Hey, y'all
0:01
Tonight on Holla's Party, all my guests are going to lay it on me. Every recipe is layered
0:06
Soap star Cameron Matheson is going to be making us a cinnamon toast
0:11
Trifle. That's what I'm talking about. And Daisy Fuentes and her sister, Rosanna, are going to be sharing their family lasagna recipes
0:18
And later, the good times continue to roll with a chocolate layer cake
0:23
So y'all don't hold back. Just lay it on me and let's party
1:00
Welcome, welcome, welcome to the party, y'all. You know, today's party is lay it on me, baby
1:15
So I'm going to lay it on y'all. You know, I don't know what to say about this young man
1:22
He's gorgeous. He is all my children's hunky Ryan Lavery. Cameron Matheson
1:30
Come on out Wow Hello Hello Hello Hello Hello Hello
1:42
That's a lot of pressure Uh oh I was looking around for a hunky guy backstage to come out here
1:48
I don't know what to tell you Well you had him with you honey Well that's very generous
1:52
Girls is he gorgeous or what Thank goodness to hair, makeup and lighting
1:58
is all I got to say. No, no, no. That's my best friends. No, no, no
2:02
I think it's, I think you're the real deal, baby. But we even match. Do you see that
2:06
I know. We do match. We weigh about the same. Stop it
2:13
Cameron. Miss, what do we got going on here? I'm going to make you, y'all, Cameron doesn't cook a lot
2:19
That's an understanding. In fact, he prepared his first meal two days ago
2:24
That's true. It was his wife's birthday. Uh-huh. and she said for her birthday
2:30
she just wanted him to cook her birthday meal. Imagine my surprise
2:36
Usually I get requests for jewelry or something fancy, and she said she just wanted me to cook her birthday dinner
2:42
Well, I'm going to teach you how to blow her away, say, like on a Sunday morning
2:48
All right. Hold on, let me go there. All right, girls. Look at this
2:53
She's a troublemaker right there, the one in black and white. Listen, I am one
2:57
I can spot them. I'm going to be showing you how to blow your wife away with a cinnamon toast trifle
3:04
She's going to be very suspicious if I show up with a cinnamon toast trifle after, like, you know what I mean
3:09
She's going to be like, where have you been, Cameron? And who's been cooking for you? Can I just tell her that, you know, because I was on your show
3:15
That's what I'll tell her. Well, listen, let me tell you why you're on my show. Because Susan Lucci was my guest
3:21
And she told me that you are her favorite hunk. Really? Yes, she did
3:29
So that's very generous of her to say that. All right. But first, I'm going to quickly tell you what we're doing
3:35
We've got a loaf of cinnamon bread that we sliced and we toasted it off
3:40
I can handle that. Now, we're just going to kind of do it like this, you know, just kind of layer it up there like that
3:46
All right. And then, after I get this stuff layered... Okay. So far, I'm doing great
3:52
You are doing perfect. Look at that. I'm going to kind of do that like that because it wouldn't fit
3:56
Nice. So it doesn't matter. It doesn't. All right. So come on over here now. And we're going to break five eggs
4:02
Got it. We've got a cup of milk. We've got a cup of whipping cream
4:07
We've got about a half a cup, three-quarters of a cup of brown sugar
4:11
And we've got vanilla. So just dump that all in the bowl. It's happening
4:15
And tell me all about your first scene with Susan Lucci, because Susan Lucci is like the queen of soap operas
4:24
Yeah, she is the queen of daytime. She's a very good friend. Her and her husband are both good friends of mine
4:28
But the very first time I worked with her, it was a little intimidating. I was new on the show
4:32
I was actually pretty much new to, you know, acting in general. Was that your first job
4:37
Well, I'd done a few other sort of smaller jobs, and then I kind of booked this, and here we go
4:43
Here, baby. Here. Anyway, the point is that I read the scene and I was really excited
4:48
Do you want me to... No, I just want you to tell me about the story. They had me do my first scene with Susan basically half naked
4:54
They had me like... You know, it's intimidating enough already working with a legend like Susan Lucci
4:59
but they had me like slowly unbuttoning my shirt as I was doing the scene
5:03
And I got to tell you, that's about as nervous as I can remember being on the show
5:07
What were you supposed to do after you got your shirt unbuttoned? I was supposed to seduce her
