- Y'all, today, I'm going to be making a brownie.
0:04
It's a bourbon pecan brownie.
0:07
And they are so, so good.
0:10
And I'm going to start with some bittersweet chocolate
0:15
and I'm going to melt it in a double boiler.
0:21
And I'm going to be stirring this and keeping my eye on it.
0:26
It'll take a few minutes,
0:27
but I got the time, honey, if you got the dime.
0:32
Now I'm going to stir into our melted chocolate and butter,
0:39
and some brown sugar.
0:42
And that's really going to sweeten up
0:44
that bittersweet chocolate.
0:47
I'm going to set this aside
0:49
and let it cool a couple minutes.
1:00
And then I'm going to take my flour,
1:10
and I'm going to mix all this together.
1:16
Yeah, I'll just use my measuring spoon.
1:25
So now all we have to add is our eggs,
1:31
our vanilla, and our bourbon.
1:35
And I think, let's see, how much bourbon do we do?
1:41
Three table spoons. Whoa.
1:45
This is safe for children though, isn't it?
1:50
- [Producer] It'll bake off. The alcohol will bake off.
1:51
- You know, I've always heard that it'll bake off,
1:54
but then I read that that's not true.
2:00
that will be the parent's decision
2:07
I probably wouldn't give this to my little creatures though.
2:22
And now I'm going to transfer this to a larger bowl
2:29
because I can't fit nothing else into this one.
2:38
Even though I feel a challenge to do so,
2:43
I'm not going to give in. (laughs)
2:49
Okay, I'm going to go ahead and add
2:55
about a teaspoon and a half of vanilla extract.
3:05
And now I'm going to add the eggs.
3:14
I need four big eggs, and these are at room temperature.
3:22
These are from my own chickens.
3:29
I thought I let a piece of shell get in that.
3:35
Can you tell a difference between the eggs
3:38
from my chickens to the ones that are store bought?
3:42
Look at that big, beautiful golden yolk.
3:47
If y'all are on the fence
3:50
about ever having chickens,
3:53
I highly, highly recommend it to you.
3:56
They bring me so much pleasure.
3:58
- [Eddie] Oh, they're so entertaining.
4:00
- They are so entertaining.
4:02
Especially Fine, my one old rooster
4:05
when he gets out there with that hair standing up
4:07
trying to hoard all his women in one spot.
4:13
Okay, but you can visually see the difference,
4:20
They're much more brighter than-
4:30
Those are truly what I consider golden.
4:35
How about you, Eddie? Would you say that?
4:39
Well, I mean, they eat, those chickens, I think
4:44
eat better than I do with all the fresh vegetables
4:52
Yeah, that's plenty cold.
4:58
And I love the fact that your eggs are good for 30 days
5:03
sitting on your counter.
5:07
I love my eggs being right there at room temperature.
5:13
You can grab them for everything.
5:26
The last thing we're going to put in that is our flour.
5:31
And we're going to put in half,
5:39
But first I'm going to add our flour
5:42
and our cocoa and our salt.
5:48
You know, it looks like a lot,
5:50
you know, having all the ingredients lined up there.
5:55
But when it's all said and done,
5:56
it's just a put, put, put.
6:00
Like all of the counter put.
6:04
All right, so half of them go in.
6:09
And as it cooks a little bit,
6:11
then I'll sprinkle those on top.
6:17
Okay, now you want to make sure
6:19
that you spray your pan real good
6:21
and you want to use the one that has flour
6:26
because that will make sure that you see.
6:30
And I'm using like a eight by eight,
6:36
or maybe it's a nine by nine.
6:37
I don't rightly know.
6:41
I'm going to switch to the bigger spatula
6:46
and we're going to put this in our 350 degree oven
6:49
and we are going to bake it
6:54
for 50 to 55 minutes.
6:56
So that sounds like a long time.
6:58
But when you're waiting to have a piece,
7:02
sounds like a long time.
7:10
Oh my gosh, this is a heavy bowl.
7:22
You know me, sorry, it takes me a little while
7:24
because you know I'm going to get every bite
7:28
because that will make a bite right there, y'all.
7:37
Now our pecans were already,
7:39
we roasted them to bring out the flavor.
7:44
So I'm not going to put them on top right now
7:46
because I don't want them to get overly brown
7:48
since this has to cook for 55 minutes.
7:52
But let's put it on 45 minutes.
7:56
- Because you know my ovens are fast and they hot.
7:58
They like my husband, hot and fast.
8:02
Alright y'all, I can't wait to dig into our brownie.
8:06
Remember, it's a bourbon pecan brownie.
8:12
And I didn't wait for it to cool,
8:14
so when I cut it, it kind of came apart,
8:28
fresh whipped cream is always in order, don't you think?
8:34
It's delicious. I hope y'all enjoy it.
8:39
And again, this is great for tailgating.
8:43
Love and best dishes, y'all.
