- Hey, everybody. Bobby Deen here,
0:02
and I've got a great recipe for you for Valentine's Day.
0:04
You can involve the kiddos on this one,
0:07
and this will be for the teachers
0:09
or for the Sunday School teachers or friends
0:11
or whomever you want.
0:13
Strawberry little mini cupcakes. Yeah.
0:17
Strawberry soda mini cupcakes.
0:19
This is from my mom's magazine,
0:21
just in time for Valentine's Day.
0:22
So we're gonna use a box cake mix,
0:25
and we're gonna go exactly by the recipe.
0:29
It's a strawberry cake mix,
0:33
and we're gonna use...
0:35
The cake mix recipe's called for three eggs,
0:39
oil, and a cup of water.
0:41
But in place of the water,
0:43
we're gonna use a strawberry soda.
0:45
So that's gonna give us a really nice flavor.
0:47
So we're just gonna make the cake by its own directions.
0:51
Pop 'em into our little mini muffin tins here.
0:57
And then we'll make a strawberry cream for the top.
0:59
So let's get started. In go the eggs,
1:11
- [Kid] Ola. - [Chef] Ola.
1:14
And our strawberries. - [Mom] What is?
1:15
- [Mom] Hey, son, what are you cooking?
1:18
I'm making strawberry soda mini cupcakes from your magazine.
1:24
- [Chef] And you're just in time to watch me mix.
1:26
So our cake mix is complete.
1:28
And now all I have to do is I'm gonna use this
1:31
handy little scoop here
1:34
and fill up all these mini muffin tins
1:37
and try not to make a huge mess.
1:39
Now remember, your cake is gonna expand,
1:41
so about two thirds of the way
1:45
is all you're looking for.
1:54
Yep. So now in the oven, 350,
1:57
I don't know, maybe in about 10 minutes
1:58
I'll check 'em and make sure they are perfect. Okay.
2:01
So we'll come right back.
2:02
All right. So now for the strawberry buttercream,
2:05
which you're gonna start
2:06
with two sticks of butter, of course,
2:08
six and a half cups of confectionary sugar,
2:17
some strawberry syrup,
2:24
and just a pinch, just a half teaspoon
2:29
of strawberry extract.
2:30
This is gonna be a very, very berry flavored cupcake.
2:36
And you know, you're looking at this,
2:37
you're going, "Six and a half cups of confectionary sugar,
2:39
and two sticks of butter."
2:41
Remember, the cupcakes are mini cupcakes. They're small.
2:45
So portion control is key here.
2:53
Our strawberry buttercream looks really, really great.
2:56
You can see the consistencies
2:57
are kind of thick here and dense.
2:59
That's gonna be really nice right on top of the cupcakes.
3:02
So, we're gonna pull the cupcakes out of the oven,
3:04
let them cool just a little bit, and then we will ice 'em.
3:08
The strawberry cupcakes came out beautiful.
3:10
They're little mini cupcakes.
3:15
I've got a piping bag with my buttercream in it,
3:19
and you can get these bags with the tips already on 'em
3:22
at Big Box stores, so no worries there.
3:25
Or, you know, you could always use a bag
3:29
and cut the corner of it.
3:30
There's, you know, ways that you can do it.
3:33
So anyhow, we're gonna go ahead and
3:37
add a little buttercream to each cupcake.
3:42
And these star tips can really make you look like a pro,
3:52
Look how great our cupcakes look.
3:54
And with the piping bag,
3:57
so easy to just look like a a pro with that.
4:00
And then the last little piece, right on top,
4:05
little candies, little conversation candies.
4:08
Here you go. And you're all ready for Valentine's Day.
