- Hey, everybody, it's Bobby,
0:01
and I've got another beautiful salad recipe for you today
0:04
that I think you're really gonna like.
0:05
And it's really simple.
0:07
It's a green leaf lettuce salad,
0:08
and I've already washed and drained my lettuce
0:11
And so we've got our base here.
0:13
And to it, we're gonna add some apples,
0:15
that's a Honeycrisp apple, some dried cranberries,
0:18
some pistachios, chives, little salt and pepper.
0:21
And we're gonna make a homemade dressing to go with it.
0:24
That's really simple, too.
0:25
And I think that you'll like this.
0:28
Doesn't require a whisk or anything else.
0:30
We're just gonna add our ingredients together
0:34
So it's buttermilk-based, so there's some buttermilk.
0:44
We're off to a good start.
1:13
Little shake of hot sauce, just a little.
1:33
A pinch of salt and pepper.
1:34
My aunt Peggy, I know I've said this many times,
1:36
but my aunt Peggy used to make some homemade salad dressings
1:39
and have them sitting on the counter.
1:41
Oh, gosh, I used to love to walk into her house,
1:44
and she'd have beautiful,
1:46
fresh green salads made and a homemade dressing so good.
1:50
So just in a ball jar, that's what I've always called it.
1:54
Give it a nice shake.
2:00
Would you like a cocktail, Theresa?
2:02
- [Theresa] Don't forget the chives.
2:04
- I'm just gonna put them on the dress.
2:05
Oh. Oh, that's in the dress, of course.
2:11
Theresa just reminded me that the chives
2:14
should be in my dressing.
2:17
Mm-hmm, so let's do that.
2:48
So some chives into our dressing, too.
2:58
(ball jar thudding) (liquid sloshing)
3:05
(container clattering)
3:17
- [Theresa] You look shocked.
3:20
- I always love that. - But it's good.
3:22
(Theresa and Bobby laughing)
3:23
- It's your mom's recipe. - Like, I'm surprised.
3:25
Oh, man, that's good, I was expecting it to not be.
3:27
No, it really is, it's very, very good.
3:30
I mean, when you hit it exactly the first time,
3:32
that was the surprise.
3:34
It's like, "Oh, I didn't need to add anything to it
3:35
or do anything else."
3:36
It is just really, really good.
3:38
Okay, so we'll add pistachios, the shelled pistachios.
3:43
and some dried cranberries.
3:48
Or excuse me, dried cherries.
3:59
Let's go ahead and toss that a little bit.
4:04
That's beautiful already.
4:09
And you serve this right away.
4:10
You don't want that apple to turn
4:13
into a brown honey crisp,
4:20
So, if you wanna add cucumbers and tomatoes to this,
4:23
you could, this is the way this recipe calls for.
4:24
But if you wanted to add to this, you could.
4:30
In this dressing, we'll...
4:32
You refrigerate this, and that'll hold nicely for...
4:38
(container clattering)
4:42
Get back in there, pistachio.
4:47
Full of iron, I think it is.
4:57
That's a nice-looking salad.
4:58
Make sure the salad dressing
5:00
touches a little bit of everywhere.
5:04
And that looks really, really nice.
5:10
What do you think, Theresa?
5:11
What do you think, Ed?
5:13
Looks good, right? - [Theresa] Mm-hmm.
5:14
- Mm-hmm, bon appetit.
5:18
Beautiful, and there you have
5:21
a beautiful going green leaf salad.
