripping that basil apart.
3:03
I think I'm gonna use it all too, Theresa.
3:07
- [Theresa] Well, and it's like you said,
3:08
the longer this one sits.
3:12
- All this- - Yep. Yeah, that's right.
3:13
I mean, when you think about like, coleslaw, potato salad,
3:16
pasta salads, things like that, time is your friend.
3:23
- [Theresa] Really pretty.
3:24
- It's beautiful. Beautiful and sorta unexpected.
3:27
I think when you serve this, you have some friends come over
3:29
and you serve something like this,
3:30
especially on a hot summer day,
3:33
I think that people would appreciate this.
3:35
And it's always fun to do things that are unexpected.
3:39
And I think this is a bit of unexpected,
3:44
So we'll pop this in the fridge
3:45
and let it get even better with some time.
3:51
It's a really simple, I put it together very quickly,
3:54
vinegar marinated squash and zucchini salad.
3:57
I think that your friends will enjoy it.
3:58
I think you'll enjoy it on a nice summer day
4:01
so please do make this at home.
4:04
Mm! Ooh, and it's good.
4:07
It's good now. It'll be really good in an hour.
