Welcome back to the Lady and Sons.
0:03
We're here for Cinco de Mayo.
0:05
We're gonna make Jamie's Texas Margaritas, Savannah style.
0:09
So this is a drink that we've been making here
0:13
We don't generally do it on the rocks or anything like that.
0:16
We got this big nice machine.
0:17
We make it in three, six, nine,
0:21
or 12-gallon batches.
0:23
This time of the year,
0:24
we're making about nine gallons at a time.
0:28
But we're gonna show you how to make it at home.
0:31
You don't have some of these things,
0:33
I'll show you a nicer, easier way to do it.
0:35
Here in the restaurant, we have a rimmer that we use
0:38
for our glasses to get that salt, sugar,
0:41
or whatever kind of rim we want on it.
0:43
But I'm gonna show you how to do it at home
0:44
with just a couple plates and some lime juice.
0:48
So I just squeezed a fresh lime,
0:51
and just a little bit of kosher salt.
0:54
And when we make this drink,
0:55
we're just gonna coat the outside just a little bit
1:04
we're gonna use el Jimador Reposado.
1:06
You could use any tequila you really want.
1:09
I like Reposado in my margaritas,
1:12
but everybody likes different things.
1:20
we're gonna do six ounces of tequila.
1:23
This is not a one-drink batch.
1:25
This is gonna make you about four drinks.
1:30
And you could just pass it around,
1:30
put it back in the refrigerator, freezer,
1:32
save it for the next time.
1:35
So we're gonna use our handy dandy measuring cup.
1:51
I'm a little heavy on it, but that'll be okay.
1:53
So just put ice in the blender.
1:55
We're gonna add some limeade here in just a minute,
1:58
and it's gonna be cold as well,
1:59
so I don't use a whole lot of ice.
2:02
We're gonna use a wheat beer, Southbound.
2:04
They're a local brewery here.
2:07
They have a lot of seasonal beers,
2:09
but this is one they generally carry.
2:10
They also carry all the time a beer called Mountain Jam,
2:14
which is probably my favorite.
2:16
But it's a little too heavy, in my opinion, to have in this.
2:20
So our restaurant in Pigeon Forge,
2:23
they decided to do it with Corona.
2:24
It tastes just as great.
2:26
We tried it here, but we like to feature local beers
2:29
and local spirits here in Savannah
2:30
because it's a big community down here.
2:33
So with this, we're gonna use four ounces.
2:37
Same thing, you can go a little heavy on it if you want.
2:43
Either way, this can's open, so you gotta drink it anyways,
2:46
so if you wanna put the whole thing in there, go ahead.
2:55
What makes this different is this.
3:01
So this limeade that you could buy at a grocery store.
3:04
I remember drinking this as a kid.
3:06
We're gonna take this whole thing
3:09
and dump it right on in there.
3:13
We will put a recipe for a homemade limeade,
3:15
if you don't want this.
3:16
That's how we have to make it,
3:18
'cause we can't buy all of these
3:19
for making gallons of this stuff.
3:22
And then this is four ounces of orange juice.
3:27
It's gonna go right in there.
3:30
We're gonna blend it up
3:31
and have us a good drink here in just a moment.
3:35
Alright, y'all, we're gonna rim our glass.
3:37
So we have these for our slushies here in Savannah.
3:40
They're complimentary when you get a slushie.
3:42
You could also get 'em in our retail store.
3:44
We sell 'em by the sleeve.
3:45
Or you can just get one with ice tea if you really want.
3:48
So let's use our lime juice,
3:52
coat the outside of the rim,
3:56
And see, it looks just like you're gonna get it
3:59
in any restaurant, and you can do this right at home.
4:02
So I know this drink is already kind of frozen,
4:04
but it needs a little bit more ice.
4:06
Just enough to give you some in the bottom.
4:15
I love these, because they have the spout.
4:18
Nothing's gonna come out.
4:20
That's enough for a drink.
4:22
But if you're like me, you want a little bit more.
4:29
Here at The Lady and Sons,
4:30
we have a couple different flavors you can drink with these.
4:33
We have a prickly pear, we have peach, mango, strawberry,
4:38
or you can just drink it just like it is.
4:46
That's a good margarita.
4:50
Hey, y'all, it's Paula Deen.
