- Hey everybody, and happy St. Patrick's Day from Savannah.
0:03
St. Patrick's Day, that means only one thing,
0:06
drunk people and Rice Krispie Treats.
0:10
What is better than Rice Krispie Treats?
0:15
Lucky Charms Rice Krispie Treats.
0:18
Today we are gonna make a new, different and better
0:23
St. Patrick's Day version of Rice Krispie Treats.
0:26
So it's gonna start with a warm pot on the stove
0:30
and a stick of butter. (package crinkling)
0:32
Only one stick of butter?
0:35
Only one? (Jamie chuckling)
0:37
Only one bag of marshmallows?
0:41
And the pan is warm so we're gonna melt the butter,
0:43
which is not gonna take long 'cause my pan was already hot.
0:48
The butter's melted and I don't wanna let it burn
0:50
so I'm gonna stir, stir, stir, stir, stir
0:52
and I'm gonna add our marshmallows.
1:01
And I'm gonna let them melt, but not completely.
1:06
Gonna let 'em get about,
1:08
oh, halfway or a little more melted
1:12
and then we'll turn off the pot
1:13
and we'll take it from the heat.
1:16
We'll stir in the rest of our delicious ingredients.
1:18
Oh, Lucky Charms Rice Krispie Treats.
1:22
Who'd've ever thought?
1:23
Theresa, did you know that they still make Lucky Charms?
1:25
- [Theresa] Yes, I did. - You did?
1:26
- [Theresa] I used to love Lucky Charms.
1:28
- It's amazing how much I can't believe I still have teeth
1:31
as much of that kind of stuff as I ate when I was a kid.
1:35
- [Theresa] Cap'n Crunch was the best.
1:37
- Oh God, all those cereals.
1:39
So, Cocoa Puffs, Fruity Cocoa Puffs, Count Chocula,
1:45
Fruit Loops, Apple Jacks.
1:47
I think Apple Jacks were my favorite.
1:49
Y'all remember Apple Jacks?
1:50
Do they still make those?
1:51
- [Eddie] Yeah. - [Theresa] Yeah!
1:56
So these marshmallows are, golly, they're melting nice.
2:02
That looks about where I want it
2:04
as far as melting is concerned.
2:07
Still make out that there's a marshmallow shape in there,
2:11
but they are mostly melted.
2:13
So let's go ahead and turn off our stove.
2:15
Oh, not up, off, sir.
2:21
I better put it on a cold element
2:23
and let's add in our Rice Krispies.
2:36
I used to love these too.
2:39
Now I'm more of an oatmeal guy.
2:45
The older you get, you know?
2:51
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
2:58
And gently and we'll also add in our Lucky Charms.
3:02
This is what's gonna make it over the top St. Patrick's Day.
3:06
This is gonna give us that good festive color.
3:10
And Theresa, you wanna pour in,
3:11
how many Guinnesses do you wanna pour in?
3:12
(Theresa laughing) Just kidding.
3:18
Some might wanna do it.
3:19
You know, on St. Patrick's Day, all bets are off.
3:24
At least in Savannah it's true.
3:26
If you have never been to Savannah for St. Patrick's Day,
3:28
it is quite an event.
3:32
There is lots of, I don't know, libations,
3:37
a lot of music, a lot of partying, a lot of walking around.
3:40
People are super, super happy.
3:44
- [Theresa] There's a lot of family.
3:47
like not so much in the touristy section.
3:50
- Yeah, it's a very family, summery event.
3:55
Just kidding. The parade is.
3:57
The parade certainly is.
3:58
Okay, so I've got this mixed together
4:01
and then I've got my 9 by 13 pan over here,
4:05
already sprayed and into our pan we're gonna go.
4:11
Did I miss anything? I think not.
4:15
No, we're good to go.
4:17
All right, so let's get our mixture into the pan.
4:28
There it is, Teresa, all it goes.
4:33
I think this is gonna be really good.
4:35
I was making a little bit of fun, but not so much anymore.
4:45
It's nice and spread out in here.
4:48
I remember liking Rice Krispie Treats when I was a kid too.
4:53
All this stuff, man, all of it.
4:58
Ooo, look at that. All that marshmallow in there.
5:02
If you don't have any cavities right now,
5:05
stick around, you will.
5:09
- [Theresa] You know, you could also,
5:11
if you wanted it a little more green,
5:12
you could just add some food coloring.
5:13
- Food color would do it.
5:15
- [Theresa] And you're gonna laugh when I tell you this,
5:17
but there are actually marshmallows that match Lucky Charms
5:22
that you can find sometimes in your marshmallows section.
5:26
- [Theresa] And you could put those over the top
5:27
if you really wanted to take it to a whole nother level.
5:33
I like the idea of the food coloring.
5:34
I think that's the one I like.
5:36
You could do sprinkles too.
5:37
- Sprinkles you could do, yeah, sure could.
5:40
Okay, that looks really, really good to me.
5:47
let 'em chill for 30 minutes
5:50
and then just cut 'em up and enjoy, which we will do.
5:54
The hardest part is waiting.
5:55
So let's take a break.
5:57
Well, the Lucky Charms Rice Krispie Treats
6:00
are outta the refrigerator.
6:01
They're nice and cool and they're ready to cut.
6:03
So gonna see if a butter knife will do the trick.
6:14
How many do you think we're gonna get outta here?
6:19
Nope, that's not quite right.
6:31
Yeah, we're just gonna have a wide one.
6:46
Oh, happy St. Patrick's Day.
6:56
man, those marshmallows are, like, thick.
7:07
Who wants Rice Krispie Treats, Theresa?
7:12
And Ed and Aunt Peggy and Mama and Michael.
7:23
Let's see how they are.
7:35
Happy St. Patrick's everybody
7:38
and when you make your Rice Krispie Treats this year,
7:41
make 'em with Lucky Charms.
7:43
I don't think you'll be disappointed.
7:45
Please have some, Teresa.
7:47
(Theresa and Jamie laughing)
