All right, five and dime
0:11
Let's do it, guys. Y'all, this is one of my favorite segments
0:15
This is Paula's five and dime. Now, that means five ingredients in under 10 minutes
0:23
How many of you girls have to go home every night and create a supper within a matter of a few minutes
0:31
A lot of y'all. How many of you guys have to do the same thing? Yes, yes
0:37
There's so many women out there that now help earn a living
0:40
But you're still expected to produce a meal, tend to the children
0:45
This is sometimes very challenging to get a meal together at a reasonable time
0:51
Well, I think y'all are gonna love this one. All right, now, Jamie has put our spaghetti noodles in our pot
0:57
and those are going to take about nine minutes. You want to tell them what our five ingredients are, son
1:02
Well, pasta's one. It's kind of, don't get fooled by this. The garlic, we call that free
1:07
because most people have garlic in their house, right? Yes, seasonings, seasonings
1:10
And I think butter is free. No, butter is not free. Butter's free
1:14
Butter is free. Good. Butter should be free. So if you guys got butter and garlic at your house
1:21
the five ingredients that you need are heavy cream. We have Parmesan cheese
1:25
We've got some frozen peas that we've thawed, and we're gonna put a lemon in here too
1:30
This is really good, because you can add, if you're doing the six and dime
1:36
six and 10, you could throw in... That would be six and 11. You could throw in some chicken
1:40
and this is a really simple dish, like for both of my boys this is something they would eat up being three and eight years old And lemon gives it a really fresh good flavor too So we love peas We love pasta We love lemon We love heavy cream A little bit of chicken and you really have a nice meal
1:55
Jamie, let me salt that water. I already did. Oh, you did? Okay, good
2:00
All right, let's make sure that's turned up as high as it'll go. And the first thing if you would do while you're down there, son, is zest the lemon
2:10
Okay. Because I'm gonna need the juice and the zest from one lemon
2:14
and it's much easier to zest before you juice it. I've used two nice fat pods of garlic
2:22
and I'm gonna put in a half a stick of butter. And my pan has gotten warm
2:30
I'm gonna put my garlic into my butter, and you want to be very careful, y'all
2:36
because garlic will burn very quickly. So you got to make sure you watch that pot good
2:43
and keep that garlic stirred because once garlic has gotten real brown
2:49
it can be kind of bitter. And you don't want it bitter. You just want that flavor from that garlic
2:56
to get in that butter and that milk. So I'm going to be pouring in a half a cup of heavy cream
3:05
maybe a little bit more, which is the way I like it. All right, we have got frozen green peas
3:14
We're going to need a cup of those in a minute. All right, my butter's melting, y'all
3:21
Jamie, you better put that lid on that pasta, son, so it can cook. I'm going to stir it so it doesn't stick
3:27
Have you ever heard people say put oil in your water where your pasta is
3:32
Yes. But I heard really don do that You don need it It just kind of wastes the oil and it makes it more greasy So if you just take a minute and remember to stir it up I don think you have to put oil in it Okay now we going to let this cook I got my eye on kind of high So we going to let that
3:46
reduce down a little bit. Son, if I could have my lemon juice, please. If you would just juice
3:53
this right over here into our heavy cream other way, baby. Okay, any way you want to do it
4:01
is what I say. Now, I'm going to put in about three-fourths a cup of Parmesan cheese
4:09
It already smells good, doesn't it, y'all? All right, salt. A little pepper
4:16
You might choose to use white pepper on this, but I'm not opposed to the little black specks at all
4:26
All right, I'm going to measure out about a cup of the frozen green peas
4:34
Whoa. Jamie, please leave the lid on our pasta. All right, we got our peas in there
4:43
We got our lemon juice. We're letting that cook down a little bit
4:50
I'm going to taste it for seasoning. Oh, my grannies. That is so good
4:57
So simple and so good. Man, that is awesome. All right, we're gonna crack that lid
5:03
so it won't bubble over. But burn, baby, burn. Two minutes? Two minutes
5:12
We got plenty of time. One minute. All right, now, one minute. Watch it, Patty
5:18
Watch it. Y let me know when we got 30 seconds left Pat I want this steamin hot because I gonna add that that pasta to it And I going to toss that pasta in this delicious lemony cream sauce
5:36
Do I have 30 seconds, Pat? It's done. Well, it's not as done
5:43
as I would like, but it's as done as it's going to get. I want this to drain real good
5:49
because I don't want that water in here. Okay. Eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one
6:06
Oki-doki. Looks beautiful. So good. And a little cheese on top
6:18
All right, now I've got to get a clean fork. Oh, you know what
6:22
Look over here. A piece of butter then fell on my pasta
6:30
I cannot believe it. Straight onto my pasta it fell. Now who loves pasta
6:38
Everybody. Everybody. Everybody. Thank you. It's so hot. And so good
6:49
Y'all, this is not the only recipe that's in my five and dime category
