0:01
- Hey y'all, I'm still here in my kitchen
0:03
and I'm still on the way to my exercise class,
0:06
but I thought I can squeeze in one more recipe
0:10
and that recipe is honey butter biscuits.
0:14
Who don't like a honey butter biscuit?
0:17
Now I'm gonna start with my flour.
0:20
I've got baking soda, baking powder,
0:26
salt and sugar, just a little bit of sugar.
0:33
And the honey I'm using today,
0:36
I decided to use the Paula Deen Orange Blossom Honey.
0:41
I just adore, adore this honey, mm!
0:46
The orange just gives it...
0:50
it's like an iced tea,
0:51
you know the orange pekoe tea?
0:54
It just gives it so much flavor.
0:56
Now I've got my butter that's cut up in the cubes.
1:04
Oops, it tried to get away from me,
1:06
but ain't no butter leaving me!
1:10
Alright, so I'm just gonna cut this in
1:12
until it resembles coarse meal.
1:15
I'll share with y'all a little tip.
1:18
It takes a minute to get that butter to a coarse state.
1:26
So when you first start cutting in your butter,
1:30
you're gonna need to keep you a spatula close by
1:33
and then pull it out, because it'll get all stuck in there.
1:36
So you just keep doing it.
1:38
But mine's ready, so you see, well, I'll show you.
1:48
I've got it fine enough that it's not sticking.
1:51
Two little pieces of butter got caught in there,
1:54
but that's perfectly good.
1:56
So I've got my buttermilk and I'm gonna add it to my honey
2:05
and then I'm gonna add that to our flour.
2:11
Let me incorporate those two things real good.
2:28
That looks good enough to drink right there, Theresa!
2:34
I can't drink buttermilk, but I do love it in dressings.
2:45
So I'm gonna add my honey buttermilk.
2:52
So I'm gonna put this out on my counter
2:57
and then I'm gonna pour my dough out
3:17
and I'm gonna knead this for a couple of minutes.
3:21
I don't wanna over-knead it.
3:24
This dough looks really good.
3:32
So you can roll this out or you can pad it,
3:37
I'm just gonna pad it
3:40
and I don't think I've got a biscuit cutter over here.
3:44
- [Theresa] We're gonna have to break for a second,
3:49
- [Theresa] That was easy.
3:50
- Let's see, yes, this is the new biscuit cutter
3:55
that's in the stores now, in the Paula Deen stores.
4:01
But this one's a little smaller,
4:03
so, oh, that's a pretty biscuit, y'all.
4:09
I don't care what y'all say, that's a pretty biscuit.
4:12
Now I'm using my hotcake pan to...
4:16
pass me that spatula, please?
4:20
Ooh, it's nasty. (Theresa laughing)
4:26
I'm gonna use my hotcake pan
4:29
and I heated me up a little butter,
4:36
'cause a little butter don't hurt a biscuit.
4:42
These are beautiful, beautiful biscuits.
4:46
I like my biscuits touching each other,
4:50
because I like a soft center.
4:56
So I took my extra that I had from the first go around
5:00
and I kneaded it back together again.
5:10
So, two, four, six, seven, is that seven?
5:15
Two, four, six, seven and I think I can get one more.
5:20
Beautiful, my grandma Hyres
5:22
used to put that thumbprint in them.
5:26
So in the oven, a regular home oven,
5:30
it calls for 400 degrees,
5:32
because I'm putting it in that hot baby right there,
5:37
I'm gonna lower ours to about 350
5:42
and now I'm gonna flip these
5:43
so they'll have butter all over 'em.
5:48
Y'all picking up what I'm putting down?
5:54
I hope I'm not messing 'em up.
5:55
I've never flipped them before,
5:57
but I just like the idea of butter being on all sides.
6:06
Depending on your oven,
6:09
when they rise and they're brown, you know they're ready.
6:12
Alright, there are our biscuits, y'all,
6:14
all nice and toasty brown.
6:16
Now I'm just gonna mix up a little honey butter.
6:23
And it's that simple to make honey butter.
6:28
I love making different flavors of butter,
6:35
because like the girl said,
6:38
"Butter just makes it better."
6:58
Theresa, can I butter you one?
7:03
You're in and it's hot, hot, hot.
7:09
It almost looks like, from kneading it,
7:12
my dough was in layers.
7:18
- [Theresa] This is gonna give you a lot of energy
7:22
Just saying I want you to know.
7:25
- That's my story and I'm sticking with it, honey,
7:29
the story you telling.
7:34
And I love, I think I might need more butter on yours.
7:39
Oh no, it looks pretty buttery!
8:00
And this would also be good y'all with syrup,
8:06
like a syrup biscuit.
8:11
I can't have enough honey, mm.
8:21
I think I'm gonna need to workout, what y'all think?
8:25
Oh, ow, that's so hot.
8:31
Well, one more bite and then I'm leaving for my workout.
8:39
I'm not going eat this whole thing, Theresa,
8:43
Love and best dishes, y'all!
