- This is gon' make us real happy,
0:02
because I am fixing to make a banoffee pie,
0:07
and there's several steps in this.
0:10
We are gonna make us a graham cracker crust
0:16
in our nine-inch pie pan, and we're gonna bake that off
0:19
for just a few minutes.
0:21
And let me see, I can't remember.
0:24
Do I have to melt the butter?
0:27
Ooh, I'm gonna have to go get it soft,
0:31
'cause it's hard right now.
0:34
I got it real soft, y'all.
0:40
It's all right, 'cause usually when I make
0:42
a graham cracker crust, I usually always melt the butter,
0:54
Look at that. And I had it on defrost, y'all.
1:00
So that's like a stick, and...
1:05
Maybe a fourth of another stick?
1:18
You know, a little trick.
1:20
It's a good little trick.
1:24
Do not throw something like this away,
1:27
'cause it makes a great way to grease a dish,
1:33
and it'll last two or three times like that.
1:38
So! I'm gonna just mix this up and press it into our pan,
1:47
and we're gonna put that in the oven and cook it just
1:52
for a few minutes, just so that that crust can get firm,
1:57
and cuttable, 'cause if you didn't cook it, you know,
2:03
it would be kind of messy when you go to cut it,
2:05
so wanna make sure you get all those crumbs wet.
2:12
So that's mixed up real good,
2:14
and I like the fact that it's got that much butter in it,
2:19
'cause it's gonna give us a nice crisp crust.
2:29
'Cause that butter is gonna do its trick.
2:34
Right, Theresa girl? - Yes ma'am.
2:38
Yeah, 350. About five minutes, not long.
2:44
All right, we got banoffee pie coming up, y'all.
2:49
We're gonna take our two cans of sweetened condensed milk,
2:54
which, this is so good.
2:56
You could drink it right out of the can, y'all.
2:59
Now we are gonna put this in a water bath, y'all.
3:04
And this is gonna turn into, like, a brown toffee.
3:16
Now I'm gonna cover this with tinfoil.
3:43
Seal it up real tight.
3:55
And then I'm gonna sit it in a larger pan,
4:02
and we're gonna put this in a water bath.
4:17
And we'll wanna put enough water in it
4:20
'til it comes about halfway up the side of our pan.
4:25
Then we're gonna put this in the oven, y'all,
4:27
and we're gon' cook it for an hour and a half.
4:30
And when we take it out,
4:31
it's gonna be a beautiful golden brown toffee.
4:37
We actually cooked this about two hours,
4:39
and I'll tell you why, because we had it sitting
4:46
Should not have done that, because it was too many layers
4:51
for it to get through to cook.
4:53
So don't put this on a baking sheet,
4:58
put it in your oven just like this,
5:01
and you can see it's nice and pie-like, y'all.
5:07
So we've gotta let this cool completely,
5:13
and then we're gonna put this in our pie shell.
5:18
All right, we gon' finish our banoffee pie.
5:21
Now, this is what our sweetened condensed milk looks like
5:28
And like I said, don't put it on a baking sheet.
5:31
Just sit this pan inside a larger pan
5:37
and it will work faster.
5:39
Look at that. That stuff is so good.
5:42
It's amazing how that just turns into...
5:49
The best. No, it's nasty, Michael.
5:55
He started his diet today, yesterday.
6:06
Just gon' try to spread that around evenly.
6:11
I'm gon' sit that aside for a second.
6:16
And now I'm going to slice our bananas,
6:20
and I will be putting a little fresh fruit on 'em
6:23
so they won't brown so easily.
6:27
And it won't take me but a second to slice these up.
6:32
Calls for three bananas.
7:02
I'm gonna bring that out 'cause I wanna cover those bananas,
7:06
and that will help them not turn brown so fast.
7:15
You know, I'm gonna have to finish letting this get cool,
7:20
so I'm gon' have to put it back in the refrigerator
7:25
and let it sit and get even more delicious.
7:35
It's so nice and chilled.
7:37
And the only thing I'm gonna do is,
7:39
I'm gonna sprinkle it with just a little bit
7:42
of graham cracker crumbs, just to give it, you know,
7:46
just a little interest.
7:57
It's good. I mean, it looks delicious.
8:14
It's so incredibly good, y'all.
8:18
And it's so easy to make.
8:21
You know, the timing is just letting that sit in the oven,
8:29
you know, for a couple hours and let it turn into...
8:38
There's your dessert, my dear.
8:40
I didn't double dip, so it's safe.
8:46
Love is best dishes, y'all. I love it.
