0:00
- Hey everybody, it's Bobby here.
0:01
I've got another quick and easy recipe for you.
0:04
This one is gonna be on the decadent,
0:05
delicious and sweet side.
0:07
So if you like toffee and brownies and chocolate,
0:11
this recipe is for you.
0:13
If you're like me and you have a new neighbor,
0:15
or your kids are at school
0:17
and you need gifts for the teachers,
0:19
or if your kids just have a sweet tooth
0:21
and you allow this type of thing at your house,
0:23
this is gonna be right up your alley.
0:25
So I'm gonna start with a boxed
0:28
Chocolate Supreme cake mix, okay?
0:30
And I'm just gonna make this according to the directions.
0:32
So we'll take a quick break right now,
0:34
I'll do that and then we'll come right back.
0:37
So I made the brownie mix.
0:41
I made a mistake, I said that it was a chocolate cake mix,
0:43
it's not, it's a brownie mix.
0:45
And I've got the brownie mix made
0:47
and my pan is greased and ready to receive the brownies.
0:51
But let's get to the toffee and chocolate part.
0:54
We're using these bars in the center.
0:57
The brand doesn't matter,
0:59
but it's chocolate, toffee and nuts.
1:02
And the recipe calls for three six ounce bags.
1:06
These are seven ounce bags.
1:09
So, you know, use your discretion.
1:11
You can either use a little more chocolate
1:13
or you can nibble on it to bring it down to six ounces.
1:19
Great. So I'm gonna use half of my brownie mix here
1:25
and spread it into the bottom of my pan.
1:27
This is a layered brownie,
1:29
so we're gonna go brownie mix, chocolate, more brownie mix.
1:35
And if there's any leftover crumbs of chocolate,
1:37
then maybe we will pop that right on the top.
1:40
Just wanna make sure we've got even brownie mix
1:42
all over the bottom of the pan.
1:49
Mm, brownie mix. Mm, smells good even before it's baked.
1:54
I love brownies. I like to bake.
1:57
You know, there was a time when I made
1:58
all of the desserts in our restaurant,
2:00
the Lady and Sons here in Savannah.
2:04
But only after I was the dishwasher, pot scrubber.
2:12
You gotta wear every hat
2:13
when you're in the restaurant business,
2:14
you gotta be able to do it all.
2:18
And eventually I became
2:20
the front of the house manager for the restaurant
2:22
that would eventually get
2:23
Meal of the Year in the entire world
2:26
from the USA Today newspaper in 1999
2:30
for Lady and Sons. Dun-da-da-dun.
2:33
That's right, I was a real baker.
2:34
Okay cool. So we've got our first half of brownie mix
2:37
in the bottom of the pan, looks real good.
2:39
And I'm going to, just like that,
2:50
with chocolate. Look at that.
2:52
I know what you're doing at home right now watching this,
2:54
I know you're going, "No, you did not".
2:58
And I say, "Oh yes I did".
3:01
So this is where it helps
3:02
if your chocolate is broken a little bit like mine was,
3:06
you can break some pieces up
3:08
and get them all throughout,
3:12
these little chunks, tidbits of chocolate, ooh,
3:16
to make sure that all of my
3:19
brownie mixture gets a little (indistinct) on the chocolate.
3:22
Oh, look at how good.
3:25
I think I've got really good coverage there.
3:28
There's chocolate over every part of the brownie mix there.
3:34
Could almost use more brownie mix, to be honest.
3:41
So thick- - You could probably
3:42
make this in a smaller pan too,
3:44
if you wanted to. - Yeah, I think that's true.
3:46
I think that's true. - If you want more,
3:47
you know what I mean? If you want more depth
3:49
in you're brownie. - Mm-hm.
3:55
we've made a choice, we're gonna stick by it,
4:04
Yeah. But a smaller pan wouldn't hurt.
4:09
And I may have, you know,
4:10
gone a little overboard with the bottom layer.
4:16
a little too much brownie mix in the bottom.
4:18
That's okay. So we're gonna spread this on top,
4:21
make sure it's equal.
4:23
This is gonna be a brownie chocolate sandwich.
4:28
Voila. My brownie chocolate.
4:33
I don't know if you can see the layers in there. Woo.
4:36
Looks beautiful. Now into the oven
4:38
according to the directions on the brownie mix box,
4:40
which is 30 minutes at 350.
4:42
So let's take a break and I'll see you in a few minutes.
4:45
This looks and smells so good.
4:50
It's still really warm.
4:57
It might not be pretty coming out,
5:04
but oh boy, does it look good?
5:07
It's making my mouth water.
5:16
(cutlery clanging) Nice.
5:19
Sometimes you find exactly the tool you need.
5:25
I was just standing here thinking,
5:26
"Man, I just needed one small spatula".
5:30
Spatula. Man, this is really, really warm.
5:48
Now if you wanted to go the extra mile
5:51
and get some vanilla ice cream and a piece of mint
5:55
or something like that.
6:06
Have a dander at that.
6:08
That's our layered chocolate brownie.
6:13
I'll taste it, but I think I'll do that in privacy.
6:16
So thanks for tuning in.
