- Sunday I had Jamie and Bobby
0:03
and their families over to eat.
0:06
Bobby said, Jamie said, Mama,
0:07
it's just been such a long time since I had
0:11
one of your home cooked meals.
0:13
Would you cook for us?
0:15
And I said, you know I would, son,
0:17
just tell me what you want.
0:20
And so I fixed it and Jack and Maddie came in
0:27
and wanted to make, wanted to know where the recipe
0:31
for my lemonade that I make.
0:33
'Cause last time Sullivan was here,
0:36
Sullivan and Matthew came in here
0:39
and made the best pitcher of lemonade you've ever tasted.
0:44
So I pulled out my juicer
0:48
and Jamie said, Mama, tell me about that.
0:53
I said, well son, this is very, very old.
0:57
It's from the fifties and I adore it.
1:02
It works better than anything new that you could buy today.
1:06
And this belonged to my Uncle Bob.
1:10
And Uncle Bob was a bachelor.
1:12
He didn't marry until he was like 40 years old.
1:16
And he's the one that worked at Cypress Gardens.
1:20
And then he got into modeling,
1:21
moved to New York and modeled up there.
1:25
And he married a wonderful woman named Beth.
1:33
And I was over at their house not too too long ago.
1:39
And Beth said, Paula, there's something that I want you
1:41
to have because I think you would appreciate it
1:49
So before Uncle Bob went to New York,
1:53
he lived at home with Mom and Dad.
1:56
And that was in Winter Haven, Florida.
1:58
And that whole yard was nothing but grapefruit
2:03
So every morning he could go out, pick him some fruit
2:06
and come in and juice his grapefruit and his oranges
2:10
and have fresh juice every morning.
2:16
So Jamie said, I want that, Mama.
2:18
I said, okay, put your name on it.
2:20
He said, no, I'm taking it tonight.
2:23
I said, no, not tonight.
2:28
Oh, I forgot the bowl to put under it.
2:36
That could been disastrous.
2:50
Look at the job that thing does, Eddie.
2:57
I mean it gets every bit of it.
3:10
- [Paula] So you can see it.
3:14
And it's got a little, like a little grate
3:18
inside of this I'll show you.
3:22
And it catches all the seeds,
3:25
which is really great when you're doing lemons and oranges
3:30
'cause they got so many seeds.
3:38
- [Eddie] Smells so good.
3:40
- [Paula] Doesn't it smell delicious?
3:42
- [Eddie] It smells like when you got series of orchards
3:46
Eddie's talking about the ride at at Disneyland,
3:53
Disney World where, that soaring ride.
3:59
All right, now come on little fingers.
4:01
Get down there and get it.
4:05
Limes don't hardly have any, any seeds in 'em.
4:11
Not like a lemon does.
4:14
But you can see there was not the first seed.
4:18
Not the first seed in there.
4:28
So I have felt so guilty
4:31
that I told Jamie he could not take it home.
4:36
I'm gonna give it to him this weekend.
4:40
I just feel so guilty because Jamie is my child
4:45
that he has a real attachment to anything
4:51
that's got a story, that's been in our family a long time.
4:57
And right after Jamie said that,
5:00
Bobby was in the living room and he said, Mama.
5:08
And Bobby never has asked me for anything.
5:12
He said, Mama, you know this thing right here
5:15
that you told me that Daddy gave it to you for what,
5:20
It was our, I said, he gave it to me
5:23
on our 10th wedding anniversary, son.
5:25
And it came from an Ethan Allen store.
5:29
And you and your girlfriend at the time,
5:32
y'all all lived with us and y'all had to have a rabbit.
5:39
And I was crazy, I think starting up the bag lady.
5:45
So I went in the living room one day
5:47
and that little rabbit was just eating away
5:53
I don't know what happened to that rabbit.
5:55
I certainly didn't hurt it.
5:56
I think they have given it to somebody
6:04
But you wanna see it, Eddie?
6:07
- [Eddie] I've seen it.
6:08
- Yeah, but have you seen where the rabbit chewed on it?
6:12
I said, great time of day.
6:14
I can't have nothing, y'all, but this is it.
6:20
So Bobby said, well Mama, I sure would like to have that.
6:25
And Jamie said, Mama, I remember crawling up
6:29
that when I was like two years old.
6:33
So there was Jamie's memories.
6:36
- [Eddie] They haven't spoken
6:38
to your doctor or anything, are they?
6:40
- [Eddie] Why are they putting their names
6:43
But that was, what if my Grandmama's Eddie.
6:46
- [Guest] How are you?
6:48
- Oh, I know she had an old crystal Christmas head.
6:54
- You know like a little.
6:55
- [Eddie] Santa Claus head.
6:56
- Yeah, a Santa Claus head.
6:57
And I said, Grandma, I don't want you to leave,
7:00
but when you leave, could I have that?
7:03
And she said, put your name on it, Paula Ann.
7:05
There's some tape in there.
7:07
My name is still on it where I wrote it
7:15
So that's what you have to do, put your name on it.
7:21
Hey, y'all, it's Paula Deen.
