- Hey y'all, a good bit of y'all reached out to us
0:05
and said they think it's time for another tour
0:09
of our living space where we stay in this house
0:13
and because Eddie will change things around and it's fun.
0:21
It's fun.
0:22
Sometimes I walk in and feel like I'm in a new house.
0:26
A lot of y'all have commented on this picture.
0:30
And this is a picture that was painted by Jim Richardson,
0:36
and his last name Richardson?
0:37
- I think so. - Fabulous artist.
0:40
And we were doing a painting, a Paula Deen painting party.
0:45
And he was the guest artist.
0:48
And he gave us tips while we were painting
0:52
and just, like I said, a great talent.
0:56
So this wall was so hard to, you know,
1:01
do anything 'cause it's that hard stuff.
1:03
What is it?
1:04
Is it, what material is it, Eddie?
1:09
- [Eddie] Let's see, what is?
1:11
- Is it...
1:12
It's not porcelain.
1:14
I know it's not porcelain.
1:15
I know it's not soak stone.
1:16
This is soak stone right here.
1:20
And this, and this is ceramic, wood ceramic?
1:28
- [Eddie] No, no, no, no, it's not ceramic.
1:29
Gosh, I can't think...
1:31
- You'll think of it though, I'm sure.
1:34
And I just love this chicken sitting here.
1:39
It pulls out some of the brighter colors on the portrait.
1:46
And I gave this to Aunt Peggy years ago.
1:49
So since she's living here in Savannah now,
1:52
I brought it on so I could look at her,
1:55
look at my chicken and think about her along the way.
1:59
And for, was it Valentine's Day
2:03
that Michael gave me this beautiful old copper?
2:06
- [Eddie] That was for your anniversary.
2:08
- Anniversary, March the 6th.
2:10
So I do love copper, do love it.
2:14
And look at this, this is a meat.
2:20
From the 1700s, y'all.
2:23
Look at it.
2:24
And that's what they cooked their meat in.
2:28
I guess just put it in the fireplace
2:30
and cooked away, you reckon?
2:34
I don't know, but I just love it.
2:36
I love old stuff.
2:38
And Michael says, "I'm so glad you do."
2:42
'Cause he getting old. (chuckles)
2:44
So, I don't know what y'all have seen
2:49
and what you hadn't seen.
2:51
The only thing I'm not real crazy about in this room
2:54
is this big sofa right here.
2:57
I'm not crazy about it.
3:00
There's no other place to put it.
3:03
And of course, we sit here all the time.
3:05
I just wish it was a little smaller, not so long.
3:10
And we added these pictures.
3:13
Our daughter-in-law Ashley gave these to me for Christmas
3:20
of our dogs, Max, Lulu, and Gus.
3:26
And I love them so much.
3:28
So, so much.
3:31
Eddie, when did you give me this lamp, this chicken?
3:34
- [Eddie] Oh, that was two Christmases-
3:37
- I was going to say, I thought it was
3:38
like two Christmases ago, and what is this chicken?
3:45
It's a real old...
3:46
- [Eddie] It's a Staffordshire chicken,
3:49
Staffordshire porcelain. - Staffordshi...
3:52
Say it one more time. - Staffordshire.
3:55
- Staffordshire. - You know,
3:56
like Staffordshire dogs.
3:57
- Yes, yes, we got some, I think over there in that cabinet.
4:03
But this is beautiful,
4:05
and Eddie had it made into a lamp for me,
4:07
so that chicken is just gorgeous sitting there.
4:13
Oh, and Eddie buys the best presents, y'all,
4:18
because he knows me probably better
4:20
than anybody else in this whole world.
4:24
Because he gets to see me any time of day, good or bad,
4:30
he gets to see it. (chuckles)
4:33
So he knows what I like and what I don't like.
4:36
And he gave me this beautiful, beautiful,
4:40
beautiful silver chest.
4:43
And I'm not going to hit anything, am I?
4:49
And when Michael and I married, I never had silver.
