0:00
- Y'all know it's Easter time,
0:02
and everybody I know loves deviled eggs.
0:07
So I'm gonna share a recipe, an herbed deviled egg recipe.
0:15
And you know what I like?
0:18
I like my filling to be not skimpy.
0:22
So what I do is I mash up some of the white
0:28
and add it to the yolk,
0:30
and that's helped stretch it.
0:33
And I got more filling to put in the eggs.
0:36
How about that? (laughs)
0:38
How about that for a trick? (laughs)
0:41
And, you know, you can't see it,
0:45
you can't see it in the yolks.
0:47
But like I said, it just helps me stretch it,
0:51
'cause I do not like a skimpy stuffing for my eggs.
1:03
Okay, so that's that.
1:06
But I'm gonna take one more
1:08
and I'm gonna mash it up and add to it.
1:12
Make sure I got plenty of fillings.
1:18
And, you know, at Easter time,
1:21
I don't know if anybody makes real Easter eggs anymore,
1:27
'cause I go in the stores and everything,
1:29
got all these plastic ones, so I don't know.
1:33
But for us it boils the eggs, it makes real ones.
1:41
You know, there's no way you can sit down
1:43
and eat all of those boiled eggs
1:45
so you have to find something to do with these eggs.
1:50
And I will put them in casseroles or devil them.
1:55
'Cause everybody loves the deviled egg.
1:58
So we just gonna mash that up good,
2:01
mix that white in with our yellow.
2:10
And you could actually do this
2:11
in a food processor if you want real smooth.
2:16
Okay, so I've got mayonnaise, I've got sour cream,
2:22
I've got dill, and I've got chives.
2:27
And of course, I've got salt and pepper.
2:32
And I got a stuffer 'cause I'm gonna squirt this on
2:39
All right, so in with the mayonnaise,
2:45
in with the sour cream,
2:49
and I'm gonna dice up our chives.
2:53
I was thinking I needed one more.
3:00
- This is- - Cilantro?
3:01
- Oh, cilantro. Yeah, we got our cilantro in our...
3:06
Now, you may wanna ask,
3:08
depends on who you're feeding these deviled eggs to,
3:12
like my boys don't like cilantro.
3:14
They said it tastes like soap,
3:18
which is, I don't get that.
3:20
But I have heard other people
3:23
say it reminds them of soap.
3:36
All right. So now we've done our dill.
3:41
I think dill's real good in deviled eggs.
3:48
Dill is good in so many things.
3:52
So you wanna chop this up pretty good,
3:56
'cause that's a tiny little hole that we have to fill up.
4:00
(knife tapping continues)
4:06
So we need to make these a little on the small side.
4:17
There is so many ways to make deviled eggs, y'all.
4:23
And at The Lady and Sons store,
4:27
we carry some of the most wonderful mustards.
4:35
- [Filmer] Yes. Nice.
4:39
- [Filmer] Think we've got a dill mustard,
4:41
and think we've got a...
4:42
- You know what? - Spicy mustard.
4:44
- And because that looks so white,
4:47
I may put a little mustard in this.
4:50
All right, so we need one tablespoon.
4:54
Mm, don't know where my tablespoon went.
4:57
Here he is. There's two over here.
5:00
I got you. Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha.
5:05
All right, so one tablespoon of cilantro,
5:10
one tablespoon of fresh dill,
5:13
and one tablespoon of chives.
5:24
Okay, there we go. (laughs)
5:28
Don't have to measure that 'cause I can look at that
5:30
and tell it's a tablespoon.
5:34
So like I said, we don't have to...
5:38
Oh, look how pretty that is.
5:41
I just love all those herbs in it.
5:50
So we're gonna need a tablespoon of cilantro.
6:06
All right, then we're gonna do our,
6:12
calls for one teaspoon of salt.
6:13
It's a pretty good bit.
6:19
So I may not do quite that much.
6:24
You know what, I think I want fresh ground.
6:28
I just love the way fresh ground looks 'cause it's bigger
6:35
And I like being able to see it.
6:41
This is so pretty and the texture is just right.
6:45
So I don't think I'm gonna put any mustard in it.
6:56
But I am gonna get use of a piping bag
7:04
and pipe it on there.
7:08
And piping bags are easier to handle
7:12
if you'll roll the top back
7:16
and put it in a tall enough glass
7:20
that it will hold your bag up.
7:35
Woo-hoo! That's good.
7:39
All right. So I may have to fill my bag twice.
7:44
So you just wanna push your deviled down to the bottom
7:54
and then just squirt, squirt squirt.
8:08
Let's see, do I have some more dill?
8:15
- Good. - On the counter here.
8:20
So this just lets people know
8:25
what all's in those eggs.
8:36
Doesn't that just look tasty yummy?
8:41
Delicious, deliciosus.
8:47
There we go. Just that easy.
8:57
Sorry. This is so delicious.
9:04
I highly, highly, highly recommend
9:08
putting in some egg whites.
9:10
And if I was doing this for company,
9:14
I'd definitely do it in the food processor
9:17
to get it real, real smooth.
9:20
And I would recommend that you take it back
9:24
to a half a teaspoon of salt, just in case.
9:29
But they are delicious. (laughs)
9:33
Mm, mm! Look at the stuffing. (laughs)
9:41
Cut back on the salt.
9:44
Love and best dishes.
9:47
Now boil those eggs so the children can find them
9:54
and bring 'em to you and make deviled eggs.
9:58
Or we have a towel that says, my chickens...
10:04
What does our tea towel say?
10:13
My chickens make deviled eggs, or something like that.
10:16
Anyway, it's cute. (laughs)
10:19
Love and best dishes, and happy Easter, y'all.
10:22