5:11
Oh, you were trying to seduce her. Did you do it? No, I was miserable, actually
5:18
Well. I was not very good. I got a lot of notes from the director
5:21
and it was like, I didn't know I needed that much help to seduce a woman, but I guess so
5:26
I know you were fabulous. Listen, to find out the rest of the story
5:30
y'all come right back, because I'm laying it on today, baby, with all my guests
5:36
Let this soak for one hour. Let it bake at $3.50 for one hour
5:41
Put that in the oven, honey. I'm on a minute. We'll be right back
5:46
Next, my cutie Cameron lays it on thick with a cinnamon toast
5:51
trifle. 3, 2, 1, action. And later, Daisy Fuentes brings her sister to the party
5:58
for a fabulous lasagna with just a little bit of a Spanish twist
6:13
Welcome back, everybody. I'm standing here with Cameron. He plays that hunk, Ryan Lavery. Lavery
6:24
Lavery? Yes, that's... On All My Children. He's just like the hunk of hunks
6:30
And I'm in here teaching him how to cook because he's got a beautiful wife and two children
6:35
That's right. And I want to help him out at home because I know he needs the help. I do need the help
6:39
Absolutely true. Without a doubt. So... Okay, where are we now? We have baked our French toast
6:45
Yes, we have. For one hour. Uh-huh. And we have a swap right here
6:49
Now, we've got to make a custard because this is going to be a trifle. We've got a trifle bowl, and we're going to layer it up
6:56
Yes. I've got some rum here, and I'm just going to pour this over our raisins, Cameron
7:01
I'm liking this dish more already. Yep. Mm-hmm. Great. Yeah, we're going to plump them up. Good
7:06
Plump those raisins. All right. We've got pudding. Okay. Now, you can use the refrigerator kind
7:11
Already done. You can make your own pudding or you can buy like the powder, you know, where you add the milk
7:17
All right. So we've got our pudding. We've got our whipped cream
7:21
Yes, we do. And we have got a sugar cinnamon mixture So we just going to dump all that together Okay I think that my job right I mean I can do this just throw it in there like that all of it like that Yes and fold it in Stir it up fold it in All right so tell me give me some gossip
7:35
You won't believe this, Cameron. Tell me. When Susan was on, she had a surprise for me
7:43
They have invited me on All My Children. Come on! Yes, to do it
7:47
Yes, to do it! I didn't know that. Seriously, they didn't even like telling me that backstage
7:52
Listen, I just about wet my britches Because I said this is going to be wonderful, wonderful fun
8:00
Now, can you make sure that I'm in the scene? Oh, God Can you go in there and you say, I'll only do it if I work with Ryan Lavery
8:06
I will not do it if I can't be in a love scene
8:10
That's what I'm telling you Fantastic concept Can we practice? Yes, of course
8:16
All right, show me Let me tell you what a real love scene is about Okay, teach me Everybody sees, you know, daytime soap operas
8:21
There's so much about the love scenes and the passion and the relationships and things like that. What people don't realize, and one of the reasons that my wife doesn't, like, freak out every time she sees me in a love scene
8:29
is that they're a little bit mechanical. And what happens, a little bit, because we shoot this stuff so quickly
8:34
What happens is, it's sort of similar to this. You've got multi-cameras, and you're talking, the director comes in, and he says
8:39
All right, you know, you say your first line here, camera two's on you, camera one's on you. You come in close, you put your hand behind her head, and you slide your hand down back in
8:46
and then you say the lines, and just before you kiss, you switch back, and then camera three's on you. You wrap your leg around the waist like that
8:52
And just before you kiss, you finish here and make sure the light's on three. In three, two, one, action
8:56
You're like, what? Slide, boom, slide, down, and scene. So, can I ask you, like, a personal question
9:11
I think this would be an appropriate moment for that. Yeah, go ahead. Do you ever get, like, overly excited when you're doing these things
9:20
there's a lot of concentration that goes on, sports scores and things like that
9:27
A root c. A root c is very effective. You know, let's get back to the clunking
9:37
What am I doing now? All right, I want you to take this big old spoon
9:41
and I want you to take like half of this and put it in the bottom of that bowl
9:45
