Y'all, it is summertime, it's hot, the children are home,
0:04
everybody's hungry, uh, so I'm gonna share with y'all a
0:08
very, very quick, quick recipe, uh, to have in your freezer.
0:13
I hope I hadn't let this get too, too soft, but all in
0:18
the world this is, is, you know, like that dreamsicle.
0:24
That, uh, we used to eat.
0:28
Oh gosh, it was so good.
0:29
Alright, so I'm going to press
0:34
one inch of vanilla ice cream into my loaf pan.
0:44
I have some parchment paper or wax paper.
0:50
So we're just gonna spread that as evenly as we can.
0:57
take my spatula and try to spread it out,
1:03
like I said, into a one inch layer.
1:05
And now we're gonna come in with a one inch layer
1:09
of the orange sherbet.
1:13
And by golly, I think we've got, you know what
1:15
I think I'm gonna do?
1:30
You know, I think the sherbets are supposed
1:32
to be better for you.
1:35
Is that right, Teresa?
1:37
You know, I, I think that they tout themselves as that.
1:42
They're a lot of sugar.
1:43
I think Bobby Dean would tell us.
1:46
Yeah, yeah, I think he would too.
1:50
Alright, that, I think that's going to make it a
1:51
little easier to spread.
1:59
So, in we go with the sherbet.
2:08
Need a little bit more.
2:09
But yeah, I think it's easier, y'all, if you'll, been a long
2:14
time since I've made this.
2:20
But I think it makes it easier to spread, you know,
2:22
if you kind of beat it up.
2:30
Okay, so we just gonna alternate those layers until
2:39
our loaf pan is full.
2:43
And after this freezes back, We're going to invert it
2:50
onto a plate after it's frozen back solid again.
2:56
And that's going to take a while,
3:04
And this is going to be so pretty when we turn
3:06
it, turn it back out.
3:12
And I'm not even going to change bowls.
3:15
But you want to start with the vanilla ice cream
3:19
and end with the vanilla.
3:22
You know, ice cream might be my favorite dessert.
3:26
All right, so our final layer.
3:28
Remember, we started with vanilla and we've
3:50
Ooh, this is going to be so pretty and so good.
3:54
And, uh, I don't know if y'all remember the other day I did
4:00
a little tutorial on how to make, uh, candied orange rinds.
4:08
So I've got this to, um,
4:14
to put on the top of each slice.
4:16
When we take it out, we're going to slice it and then we'll top
4:19
it with some sweetened orange rind, candied orange rind.
4:24
Now this is going back in the freezer, y'all, until it's
4:28
hard and we can slice it.
4:32
All right, I took a hot,
4:37
hot dish rag and laid on top of it.
4:41
Now, all I got to do is take the wax paper off of it, and
4:48
I did use wax paper, but you really need to use parchment
4:53
paper, because it's a thicker, and it will come off easier.
5:01
This is a wonderful, easy dessert to have in your freezer.
5:07
in this hot, hot weather.
5:11
Isn't that just beautiful?
5:14
Look what a beautiful dessert that is.
5:17
And remember I made some sugared orange rinds
5:24
to have for cakes and pies or ice cream.
5:31
It's beautiful, isn't it?
5:44
I think I'm gonna use a fork to dig in.
5:52
Ooh, and you know I want some of that sweet rind.
5:56
What a wonderful, easy dessert.
6:01
And if you will go back and check on another video where
6:07
I show y'all how to make the candied rind, y'all do
6:13
it because it's so pretty and it just kicks it up
6:19
like you wouldn't believe.
