0:00
- Well, hey y'all, it's Jamie Dean.
0:01
I'm back here in Mama's kitchen,
0:02
and you know that means two things.
0:05
I'm not going to take this very seriously at all.
0:07
And this is going to be a easy recipe
0:09
that you can enjoy for your family this summer.
0:11
Man, I sure do love cheeseburgers.
0:13
It's hotter than the hinges of the South place
0:17
around Georgia and all over the state,
0:19
so I want to do a burger,
0:21
but I want to come in from outside.
0:22
I don't want to stand outside,
0:24
and stand over the fire.
0:25
So we're doing inside burgers today.
0:27
This is a Swiss burger bake.
0:30
I'm going to do this in a casserole dish
0:33
and our ingredients are very simple and delicious,
0:35
and I got a head-start this morning, y'all.
0:38
two pounds of ground beef.
0:41
and I've got a little onion
0:43
Theresa, God bless her,
0:45
has cooked my penne pasta for me already.
0:48
So we're on to our next step.
0:54
next, we're going to put in our jar
0:56
of tomatoes that we've drained.
0:58
I've got some ketchup.
1:01
All the good stuff that goes into our cheeseburgers,
1:03
I'm going to put in here right now.
1:12
Love some mayonnaise in there.
1:18
I'm going to use Dijon,
1:19
because it's just got such a bold flavor.
1:21
I love it, instead of yellow.
1:23
And then we've got a little bit of our salt.
1:27
Now I'm going to mix all this up really well,
1:30
incorporate all of this together.
1:32
So if you've made something like this before,
1:34
the differences here,
1:35
I'm gonna use some Swiss cheese.
1:39
almost a little bit like the goulash
1:42
that mom makes for my brother,
1:44
'cause it's got the tomato sauce,
1:46
the fresh ground beef,
1:48
and it's got some pasta in it,
1:50
but there's a few ingredients
1:51
that are missing from there,
1:52
like Worcestershire sauce,
1:54
the big bowl of flavors that are normally
1:57
we've taken out of here,
1:58
and we're gonna replace it with mayonnaise,
2:01
Dijon mustard, some cheese.
2:04
Our pasta's going to go right in here,
2:06
and we'll fold it all together.
2:09
the last time I was here, y'all.
2:11
Mama's had some new pots and pans come out,
2:14
and I love this big pan
2:15
that I'm cooking in today.
2:18
and it's got about a three-inch side on it,
2:21
and I like to have room to work.
2:22
Oh no, I could have put this in a bigger bowl.
2:26
I'm gonna work this through.
2:28
I hope y'all are having a good summer.
2:30
Mom and Mike are out of town right now.
2:33
They've had a really busy summer,
2:35
and Brooke and I are so happy,
2:36
because all of our chicks
2:38
are back home in the roost.
2:39
Jack's been home for a couple of months,
2:41
and he's getting ready to gear up,
2:43
and go back off to school.
2:45
that he's a sophomore in college.
2:48
Golly, I'd just gotten to where I was accepting
2:51
that he was a freshman,
2:54
and turned into a sophomore on me.
2:56
I've got our 9 by 13 here.
2:59
I've sprayed it and treated it,
3:01
I don't want this to stick.
3:04
I don't know how hard this is,
3:05
doing this camera face.
3:09
we made enough for two pans.
3:10
- [Theresa] Oh, Lord.
3:11
- Let's see what we got here.
3:12
I'm not going to give up just yet.
3:15
I am famous for putting eight pounds of something
3:26
We just went up to Myrtle Beach
3:27
a couple of weeks ago.
3:29
We took Jack up there,
3:31
and Matthew, and Davis,
3:32
the whole family went,
3:33
except for the dogs and the rabbit.
3:35
We left them at home.
3:37
And boy, did we have a good time.
3:38
That restaurant up there is beautiful.
3:40
The area was so nice,
3:42
the beach was so nice,
3:45
if y'all haven't had a chance
3:46
to visit us down at Myrtle Beach,
3:51
and they're doing a lot of offshore dredging there,
3:55
so the shark's teeth are amazing.
3:57
We found so many beautiful shark's teeth.
4:00
I'm going three cheeses on top of here.
4:04
no, I'm just gonna do two.
4:10
I've got my orange cheese.
4:14
Boy, this looks like a hot mess,
4:16
This is just the way I like it.
4:18
I've got breadcrumbs,
4:22
give us a little crunchy top on here.
4:26
Spread this around evenly.
4:35
I love bacon on a burger.
4:43
I kept y'all here a long time today,
4:45
'cause I knew I could get
4:46
all the way through this
4:47
until our first break.
4:51
That a hot mess, or what?
4:56
and let's see what happens in about 25 minutes
4:59
when I pull this out of the oven.
5:02
surprises are always the best.
5:07
Even more beautiful than we dreamed, isn't it?
5:12
This is in the oven for maybe 20 minutes or so,
5:15
enough to get all this to come together.
5:17
Let's give it a test drive,
5:21
I was worried about this container,
5:22
but look, all that worrying for nothing.
5:33
I brought my son Matthew out here with me today,
5:35
and this is what he's gonna have for lunch.
5:37
Right after we test this,
5:42
I came all the way over here without a fork.
5:45
- [Theresa] There's one right here.
5:47
- Theresa got one for me.
5:52
Okay, y'all remember how simple this was?
5:54
Just a few ingredients,
5:55
we started with some ground beef.
6:11
Turns out, I like hamburger meat
6:13
with tomato sauce, and cheese,
6:15
and bacon, and pasta.
6:19
And just like every recipe that we do,
6:22
and turn it into your own,
6:23
you know what would be good in here?
6:25
Little bit of pesto sauce,
6:27
that's what I would do.
6:28
Y'all try that, and then we'll call it,
6:29
"Jamie Dean's bake," whatever.
6:31
Thanks for tuning in, y'all.
6:33
I'll see you around the kitchen.
6:38
Hey, y'all, it's Paula Deen.