I can handle that. And let me tell you something, Cameron, and you did a fine job of folding this in
9:50
Well, I don't like to brag, but, you know, very talented in the kitchen. Not so much
9:55
So is that good? And then we do a Larry, the whole thing. I want like half in there
9:59
All right. That's what you said. You know what? If I was making this at home, you know
10:03
and say you were coming over for a romantic dinner for two
10:07
I would make a lot more. You would? Yes, because I'd want it to make a huge, huge statement
10:14
Really? Even though it was just the two of us? Even though it was the two of us
10:17
Just alone on a Sunday morning after the Sunday evening. So put like half of that and spread it over
10:24
Okay. Here we go. Here we go. Laughing and a-scratching, as we say in the South
10:31
But, you know, since it is late in the evening, I can get away with telling you some kind of crazy storylines on all my children
10:38
You know, talking about, you know, some of the silliness that goes on. I want the details, honey
10:44
The craziest storyline on All My Children that I was a part of was essentially my character came from sort of a troubled childhood
10:50
and didn't want to become a father, but early in his years had donated sperm to a donation clinic
10:57
I know I can say that word. I'm awfully, like, tender, but, you know, I did it. Oh, it's all right
11:01
But my character was in love with himself, and he thought that all women should have a little piece of him. But later in life..
11:05
Large piece of him. Later in life... A very large piece. You know, he didn't want to become a father
11:12
And my wife at the time, my character's wife at the time, was really upset about that
11:16
Broke into the sperm clinic, stole some of Ryan's sperm, impregnated herself, came back, presented this information to Ryan
11:23
Ryan freaked out so much, got on his motorcycle, drove off a cliff into the ocean, faked his own death to prevent being a father
11:30
Uh-uh. So. And now he's got two kids and he's a happy father
11:35
It's just the circle of life. I sprinkled half the raisins on top of your custard
11:40
So you put the rest of the custard on. Do you realize that I did that even without you telling me
11:46
I know that. That's my instinct that I'm gathering here. You're good, honey
11:50
All right, and then we're going to sprinkle. A little bit more raisins. What about this? A little bit more raisins
11:54
This is important. If this is going to be just you and me on a romantic evening, it looks like whipped cream to me
11:59
It is whipped cream. That's what I'm talking about. But you know what? Let's dip us up some, Cameron
12:05
Yes, okay. Onto our plate, and then we'll top it with that. Is that a good idea
12:09
Oh, I see what you're saying. Okay, good. You know what? We don't need two plates, do we
12:13
No, we should share. I want to share. Okay, I'll let you serve
12:20
That looks really good. Dan, look at that. That looks tasty. Yes, that looks so tasty
12:26
I'm glad I went to the gym this morning. You went to the gym? I did. I did. I thought maybe, you know, I wanted to make sure I had the pump on before I came on to your show
12:34
The pump on. What does that mean? I don't really know. All right, look at you
12:40
That looks fantastic. Listen, you're going to blow the missus away, honey
12:44
I know. You know what? She's going to be very suspicious of how talented I am in the kitchen
12:48
Here we go. Okay. One, two, three. You serve me and I'll serve you. Okay
12:53
Oh, I love it. Ready? To Cameron. To Carmen. And all my cheerings
13:05
Give me a kiss. Y'all don't go anywhere here at Paula's party
13:16
We're laying it on, baby. And you'll want to be here for the rest of the party
13:21
Thanks, guys. All right. Thank you. Next, layers of Spanish lasagna with the gorgeous Guentez sisters
13:30
and later over-the-top chocolate layer kegs. Welcome back, everybody
13:48
Today's party theme is laying it on, y'all. Everything that we're preparing today is done in layers
13:56
And our next guest tonight, y'all, is so beautiful. She's a model
14:03
She's a TV host. And she even designs her own line of clothing, jewelry
14:09
What can I say? Daisy Fuentes. Come on out, buddy. Hello, gorgeous
14:21
Show everybody. Show everybody. You have gorgeous. How gorgeous is this woman
14:31
You are beautiful. You are just so beautiful. I love you. I love that
14:38
I love your shoes. I love all your Oh, look, we match. I love your..
