0:00
- Y'all I was talking about in a earlier video
0:04
about school is now out officially as of tomorrow.
0:09
It's gonna be a long hot summer
0:11
for all you parents of young children
0:13
and a lot of you grandparents of younger children.
0:19
So, this recipe is for those folks
0:25
that need a treat for their children
0:27
or their grandchildren that is more on the healthy side.
0:33
So, we've got two cups of sliced strawberries.
0:36
We've got a third of a cup of sugar
0:40
and we're gonna let this sit.
0:42
We're gonna stir it up real good,
0:44
and we're gonna let it sit for about 15 to 20 minutes
0:47
until the granulated sugar starts dissolving
0:51
and pulling that strawberry juice outta that fruit.
0:56
Then we're going to add two teaspoons of vanilla extract.
1:03
And then, this is going into our blender
1:11
whichever you choose to use
1:14
along with one cup of Greek yogurt.
1:18
And we are gonna just puree it,
1:20
and then we are gonna transfer it
1:22
to our little Popsicle containers that
1:27
you know, fit in your freezer.
1:30
All right, so we gonna let that sit just a minute.
1:33
Y'all see that juice?
1:36
It hadn't been five minutes.
1:39
And look at the juice that that sugar
1:41
has pulled out of those
1:44
beautiful God-given strawberries.
1:48
All right, so I'm gonna pour this into our blender
1:54
and I'm gonna make sure I get all that sugar
1:57
that didn't quite dissolve
1:59
in that short length of time
2:02
because we did not do it the whole 15 to 20 minutes.
2:08
I wanna get it all out.
2:11
And now, we're gonna add one cup
2:29
this is why I was telling y'all
2:32
that it's a healthier, little healthier treat
2:36
than so many of them out there.
2:42
And this will make six,
2:58
- [John] What are you making?
2:59
- I'm making popsicles for y'all.
3:03
- Strawberry popsicles.
3:06
- Funny that it's popsicles, and it's an ice creamsicles.
3:16
Well this is a brand new,
3:22
I'm still trying to get used to it.
3:26
These remind me of, you know,
3:28
the popsicle that looks like a rocket machine.
3:32
- That kinda reminds me of that ice cream bar.
3:37
So now, we're just gonna fill, oops.
3:44
We're just gonna fill that up.
3:46
- It looks Like a strawberry smoothie.
3:50
I dunno if I got too much or not.
3:54
Oh gosh, that's good.
4:04
So, this'll take about four to six hours
4:10
Uh huh, before you can have one.
4:13
I might spend the night tomorrow.
4:19
Yeah, you got your last day of school tomorrow.
4:21
You need to go on your last day.
4:25
John injured his leg,
4:30
It's more like your thigh, isn't it?
4:35
- And his mother took him to the doctor.
4:38
And what did the doctor say?
4:43
- She said to do these like, stretches.
4:53
overdid something, hmm?
4:57
I was like a, I was an overuse injury.
5:00
- [Paula] And you just kept going
5:02
even while it was hurting?
5:05
I just kept on going.
5:06
I didn't know that like,
5:08
I was hurt or anything cause I didn't feel it.
5:11
- Oh, you didn't feel it right when it happened?
5:14
Well, I was walking through the living room,
5:19
- I can't believe it's taking so long.
5:22
- It's taken like three or four months.
5:27
Now John, like I said, these go in the freezer.
5:31
if you're not wild about strawberries,
5:34
you could do blueberries, blackberries,
5:40
- Mhm. - You know, banana.
5:42
Yeah, you could change your fruit around.
5:45
But I think the strawberry is
5:48
a unanimously favorite fruit.
5:53
So, these are gonna go in the freezer.
6:01
so you don't have to wait for a popsicle.
6:06
- [Ms. Teresa] We were teasing you.
6:09
Last time I got it, I liked the popsicles a lot.
6:11
I mean, not popsicles, strawberries.
6:17
I'm probably gonna have to run this
6:18
under a little warm water
6:21
Or maybe the warmth from my hands.
6:37
- [John] It's perfect.
6:44
(John giggles lightly)
6:48
- You weren't expecting it, were you?
6:53
So, what's the verd--
6:54
- Mm, this is good. - Yes!
6:57
- Mm. - Kid approved.
7:04
Happy summer. - This is healthy?
7:08
But we don't have to tell anybody that.
7:17
