0:02
I am thinking about Labor Day now.
0:06
Labor Day, you don't want to do a lot of laboring, right?
0:12
You want to step away from laboring for a minute.
0:15
So I'm gonna share with y'all this recipe
0:20
You can do it all ahead.
0:23
It may sound like a lot, but it's not.
0:26
You do it in like three, four easy steps.
0:29
And it's a frozen white chocolate strawberry square.
0:34
And I have put me some tinfoil in here
0:39
and I recommend that you bring it over the sides
0:44
and use this as your handle.
0:47
And I want to spray this (can spraying)
0:51
so that won't stick to that.
0:55
And this is something you can do, you know, two
1:00
or three days before Labor Day.
1:02
So you'll have no labor on Labor Day. (laughing)
1:06
All right. So I'm gonna start with half cup of butter,
1:09
which is one stick and confectionate sugar.
1:14
And I'm just gonna beat this real good.
1:18
And this is gonna be our crust
1:22
to our strawberry squares.
1:25
All right, now I'm gonna slowly add the flour.
1:37
This is like a shortbread crust
1:40
that is the start of so many good desserts.
1:45
I love a shortbread crust.
1:49
Now I've got some minced almonds.
1:54
Now I'm gonna, and it's not gonna hurt
1:56
because they're minced so you can go ahead
1:58
and beat them in with a mixer.
2:01
And then we're gonna be ready to press it into
2:05
our tinfoil that I've sprayed.
2:16
What's the cookie monster doing over there?
2:20
I heard glass tops going.
2:25
- Had to test these out.
2:28
- Oh. You know they're no good.
2:31
- [Michael] These are pretty good.
2:32
- [Paula] Oh good. You're so strong.
2:37
You're so strong, Michael Groover.
2:40
- [Teresa] So Paula, once we hit this,
2:41
it's patted down, what are we gonna do?
2:43
- Yeah. We're gonna put that in the oven,
2:45
350 preheated oven for about 15 minutes, I think.
2:51
Let me check, just double check real quick like.
2:56
Yeah, 10 or 15 minutes in a 350 degree preheated oven.
3:02
But I'm gonna go ahead and do all of our steps.
3:06
Like I said, there's four different steps
3:08
and they're all easy.
3:11
I'm fixing to take our cream cheese
3:14
and our confectionate sugar and I'm gonna beat those
3:21
and I take this out of the oven, it's gonna have
3:28
So I can get all this done,
3:30
just keep it in our refrigerator.
3:33
And after it's cool, then we can put it all together.
3:39
I said it had four steps and it does,
3:42
but it's just three layers.
3:44
So we're gonna cool our crust when it comes out.
3:48
And now I'm gonna go ahead
3:50
and do the second layer for this.
3:53
And that's the cream cheese softened.
3:58
Make sure it's softened.
4:02
And the powdered sugar
4:05
or confectionate sugar, whatever you call it.
4:09
And then I've got strawberries in syrup. Yum.
4:14
And then I'm cheating a little bit on this
4:17
because I'm gonna use the store-bought topping
4:21
because I feel like the flavors are gonna be so good,
4:26
I won't notice that it's not fresh whipped cream.
4:31
You know, I feel like some things I can cheat on,
4:35
All right. Now I'm gonna add these strawberries.
4:42
Look at these beautiful strawberries.
4:46
You know, strawberry, when my mother would make desserts
4:49
sometimes on like Sunday, she'd buy the little cups
4:54
and we'd have strawberry shortcakes.
4:57
Never did like those little cups. (laughing)
5:01
So now I use pound cake as my cup.
5:09
We've got that beat up real good.
5:12
Now we're gonna fold in our whip topping.
5:17
And surprisingly y'all, this is not an overly sweet.
5:22
Well, I ain't got that fourth step done yet. (laughing)
5:37
Okay. So we're just gonna stir this in.
5:40
We're not gonna beat it
5:42
because we don't want to break it down too much.
5:50
Looks like a strawberry cloud.
5:53
Alrighty. It's nice and combined.
5:56
So I'm gonna just stick this in my refrigerator drawer
6:01
down here because we've got to let our crust cool.
6:10
And then we'll have everything ready to put together.
6:13
All right, we're getting ready to do the last layer.
6:17
And we're using white chocolate instant pudding.
6:24
And we've got some sour cream that we're gonna add to it.
6:29
And then I've got two cups
6:33
of heavy cream here in my refrigerator.
6:37
So you know the drill for instant pudding.
6:42
This comes together so easily and quickly.
6:48
So we're just gonna put everything in there
6:50
and beat it until it forms like kind of stiff peaks.
7:09
Okay. (beaters humming)
7:10
See how easy that was?
7:13
All right y'all, I would say that this is stiff peaks.
7:20
So this will be the last layer
7:24
that goes on this incredible dessert.
7:29
And like I said, do this a couple of days before Labor Day.
7:32
So you can just be the star, pull it out of the freezer,
7:39
And you gonna be a star.
7:41
This bowl is heavy empty.
7:45
And I feel like I'm gonna drop it, Teresa.
7:49
Got to sit it down. - Okay.
7:51
- And I'm gonna spread this.
7:56
This is the cream cheese and strawberry mixture.
8:01
And that goes directly on the crust.
8:02
Now we're gonna put it back in the freezer
8:04
for about 30 minutes.
8:06
And you know, we did the pudding
8:11
with the heavy cream,
8:17
two cups of heavy cream.
8:18
So I'm gonna leave that out
8:20
because it might be kind of hard to spread on that.
8:28
This is the fourth step of the third layer. (laughing)
8:33
So we put this back in the freezer so that this layer
8:42
'Cause if we put it on it while it was soft, it might've
8:47
been kind of hard to....
8:59
And what I love about this is you being able
9:01
to make it ahead of time.
9:10
- [Teresa] When you really want to make it ahead of time
9:12
because it should sit in the freezer overnight.
9:15
- Yeah. - To really get--
9:17
- [Paula] Absolutely.
9:18
- [Teresa] To the level that you want.
9:19
But how good is this gonna be?
9:21
- [Paula] I wouldn't hesitate to keep it
9:23
in the freezer for a week.
9:27
Just cover it up good.
9:32
- [Teresa] So you labor the days before.
9:38
And then from there on it's just fun. (laughing)
9:49
And you're gonna love having this on tinfoil
9:52
because I'm fixing to show you.
9:59
Is this some good stuff right here? (laughing)
10:09
The durn, that's so heavy.
10:13
And my tinfoil's tearing.
10:18
- [Teresa] Well, we need to keep it in there
10:19
because we're putting it back in frozen.
10:22
But I'm gonna cut up a little piece.
10:24
- [Teresa] Oh, you're gonna cheat.
10:26
- Mmhmm. - Do it now.
10:27
- I sure is. (laughing)
10:41
Yeah. It needs to go back in the freezer,
10:49
- [Teresa] We know that you're impatient.
10:52
You're not good at waiting for--
10:55
Not when it comes to my food.
10:59
Okay. So here we go.
11:01
And you can imagine this being back in the freezer
11:08
and frozen real good.
11:16
Toot toot! (laughing)
11:18
Mm, love that shortbread crust.
11:29
Y'all gonna be a star.
11:33
Love and best dishes.
11:36
And remember, don't work too hard on Labor Day,
11:41
but whatever you do, stay safe.
11:44
Love and best dishes.
