- Hey, y'all, it's Jamie Deen.
0:01
I'm back in mama's kitchen
0:02
and today I'm gonna share
0:04
a delicious dessert recipe with y'all.
0:07
It's a chocolate butterscotch peanut butter cobbler.
0:11
It's in one of mom's magazines.
0:13
You never know what you find laying around here.
0:15
Look at my number one son right there
0:17
with his Georgia shirt on and his mama.
0:20
Whoo, that's a good looking woman.
0:21
And there's mama too.
0:22
She's good looking too.
0:24
All right, y'all, so what we're gonna do today,
0:26
super easy, lot of ingredients, several steps,
0:29
but we'll go nice and slow.
0:31
So I've taken my butter,
0:32
first thing I'm gonna do
0:33
is melt three quarters of a stick of butter.
0:43
that we're gonna repeat a couple of times here,
0:45
once everything is in here, this is one of those things
0:48
where we do not stir it together.
0:50
This is a pour and a bake.
0:52
So step one, our base of our cobbler here.
0:59
We've got some sugar.
1:01
I've got cocoa powder.
1:04
And we're gonna whisk in this milk.
1:07
Let me see how much vanilla.
1:09
I know that they always tell y'all what it's supposed to be,
1:12
and I'm terrible about measurements.
1:15
One and a half teaspoons.
1:17
So we'll go, boop, boop, boop, boop, close enough.
1:22
Be careful with your vanilla.
1:25
I'm a trained professional.
1:27
(chuckling) I heard that, Theresa.
1:30
I'm gonna whisk in our milk.
1:34
I love cobblers, y'all, and it is cobbler season.
1:36
It's summer is heating up down here.
1:38
Our peaches are back.
1:41
You give me a peach cobbler
1:42
with some ice cream on a summer night
1:44
and you won't hear any complaints outta me.
1:46
I love blackberry cobblers.
1:50
You don't see a lot of chocolate cobblers,
1:52
so this is gonna be interesting to see.
1:55
So I've got all of this whipped together.
1:57
Now, while that's sitting there,
1:59
I'm gonna do our dry ingredients here in our second bowl.
2:04
I bet we should probably take a little break right now
2:06
because they tell me I don't ever take breaks.
2:08
So let's take a break,
2:09
and when we come back,
2:10
I'll be standing right here and we'll do this.
2:27
And butterscotch morsels.
2:31
I'm just gonna real simply dry mix this together,
2:35
making sure all this gets incorporated really good.
2:43
I'm doing several recipes here at mom's today
2:45
and we're starting with dessert,
2:46
which is always a good sign.
2:51
Make sure you get all this matched up.
2:54
This is a chocolate lover's dream here.
2:55
Look at all this cocoa.
2:57
All right, now here we go with the "do not stir."
3:00
Here is our wet bowl, our batter.
3:03
It's gonna go right on top of our melted butter.
3:08
Y'all know not to stir cobblers, right?
3:11
You never twist a cobbler because you want that batter
3:14
to cook its way up around the edges.
3:17
Now on top of this, we're gonna add our dry ingredients.
3:27
I know you want to. I want to.
3:30
Wait till you see what I do next.
3:32
So all of our dry ingredients are on here.
3:35
I've just got to flatten it out a little bit.
3:37
I probably shouldn't.
3:38
Now, this is the weird part.
3:45
It takes a scientist to figure out mom's oven.
3:48
We're gonna pour one and a half cups of boiling water
3:56
right on top of this.
4:00
Here comes Mama on the speakerphone, as normal.
4:04
- [Mama] Oh, I'm sorry.
4:05
- [Jamie] It's all right.
4:05
- [Mama] I gotta take my dog out...
4:08
- [Jamie] Daggommit, Mama,
4:08
I can't do but one thing at a time.
4:10
- [Mama] (laughing) Sorry!
4:15
- [Jamie] Okay. Okay. And she's talking on the phone.
4:18
This is our last half a cup.
4:21
So we've got our batter
4:23
went in right on top of our butter,
4:26
and then our dry ingredients went on top of the batter.
4:29
And then we've added one and a half cups of boiling water
4:32
and never, not one time, stirred any of it.
4:35
So I'm gonna pop this into the oven at probably 350.
4:38
I'll tell you when it's done
4:39
what I cooked it on and how long it took.
4:41
Going in the oven, y'all!
4:43
Ooh, stick around. Chocolate cobbler.
4:46
Hey, y'all, looky-looky.
4:49
This is our butterscotch chocolate cobbler that we've made.
4:53
And it just so happens, one of my favorite people,
4:55
my main man Henry, has found a seat at the right time.
5:01
He walked in and said, "Mmm!"
5:04
And I said, "Guess what, Hen?"
5:06
"You're in position 1-A today."
5:10
So this is butterscotch chocolate cobbler.
5:14
It has just come out of the oven
5:16
and look how delicious and gooey this looks.
5:20
And I know you didn't come for the green stuff.
5:23
but I'm gonna garnish it a little bit for you.
5:27
- [Jamie] So y'all, it's coming up on 4th of July
5:30
and you're gonna have people over.
5:31
You need a spoon. Theresa dear, please.
5:34
- [Theresa] That's what I'm grabbing.
5:36
- [Henry] Thank you. - Thank you.
5:36
- [Theresa] You're welcome.
5:37
Oh look, let's see Theresa today.
5:38
Look how beautiful she looks.
5:40
Look, you look so nice today.
5:42
- [Theresa] Thank you.
5:42
- [Jamie] Here's your spoon, Henry.
5:43
So listen, it's the 4th of July.
5:45
You're gonna have friends.
5:46
You're gonna have family around.
5:47
Everybody wants some dessert.
5:48
Why not take a chance to make something
5:50
that'll surprise people, a chocolate butterscotch cobbler,
5:55
for this 4th of July.
5:56
Put you a little bit of ice cream on top of this.
6:00
- [Jamie] Great day in the morning.
6:01
Henry, tell the people.
6:02
- [Henry] That good. - [Jamie] That good.
6:04
Save a little bit of your morsels
6:06
and a little bit of peanuts on top.
6:08
Really super simple. Delicious.
6:11
Your friends will be lining up on July the 5th
6:13
to see if there's any leftovers.
6:15
Thanks for tuning in today, y'all.
6:17
I'm Jamie Deen, and this is "Good Food."
6:20
See you around the kitchen.
