- Hey, y'all, I am fixing to take a walk
0:04
down memory lane today with this next recipe.
0:08
I know when you see these, aunt Peggy,
0:12
that you're gonna probably remember them.
0:16
Because when I got so tired,
0:20
aunt Peggy would come over and help me.
0:23
And, Bubbles, my best friend, gave me this recipe,
0:33
they're things that you would serve
0:34
at a cocktail party, something like that,
0:37
because they're done in a miniature pan.
0:46
you know, making a sandwich out of that little biscuit,
0:48
but you could, you could.
0:50
But, when Bubbles told me about this, gosh, it was in 1989,
0:58
the year that I started The Bag Lady.
1:02
And so I loved them, so, she made them, and I tasted one,
1:07
and I loved 'em so much, I started making them.
1:10
And if I had, say like a chicken salad on lettuce,
1:17
I would stick one of those little
1:19
sour cream biscuits in there, you know,
1:21
just to have to have a bite along
1:24
with their chicken salad.
1:27
So, this I mean, this goes back to 1989, great great.
1:33
Oh my gosh, I would call her and say,
1:36
"Aunt Peggy, as bad as I wanna do this so bad,
1:38
"I don't think I can.
1:41
"I don't think I can hold up another day."
1:42
And you know what she would say?
1:44
"Well, you damn well can, and I'll be over there tomorrow."
1:51
And she would come in and stay,
1:55
sometimes she'd stay two weeks.
1:58
But she got in there in that kitchen
2:00
and she helped me produce, and held me up,
2:03
and I'm so grateful for that,
2:09
'cause I was tired a lot of the times.
2:12
But, so anyway, the sour cream biscuits, here we go.
2:17
It's two cups of self-rising flour.
2:20
Now, you talking about simple and easy,
2:23
two sticks of room temperature butter,
2:27
and I'm just gonna try to cut that in.
2:33
I might need a cutter inner.
2:36
(man talking indistinctly)
2:47
You really wanna make sure that your butter
2:49
is at room temperature, this is a little,
2:53
still a little hard, but,
2:57
not hard but, not totally at room temperature on the inside.
3:03
So I'm just gonna make sure I get this in there good.
3:07
And then we're gonna add one cup of sour cream,
3:13
Okay, so I'm now gonna add the sour cream,
3:22
and it's a solid cup,
3:26
eight ounces of sour cream.
3:31
Now, I'm spraying these real good
3:34
'cause even though they got a lotta butter in 'em,
3:40
I don't wanna take the chance on them stickin'.
3:45
All right, and I'm gonna spray this too
3:47
so it won't stick to that.
4:01
And you wanna try to get the, you know,
4:03
do 'em all the same size
4:16
Yeah, that looks about right.
4:20
Okie doke, we got 'em.
4:21
Now this recipe normally makes about three dozen y'all,
4:25
but between Theresa and I, we made ours a little bit bigger,
4:29
so we only got two dozen.
4:31
But they're going in the oven at 400 degrees
4:34
for about eight to 10 to 12 minutes,
4:37
you know, depending on your oven.
4:42
Does that look familiar yet great great?
4:48
Look at our biscuits, our sour cream biscuits.
4:56
It is so easy to make, y'all, just make sure,
4:59
I can't tell you how important it is,
5:01
that your butter be at room temperature.
5:06
Aunt Peggy, do you recognize this?
5:11
Do you remember the little
5:14
clear plastic containers we used
5:17
and I put the lettuce and the chicken salad?
5:21
- And then I would stick one of these in.
5:25
- It is charming, isn't it?
5:27
- Yes, it's. - And people loved 'em.
5:36
- I don't know how to eat dainty.
5:43
In fact, that reminds me of a story.
5:46
When I was on that cooking channel,
5:51
they sent a notice to Gordon, my producer,
5:56
"Please tell Paula to take princess bites,
6:01
"that she is putting too much in her mouth."
6:07
And I said, "Well, I appreciate the constructive criticism,
6:10
"but y'all know where y'all can go."
6:16
'Cause this is the way I eat!
6:24
Thank you, my bubbles for.
6:27
- [Peggy] And what do you call this?
6:29
- Sour cream biscuits.
6:32
So Bubbles, you keep on going to those functions
6:40
and bring home to mama some more good recipes.
