You know I love a dessert, even if it is 90 degrees outside,
0:07
So I thought I would share this recipe with y'all
0:10
for a chocolate chiffon pie,
0:13
chocolate cherry chiffon pie,
0:19
You just keep it in the freezer
0:21
after you get it all together,
0:23
and you can eat a piece at the time as you're ready for it.
0:27
A nice, delicious, easy recipe.
0:30
So I'm gonna start by putting two, three ounce packages
0:39
and I got my black cherries right there.
0:42
And I'm gonna dissolve that in one cup of boiling water.
0:52
and help that gelatin to start dissolving in that hot water.
0:59
And after it melts, we're gonna add a cup of ice to it
1:08
Because we are gonna be folding in
1:12
some fresh whipped cream.
1:13
Now, that's the only thing that I've changed
1:17
You know, I try almost never to use frozen toppings
1:23
because to me fresh whipped cream
1:25
is just too delicious to pass up.
1:32
So this is, it's dissolving good.
1:36
I think we could stand our cup of ice now, Teresa.
1:40
- [Teresa] I think it's a half cup, right?
1:45
It is a half a cup of ice.
1:52
But we won't, like I said, this can't be hot at all
1:57
when we fold in our whipped cream, you know.
2:00
- [Teresa] Oh no, we'd have a problem.
2:01
- So hopefully this'll have time to,
2:05
we may have to cheat and get a little bit more ice.
2:08
- [Teresa] Okay, we can, how much more would you say?
2:32
So that'll probably be like 3/4 of a cup of ice
2:37
Y'all, I started with that one, but guess what?
2:42
So we are back to the one that I use all the time
2:44
and I know how to work this one.
2:49
of these cream filled chocolate cookies in here
2:54
along with two tablespoons of butter.
2:58
And I wanna make sure I use soft butter.
3:02
So that looks about like two tablespoons.
3:20
(food processor humming)
3:38
I'm gonna add a little bit more butter
3:41
because I want those crumbs to really stick together.
3:48
So a little bit more butter doesn't hurt nothing.
3:51
(food processor humming)
4:04
that it's real fine 'cause this is our crust.
4:13
That looks pretty good y'all.
4:18
So I'm just gonna dump this in
4:22
to this is a deep dish,
4:30
So I'm just gonna press this firmly.
4:35
Yeah, I'm glad I added a little extra butter y'all.
4:51
I just want it to come up the sides some.
4:54
It's hard to get those sides packed real firm
5:00
but just have to keep pressing it out.
5:04
Okay, so that's ready to go.
5:07
Let's come over here now and see,
5:12
okay, that's nice and firm.
5:15
I would change that from two tablespoons of butter
5:19
to three tablespoons.
5:24
Get all those crumbs in there.
5:26
All right, let's come over here
5:27
and check our gelatin.
5:34
Ah, it's nice and cold.
5:49
Yes, thank you Teresa.
5:51
It calls for a 16 ounce container of frozen whip topping.
5:57
So to equal that, what did you beat up Theresa?
6:01
About a cup and 1/4? - A cup and 1/4
6:04
- [Teresa] A little over 1/4.
6:15
how it's stuck to our rubber spatula.
6:28
I wanna make sure that
6:36
I've got something that's
6:41
gonna get all that gelatin off the side.
6:45
All right, so you know what?
6:55
kinda do a reverse fold.
7:04
I'm gonna go this way.
7:06
I thought about doing it the other way,
7:08
but I decided against it.
7:16
So if you wanna replace the frozen topping
7:20
about a cup and 1/4 of heavy cream,
7:27
about 1/3 of a cup of sugar,
7:31
and just whip it until it's stiff.
7:37
So we're just gonna fold these together.
7:39
Look at the color of it
7:42
and you know the kiddies are going to love that.
7:45
I'm gonna go ahead and
7:51
fold in our cherries,
7:54
and we recommend that you use a frozen cherries.
7:59
Just thaw 'em out and drain them.
8:13
- [Teresa] When it sets, it's gonna be good
8:15
when goes over the side.
8:17
- [Paula] Well that's what it's doing sister.
8:21
Make sure I get every one of those cherries in there.
8:24
We don't wanna lose a cherry.
8:30
- [Teresa] Don't wanna lose any.
8:31
- No, so I'm gonna just kinda,
8:34
you know, make sure everybody gets a cherry.
8:38
- [Teresa] Can't remember, does this go in the freezer
8:44
- [Eddie] It's small.
8:47
- [Teresa] Why'd you have to take it there?
8:48
- Yeah, why'd you have to ruin that?
8:55
I would love for a little of the pie crust to show
8:57
but I didn't have that kind of patience
9:00
to spread it out that thin.
9:02
But it'll be beautiful when we go to slice it
9:06
and speaking of slicing,
9:09
four hours or two hours?
9:11
- [Teresa] Two hours.
9:12
- Two hours in the freezer.
9:14
So I'll meet y'all back in two hours.
9:16
I didn't think this pie was ever gonna freeze y'all.
9:20
Not cause it was taking a long time,
9:22
but it was 'cause I wanted a piece.
9:26
Oh my gosh and that crust is packed in there so good.
9:32
You know, and now the only thing
9:34
about using a real pie plate
9:41
you know, that first piece is so hard to get out.
9:45
I wonder if I should have maybe sprayed the pan Eddie,
9:50
- [Eddie] Oh, you did have butter in there didn't you?
9:52
- Yeah, there was butter in the chocolate.
9:57
Oh look, it's coming up pretty good.
10:04
Sit up there so I can see you.
10:06
- [Eddie] Okay, someone commented
10:08
on one of your videos, wanted close up
10:13
of the food and let me see what I can do.
10:15
- Yes, let's get up there close and see it.
10:22
Lemme, lemme clean the plate up.
10:26
I just ate some crumbs in that crust and it's so good.
10:29
Wait, I got to make the pie prettier.
10:32
Got to have a cherry on top, don't we?
10:38
Looks pretty good, doesn't it Eddie?
10:40
- [Eddie] Looks great.
10:43
Let's go in and see.
10:45
This is, you know, such a great dessert for hot weather.
10:56
- [Eddie] Almost want a peppermint flavor to it.
11:04
oh, I just got one of
11:07
of the cherries in it and,
11:14
the cherries you know,
11:16
we certainly highly recommend
11:18
that you use the frozen cherries.
11:26
I just love those frozen cherries.
11:28
This is delicious y'all.
11:34
And there is just nothing more I can say about
11:39
And I wanna keep eating it.
11:44
Try it, you'll like it.