4:56
So I started my silver pattern,
5:00
and now we've got a place to keep it.
5:03
I just love it, Eddie.
5:04
It's beautiful.
5:06
And that came from Tapley's.
5:09
If you haven't been to Tapley's, I just love it.
5:11
It's like a big yard sale, but then there's like 70 vendors
5:17
and there's some really high-end vendors in there.
5:21
So you know, you can find something for $500 or $5,000,
5:25
just depending on what you're looking for.
5:28
And I don't think anything has changed over here.
5:30
- [Eddie] Well, so the biggest comment
5:33
is your dining room changed.
5:38
You had bought a round dining table
5:42
for this space where you had,
5:44
this is a different farm table
5:47
than what you originally had there.
5:48
- Yeah.
5:49
- [Eddie] And so the farm table, we moved out and we put-
5:55
- Where is it? - It's in Michael's garage.
5:57
- Oh, okay, good.
5:59
- [Eddie] And the round table just was not, I loved it.
6:04
And you loved it,
6:07
but the round table just was not fitting this space-
6:10
- And it didn't work with
6:11
the chande... - The chandelier-
6:13
The room was more rectangle.
6:15
The rug was rectangle.
6:18
The serving piece was-
6:21
- Yes, I said, "Oh gosh, what are we gonna do?
6:25
What are we gonna do?"
6:27
And, "Pauline, you're sitting crooked, honey.
6:31
Get your act together."
6:34
Maybe she can't, but she's sitting crooked.
6:38
Okay, just sit any way you want to, girl.
6:42
But, so I came home one day,
6:44
walked in the house and it looked like this.
6:49
And...
6:52
- [Eddie] So now, I didn't just do it.
6:54
I didn't just do it because I felt like doing it.
6:57
I've been listening to all kinds of things,
7:01
you know, how the family used the space.
7:03
- Uh-huh, uh-huh. - And no one ever sat
7:07
in this big room.
7:08
- Never. - That had two big sofas
7:11
and four chairs.
7:13
- Yeah, we had a sofa right here.
7:15
We had a duplicate mirror image of the couches.
7:23
- [Eddie] And then your dining table
7:25
only had six chairs around it.
7:29
So when all the family went here,
7:31
we were setting up folding tables, card tables,
7:35
children's tables.
7:36
- And praying that they could maybe eat on
7:37
one of the porches.
7:39
- [Eddie] And so this table, which is beautiful,
7:45
and it works really well in this room with the dark,
7:47
you know, the mahogany.
7:49
- I love the base of this table, Eddie.
7:53
You know, and you can actually keep things
7:55
on that level down there,
7:57
like your napkins or salt and pepper.
8:01
But I do, I love this table, and it's actually got leaves.
8:04
- Yeah, so it extends out- - I'm so spoiled
8:07
by the Lazy Susan.
8:11
And I'm not talking about you, Bubbles. (laughs)
8:15
- [Eddie] So by moving the table in here,
8:19
I was at, we had a smaller farm table out in the garage
8:23
and I moved that in here.
8:24
So that gave us really when we needed it
8:28
almost another 10, 10 spot to put chairs that we use.
8:33
- [Paula] You know, and that round table
8:34
was beautiful over there in front of that sofa,
8:38
but we didn't use it.
8:40
I don't know why.
8:41
It's like we couldn't make ourself go past the farm table.
8:45
- [Eddie] Yeah. So this...
8:48
All right, so then we ended up creating actually
8:50
another seating area. - Yeah.
8:52
- [Eddie] That no one really sat over there either.
8:57
- And they use it now and chairs,
9:01
because when the family's here, they wanna watch TV.
9:04
- Right. - So don't have
9:06
to move any chairs around.
9:08
All we have to do is just swivel them around
9:12
and this gets used now, a good bit.
9:19
- [Eddie] And I think this room really opened up a lot
9:21
by getting the sofa out right when you walked in the door.
9:25
- [Paula] Yes.
