- Hey everybody, it's Bobby here,
0:03
and I have got a great recipe for you today
0:04
that I think you're really gonna like.
0:06
It is summertime and during the summer,
0:08
I love to do all sorts of salads,
0:11
bean salads, all sorts of leafy green salads.
0:16
And a pasta salad is one of my favorites
0:18
'cause it's just a favorite of the whole family.
0:22
at this bow tie pasta salad that we're gonna do today.
0:25
It involves obviously bow tie pasta and green beans.
0:29
The recipe, excuse me, the recipe, everybody calls
0:32
for French cut green beans, but no need to worry
0:36
if you can only get just regular green beans.
0:38
That's what I've got here today.
0:39
French cut green beans might be a little prettier,
0:42
but this recipe with all of its colors
0:45
and its wonderful ingredients is still gonna be very pretty.
0:47
And I think you're gonna like it.
0:49
So let's get started.
0:50
We'll start with our wet ingredients,
0:53
and that will be a quarter cup of olive oil.
0:58
And some vinegar, white vinegar.
1:06
I don't always give you guys the amounts
1:08
because I know that it's gonna be on the screen there,
1:12
but today I'm feeling like giving you some amounts.
1:18
Three tablespoons of balsamic.
1:23
One tablespoon of Dijon.
1:26
I've gotten, I didn't always like Dijon mustard,
1:28
but I've gotten to where I do like it now,
1:31
but especially in a salad like this.
1:34
But I've started adding some to my ground beef.
1:38
I made some, well ground beef,
1:40
I made some elk burgers a couple nights ago
1:42
and I added some Dijon into my seasoning and it was just,
1:45
it really made it sort of come alive.
1:47
All right, so a teaspoon of season salt.
1:51
This one, I'm not gonna, I'm just gonna eyeball it.
1:54
And if it needs more, we'll come back.
1:57
So, whisk, whisk, whisk.
2:01
This is gonna be a really nice,
2:04
light base for our salad and we'll toss it all together.
2:10
With a salad like this, you could go exactly,
2:14
we've been talking about this for years.
2:16
You could go exactly by the recipe
2:17
and make it precisely like we tell you to,
2:20
or you could mix it up and do it however you'd like.
2:22
If you don't like Kalamata olives, use green olives
2:27
or pepperoncini or tomatillos
2:30
or just whatever you feel like doing.
2:33
But I really like Kalamata olives
2:35
and I also like goat cheese.
2:36
So if you don't like goat cheese, you could replace this
2:41
with a crumbled blue cheese or a feta cheese.
2:42
It's whatever you like.
2:44
So make it the first time and go, oh wow,
2:46
that was not perfect.
2:48
Let me make it perfect.
2:49
Or you can make it the first time exactly
2:50
like this and say, man,
2:52
that was a home run and I'm gonna do this every time.
2:54
So we've got our wet ingredients mixed together.
2:57
Now to that, I'm gonna add my pasta and my green beans.
3:01
We've got a lot of pasta here,
3:04
so I think I'm not gonna use every bit of it.
3:08
I think I'm gonna start with maybe about half of it.
3:14
or if the salad looks a little bit pour,
3:18
we'll come back to it.
3:20
And my green beans, I love a green bean.
3:27
And we'll just toss that a little bit together in our.
3:32
And we talk about this a lot too,
3:34
but it's important to toss it.
3:36
I don't wanna cut these beautiful bow tie pastas up
3:40
and I definitely don't wanna cream those green beans.
3:44
Wanna toss 'em and make sure
3:45
that our wet ingredients in the bottom just get all over.
3:52
Okay, so now let's add in some beautiful red bell pepper.
3:59
Oops, excuse me, some beautiful red bell pepper.
4:02
I love all these colors.
4:04
I used to do a show on Food Network
4:08
called "Not My Mama's Meals".
4:12
And my goal every time that I made a recipe
4:15
was to just see how much color I could get in there.
4:18
In fact, one of our food producers used to say,
4:22
eat the rainbow, eat the rainbow.
4:24
And I always remember that.
4:26
I thought that was just a great tip for your diet.
4:33
I mean, if you're eating lots of good color,
4:36
then you're doing well.
4:39
And again, if you're not an olive fan,
4:41
you could find something else that you like.
4:44
But I love olives and I could just stand around
4:47
and really just eat a whole jar of 'em.
4:57
It's gonna add some nice Italian flair.
5:03
And we've got some beautiful basil here.
5:05
We're lucky enough to have,
5:07
we all at our houses have beautiful gardens.
5:10
My wife's got a beautiful garden at home and we're growing.

5:17
on my counter one of those little herb gardens,
5:20
one of those electronic herb gardens.
5:23
But that thing was just, it was overflowing with so much,
5:28
so many herbs, you just couldn't believe it.
5:31
So I had to move it into a pot
5:33
and put it outside into a much bigger pot.
5:35
And I put it out by my wife's garden
5:37
and that thing looks so nice.
5:39
And we've got just herbs
5:41
and vegetables coming out of our ears.
5:43
So many tomatoes, so many cucumbers.
5:47
You just can't believe it.

What else do we have?
5:49
We have beautiful peppers.
