- Hey, everyone. It's Bobby here.
0:02
And, boy, do I have a great recipe for you today.
0:06
Now, I've heard that some of you
0:08
still are not eating your vegetables,
0:11
so I'm gonna help you with that.
0:12
I'm gonna make them a little bit more desirable
0:14
and delectable today.
0:16
"How could I do that?" You might ask.
0:18
Hmm, well, how about adding some bacon?
0:20
Take a look over here. Boy, is this pretty.
0:24
Number one, the carrots are beautiful,
0:26
and when you leave the green leafies on the top
0:28
and you kind of trim 'em up, they really look pro.
0:30
This looks fantastic.
0:31
So, what we've got are glazed bacon-wrapped carrots.
0:35
I've taken care of the first step on four of the carrots.
0:38
I've got two more left to go,
0:39
so I'll show you how you would wrap these in bacon.
0:42
And it's really gonna be just that simple.
0:44
So I'm gonna wrap 'em up, toss 'em in the oven,
0:46
we'll take a little break, and then we'll come back
0:48
and I will show you how to finish them.
0:51
Okay, if you don't know how to wrap bacon,
0:55
stand back and let the professional (chuckles) show you.
1:04
Carrot number five on the tray.
1:06
I've got a foil-lined baking sheet here,
1:11
and my oven is preheating right now to 400 degrees.
1:15
And what we're gonna do is we're gonna pop these in the oven
1:17
and bake them for about...
1:20
I'll look at 'em at 15 minutes,
1:22
but for about 20, maybe 25 minutes.
1:26
And when that bacon is beginning to get golden brown,
1:28
we'll pull it out and then we're gonna go to our next step.
1:30
So we'll take a quick break
1:32
and I'll see you in just a few minutes.
1:34
My carrots are in the oven.
1:36
We're gonna bake them for about 20 minutes,
1:38
is what I've set the timer for.
1:40
And we'll take a good look at 'em
1:41
and make sure they're not burning.
1:42
If they need to be turned, we'll turn 'em.
1:44
In the meantime, I'm going to whisk together
1:46
because I know that you know
1:48
there's a second part coming to this.
1:50
And the second part is honey.
1:57
Anybody else like honey? I do.
2:00
Got a quarter cup of it.
2:05
And to that we're gonna add
2:10
a little bit of hot sauce.
2:11
Okay, now this is where you can use some discretion.
2:14
If you like it hot, add a little bit more hot.
2:17
I just want some flavor.
2:18
Oh, and this is Paula Deen's Hot Sauce, y'all. Oof.
2:22
All right, so just...
2:25
I don't know, maybe 1/8 of a teaspoon to start.
2:27
If it needs more, can always add more.
2:30
But if you add too much, can't take it out.
2:34
So, little red pepper flakes, not a whole lot.
2:36
Just enough for some flavor.
2:38
And now red pepper flakes, man, these things are...
2:43
I like 'em on my salad.
2:45
I use red pepper flakes everyplace, but don't overdo it
2:48
'cause they can be a little bit, you know, hot.
2:52
Paprika, I don't have any...
2:54
Yeah, I do have a measuring spoon. Perfect.
2:56
Mom's measuring spoons are so pretty.
2:59
Quarter teaspoon is what I'm gonna go with of the red stuff.
3:04
And then we're gonna whisk it together
3:06
and we will check our carrots in the oven.
3:10
And when they're beautiful golden, we'll pull 'em out.
3:15
We'll brush them with our honey mixture here,
3:18
pop 'em back in the oven until that bacon
3:20
is like, brown and crispy.
3:24
And then we'll see who likes carrots.
3:27
All right, so we'll take one more break.
3:30
Y'all, look at my carrots wrapped in bacon,
3:32
Step out of the light there so you can see.
3:34
Woof! Those things look super, super nice.
3:39
And so to that, I'm going to add a honey mixture.
3:44
I'm just gonna paint it right on top.
3:52
I'll bet that you have never seen bacon-wrapped carrots.
3:59
It's not something you see every day.
4:01
And this might be a good way
4:03
to get your kids to eat their vegetables.
4:06
I know that my son would eat every slice of bacon
4:14
That's why he never gets it. (chuckles)
4:20
He does, just, he would eat more and more
4:22
and more and more if I let him.
4:28
Okay, so this looks fantastic.
4:29
I'm gonna reserve a little bit of this,
4:31
pop the carrots back in with it for,
4:35
you know, a few more minutes.
4:37
Let that bacon get brown and crispy
4:41
and then I'll put the rest of my honey mixture on top.
4:46
Back in the oven you go.
4:48
These are even prettier
4:50
than I had imagined that they would be.
4:54
And now, of course, bacon just makes everything better.
4:58
But how beautiful and golden brown is this?
5:01
This would make a perfect, (clears throat) excuse me,
5:04
side to a nice baked chicken or steak.
5:10
Oh, gosh, anything. It'd good with meatloaf.
5:15
It would go good with just about anything.
5:18
It's gonna go real good with my mouth. That's what I think.
5:21
So the last of our honey mixture.
5:24
You can see those red pepper flakes in there.
5:29
Man, better than I had imagined.
5:33
And oh yes, I will be tasting.
5:45
Golly, just caramelized and just wonderful in every way.
5:50
Ooh, oh, I'll bet that that is just as delicious as candy.
5:57
So let's see, carrots.
6:01
Ooh, and the carrots are just...
6:03
Man, this is gonna be a home run. Y'all need to do this.
6:14
(chuckles) How could it be bad?
6:27
I highly recommend that you make this immediately.
6:31
So, thanks for tuning in. I'll see you next time.
6:36
Hey, y'all, it's Paula Deen.
