- Hey everybody, it's Bobby here
0:01
and today we're gonna do something that I really,
0:04
really like and that is a fruit smoothie.
0:08
Let's talk about smoothies for a moment.
0:09
They are very healthy and can be very nutritious
0:14
or they can be very fattening and un-nutritious.
0:18
And there are a few tips that I want to give you
0:20
on making a smoothie.
0:22
First thing is I like to use very cold water when
0:26
I'm making a smoothie.
0:27
Nothing like a tepid smoothie to to tamp your appetite
0:31
and make you not want it.
0:33
And I also enjoy using frozen fruits.
0:38
I think that's perfectly fine
0:40
and it makes for a nice cold, icy smoothie.
0:43
I do like to go, especially with strawberries.
0:46
I do like to go organic with strawberries.
0:51
With the peaches, yeah, I didn't,
0:54
but with strawberries in particular,
0:55
I do like to go organic.
0:57
So simple ingredients, the fewer the better.
1:00
The best smoothies to me have just water
1:03
and fruit and maybe a couple of flavor ingredients.
1:07
And today our little extra flavor ingredients
1:09
are gonna be a little bit
1:11
of ginger and a little bit of lime juice.
1:12
Now, when I wake up in the morning,
1:15
the first thing that I do is drink some lemon water,
1:18
some fresh squeezed lemon into a cup of warm water.
1:22
It's really important to get water
1:24
into your system right away
1:25
first thing during the day, before you have your coffee
1:27
or anything else, just water.
1:29
And lemon juice and lime juice really, really are good
1:34
for your system and they aid in digestion.
1:37
They'll just help you get things moving.
1:39
And same thing with the ginger.
1:40
It's really, really good for all of your gut.
1:44
So let's get started.
1:46
I've got a, this is unimportant, but this is a
1:49
'cause a blender is kind of a blender, but this is a Vitamix
1:53
and I have no relationship with Vitamix, but I like 'em.
1:57
Got one at the house.
1:59
They make great soups and they also make great smoothies.
2:02
They're super durable and they last a long, long time.
2:05
So some really cold water.
2:09
This came out of the fridge, so that's not, that's not
2:11
just tepid tap water.
2:13
And I'll go ahead and add in my lime juice and my ginger.
2:21
Now I do lots of, lots of jujitsu and I lift weights,
2:26
and a smoothie after those two things,
2:29
it's just, gosh, it's the best.
2:32
And I hate having to go to the store to buy one.
2:33
I mean there are places that sit that sell smoothies,
2:37
but there's nothing like making one at home on your own.
2:40
And you could add to it too, some protein powder,
2:42
different things that you could add.
2:45
But this is gonna be a really simple and just plain fruit
2:48
Alright, so a half cup of frozen strawberries,
2:51
and I'll measure 'em, whatever.
2:55
Or you could use more if you like.
2:58
So half cup of strawberries and a cup of peaches.
3:03
This is gonna be so, so tasty.
3:09
Do y'all like smoothies?
3:11
Do you like smoothies, Theresa?
3:15
- [Theresa] I would have to add a little honey.
3:20
- But yes, I love smoothies. - So yeah, they're wonderful.
3:24
Anytime of day. - Back to school is
3:27
This is a good way to get some nutrition
3:29
in your children fast.
3:30
- Our kid, hey, I'm glad you said that.
3:31
'cause my kids really, really like smoothies, so yeah,
3:34
we make 'em as often as we can.
3:36
Okay, so we're gonna go ahead
3:37
and take our break 'cause there's nothing fun
3:39
about listening to a Vitamix purr for about 60 seconds.
3:42
So take a quick break and I'll see you in just a minute.
3:47
Now, frozen fruit really will bind up a blender.
3:52
So if you find it not mixing,
3:54
just add a little bit more water.
3:56
Added a little more cold water to mine.
3:58
And now it's beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
4:03
Ooh, peach and strawberry are my favorite flavors.
4:10
I'm gonna drink every bit.
4:12
Oh, I'm drink every bit of it. Let's give it a shot.
4:21
Mm. That's very, very good.
4:26
And I'm getting the ginger, little ginger finish.
4:34
Fruit smoothies are simple to make.
4:36
They're super nutritious and I love 'em.
4:39
It's great for summertime and the kids love 'em too.
