- Hey y'all, the recipe I'm gonna share with y'all today,
0:04
and this is kind of for the millennial age group,
0:09
because us old timers
0:11
have been making this recipe for years,
0:14
but I don't know if you millennials
0:16
are familiar with Chicken Divan.
0:18
So there's a couple of different ways you can make it,
0:22
but it's so easy, especially if you go to the grocery store
0:25
and buy a roaster chicken, just makes life so easy.
0:31
You can throw all this together before you go to work,
0:35
come home and throw it in the oven.
0:36
And it's a easy, easy meal.
0:40
So, I'm gonna start with a can of cream of chicken soup.
0:46
I got out my big bucket, (laughs)
0:48
to mix things in for this,
0:50
'cause I'm actually going to take this to someone.
0:58
It calls for 11 by 17 pans so.
1:04
It worked out real good
1:05
because I had an 11 by 17 disposable pan.
1:09
So I can take it to their house
1:11
and I never have to worry about them
1:12
having to return anything.
1:14
So, that works out perfect.
1:17
Now, I'm gonna add a can of cream of mushroom soup.
1:25
And you could make a white sauce,
1:26
but I think these flavors are just real good.
1:32
I don't think you can beat 'em.
1:34
I'm gonna stir those two soups up real good.
1:39
And I'm gonna add a little mayonnaise.
1:50
Teresa, do you make much Chicken Divan?
1:53
- [Teresa] I don't, but I love it.
1:54
- How about you, Eddie?
1:55
Have you ever had it?
1:56
- [Eddie] I have had it.
1:58
And, you know, for some reason the first time I had it,
2:02
and I don't know why, the flavor just reminded me
2:04
of Chick-fil-A a little bit.
2:05
- Oh, Chick-fil-A what? (all laughing)
2:08
- [Eddie] Chick-fil-A like seasoning I guess.
2:10
I don't know - Really?
2:12
'Cause I feel like Chick-fil-A has a dill taste to it.
2:14
- Yeah, and this has a curry. - It does taste like a curry.
2:17
- Do you really? - I think Chick-fil-A
2:19
kinda has like a curry flavor. - Well, not for me.
2:20
- Aha, I don't ever tasted curry in it.
2:23
But next we're going in,
2:27
we have got our mayonnaise and sour cream.
2:29
Now we're going in with our curry powder.
2:35
And that's, to me, that signifies the curry flavor.
2:40
It screams chicken divan.
2:45
- [Eddie] Or Chick-fil-A.
2:46
- Oh, and Eddie's warm Chick-fil-A. (laughs)
2:51
I'm gonna have to ask and see
2:52
if they use curry powder in anything.
2:54
Tell 'em I'm allergic to it. (chuckles)
2:58
All right, now I'm gonna put my Gruyere cheese in there.
3:06
I'm gonna put my lemon juice.
3:12
And we're almost done.
3:17
I just got some chicken stock, chicken broth
3:21
that I'm gonna add to it a little bit at a time
3:24
to give us a creamy sauce.
3:26
(measuring cup clinks)
3:36
Now I have made this (clears throat)
3:39
a couple of different ways y'all.
3:42
I have layered this and then poured the sauce over it
3:48
or you can mix it all together.
3:52
Been a while since I've made this, but easy.
3:54
Like I said, easy, I layer mine.
4:05
She hadn't touched her breakfast over here.
4:07
Lulu, come eat your breakfast.
4:10
You better getting into some trouble now.
4:11
See what we got here y'all,
4:22
(ladle thudding) (pot clinking)
4:25
(measuring cup rustling)
4:29
(measuring cup rustling)
4:30
What I think I wanna do.
4:35
Take, I'm gonna spill a little sauce on the bottom.
4:39
(thick sauce thudding)
4:43
Just a little like when you're making lasagna,
4:46
you know, how you want to put your meat sauce.
4:48
Well, meat sauce on the bottom of the pan fan,
4:55
And then I'm going to put my shredded chicken.
4:58
(pan rustling) (chicken thudding)
5:08
This gonna feed a crowd, y'all.
5:17
I think the people I'm taking this to will appreciate it
5:22
as they can see whatever is there.
5:26
- [Teresa] Do you? But you haven't eaten yet.
5:30
- Come eat your breakfast, Lou.
5:33
Okay, you and Eddie called it the frozen broccoli,
5:37
but I like using the fresh and it's so easy.
5:40
So I just blanched this a little bit.
5:44
There that bit tops a little big, I'll just
5:51
Lulu, you are so pitiful.
5:56
- Aunt Teresa's not listening. - Aha.
5:59
She said, "What? My sucker's letting me down." (laughs)
6:03
I'm feeling horrible too.
6:06
Oh yeah, she makes you feel real sorry for her.
6:15
So here we go. I'm done here.
6:19
Oh, you're so pitiful.
6:24
I did spray my pan with a non-stick.
6:37
(pot rustling) (ladle thudding)
6:48
I should have made a small one and kept one of these for us.
6:55
- [Teresa] Oh. (Paula laughs)
7:07
- Okay, now we're just going to smooth that over.
7:29
Now I kinda like it layering
7:31
rather than all mushed together.
7:35
We'll mix our topping together.
7:38
I'm gonna top this with some cheddar.
7:55
Love those one pot wonders y'all.
7:57
All right, now I've got a cup of buttery cracker crumbs
8:04
I'm gonna add some panko
8:12
And I've got my melted butter.
8:16
And it's so much easier
8:19
to get your crumbs butter this away
8:22
rather than trying to dot it on top.
8:25
(spoon and bowl clinking)
8:28
This is just much easier.
8:32
I'm thinking this'll be enough to cover it.
8:37
If not, I'll make some more.
8:39
Okay, we're gonna go in the oven
8:41
and just bake this off until it's bubbly.
8:46
Everything is done in it.
8:47
So we just wanna get it, like I said,
8:56
And then we're going to tote it on to my friend's house
9:06
You can make it in two individual dishes,
9:08
take it to a friend that's just coming from the hospital
9:11
or just had a baby and then keep one for yourself.
9:16
Here is our chicken divan y'all that I made for my friends.
9:21
It looks perfectly yummy.
9:26
How am I going to taste this
9:28
and then take it to somebody? (laughs)
9:31
How am I going to taste this without somebody knowing?
9:33
- [Teresa] You know how.
9:35
- I'm pretty good at it.
9:37
(spoons and forks clinking)
9:38
So I'm gonna pick me a little corner
9:47
and I'm gonna go in like that
9:51
(spoon and fork clinking)
9:54
and then I'm gonna go in like that.
10:01
Can't tell, can you Eddie?
10:06
'Cause I do my job well. (laughs)
10:12
So do try this y'all. (clear throat)
10:15
It is such a good old standby recipe
10:19
that I've never met anybody that didn't like it.
10:23
(spoon clinking) (Paula munching)
10:30
So good now. (munching)
10:36
And be sure now in the recipe
10:37
it does not call for any panko,
10:40
it just calls for the buttered crackers,
10:42
you know, mixed with melted butter.
10:46
But do add an equal amount of panko to those crackers.
10:51
'cause it gives it that crunch.
10:56
I'm gonna wrap this now and sit it over here
10:58
so I can take it to Sally, okay?
11:05
Hey, y'all, it's Paula Deen.