9:26
- [Eddie] It just, I don't know,
9:27
I just think you have more space.
9:30
- And we can see how many, two, four, six, eight,
9:34
we can see 10. - You can get 12 pairs
9:37
when the leaves are on.
9:38
- Yeah, I mean, the leaf will bring it out like this much
9:43
all the way around.
9:44
And it's so nice when I have that number
9:48
that's sitting at the table.
9:50
I just enjoy the roundness,
9:53
because you can see everybody
9:55
and you can talk to everybody in a rectangle table.
9:59
About the only person you can talk to
10:01
is the person to your right or left.
10:04
- [Eddie] And my number one biggest fear
10:07
of having this beautiful table-
10:10
- What? - In your everyday space is...
10:14
(Pauline laughing)
10:16
- Oh my goodness.
10:19
Are you gonna point out something I'm gonna hate?
10:21
- [Eddie] Is that.
10:23
(Pauline laughing)
10:25
This is the farm table I can handle a spot on it,
10:28
but that mahogany table, that would-
10:30
- Yeah, that wouldn't be pretty.
10:31
- [Eddie] That would hurt my soul.
10:32
- It's a spit. (laughs)
10:35
Well, I'll watch it like a hawk, baby.
10:37
I promise.
10:39
Has this always been here?
10:41
- [Eddie] Yes, yeah, that scrape has always been here.
10:42
- Okay, well, somebody asked me the other day,
10:44
we were sitting here eating,
10:45
and they said, "What happened here?"
10:47
I said, "Lord, I've never noticed it."
10:49
- [Eddie] Yeah, I'm getting ready
10:51
to get the dark wax out again, yeah?
10:54
- [Paula] Well, look at that,
10:54
how long has that one been like?
10:56
- [Eddie] I think that happened last night.
10:57
- Last night? Oh, you know what I did?
11:02
I had a diet soda, and I set it right there.
11:07
Last night, and it sat there all night.
11:09
- [Eddie] That table, this table, I can work with.
11:12
The mahogany table is a little unforgiving.
11:15
So that table would have looked messy pretty fast.
11:19
- But a tablecloth, I don't think a tablecloth would.
11:26
Well, it'd be hard to use a tablecloth, wouldn't it?
11:30
But so I think that's how we've done different.
11:32
Of course, he changed up the mantles.
11:37
- [Eddie] Well, we got some, you know,
11:39
with Aunt Peggy moving here,
11:41
we got some of her blue and white from her house,
11:44
so we added that.
11:45
- Yeah, a couple of pieces.
11:53
But I think I had...
11:56
- [Eddie] The top two ones,
11:58
the top two ones are from her house,
12:01
the smaller ones are yours.
12:04
- Yeah, I had.
12:06
But I just love the blue, you know, God's colors,
12:10
the blues and the greens.
12:14
But that's all we've done, right?
12:16
- That's it, yeah. - That's all you've done.
12:17
- [Eddie] That's it, just these two rooms.
12:19
- And I just love over here,
12:26
looking at all my little bitty stuffs.
12:30
I just love it.
12:31
And I'm so in love with mud men.
12:36
I think they're just beautiful.
12:38
And these are the small mud men.
12:43
You can look and tell that they were made out of mud,
12:49
like dried, hardened mud, and then they painted them.
12:56
Oh, so back to this table,
12:58
it came from Joe's Seventh Heaven.
13:01
- Yes. - We've taken you on
13:05
tours of Joe's store.
13:07
And it's best that I not go in there very often
13:10
because I'm really out of space.
13:15
So anything, another mud man.
13:18
Love them.
13:21
Like I said, you can look at the bottoms
13:24
and tell that they're made out of mud.
13:26
I can't imagine somebody forming that mud
13:31
into those beautiful shapes.
13:35
So is that it, Eddie? - That is it.
13:37
That's all the changes we've made.
13:40
- But you never know, come back tomorrow.
13:43
'Cause living with Eddie is really fun. (laughs)
13:48