14:42
Yes, we do, almost. We are the fashionistas. We're the fashionistas who cook
14:47
Yes, yes, yes. It's great to have you back. Daisy has been to one of my parties before, and we had such a good time
14:54
Loved it Then I said Daisy please come back because this girl is not only beautiful and talented she cooks guys She really cooks That true
15:05
And I understand that cooking runs in the family. That's right. You brought your sister
15:11
I brought my sister. And let me tell you something. My sister, every show, and I've gone on a lot of really cool shows, done a lot of cool things
15:16
She's never been interested in anything. When I told her I came on the Paula Deen show, she was, oh, my gosh, I've got to go
15:22
So I brought her. So thank you for inviting her. Please. Come on out, Rosanna. Rosanna
15:30
Hello. Hello. My goodness. I love you back. Isn't she cute
15:39
I'm telling you, beauty runs in this family. Well, you are absolutely gorgeous
15:44
Well, honey, thank you. Mine's makeup. Oh. If you could see me first thing in the morning, you'd say, oh
15:52
Poor thing. Stop it. Well, we made up a special recipe for you today
15:57
I know. We heard about the layered thing. We got in the kitchen. It's all about layers, y'all. Yes. Every dish we're preparing today has been layered
16:03
So you girls lay it on me, okay? We made up a good one. I'm going to stand back and let y'all have it
16:09
All right. Well, we have made a version. Well, we're calling it what? The Fuentes Family Lasagna
16:13
I don't know. We're still working on the title. But it is darn good. I was going to say I bet we could call it good stuff
16:19
It's good stuff. Yeah, it's really good stuff. Well, I'm going to stand back and y'all go to it. Okay
16:23
All right. Well, we're going to start with some bread that we've kind of crumbled up in here
16:27
and we're going to put some milk into it and just really let it soak up. Soak it up
16:31
Soak it up. Blomp it up. Just let that soak for a while. Okay. Who's the better cook of the two of you
16:36
I'd have to say maybe I am. Oh, she's so, so not
16:40
Oh, I love it already. A cat fight. So not. Wait, wait
16:44
See, she doesn't even know what she's doing. No, we put this in there. No, no, you do not
16:48
Yes, we do. You have to. I love it. You see? You have to squeeze the milk
16:54
Oh, oh, you're right. You're right. You're right. She is right. I told you
16:58
I was going to do that. But meantime, we're going to mix within the meat patty here
17:06
What kind of meat, Rosanna? This is ground, just ground beef. It looks like an extra lean
17:12
Yeah, it's extra lean. And we're going to mix it with chorizo to make it not lean. Mix it with what
17:17
Chorizo. Chorizo is a Spanish sausage. Chorizo. Chorizo. Y'all say it with an accent
17:24
Chorizo. Chorizo. All right. Now, I understand y'all actually go on vacation together
17:31
We do. We make it a point to get either a house or an apartment with a big kitchen because that's where we practice all this stuff
17:36
Okay, it's ready, right? Listen, that's right. Did you squeeze all the milk out real good? Yeah, I squeezed it
17:40
Okay, so we're going to go ahead and put that in here. Okay. What
17:49
Okay, so we have mixed. Pull her hair. Wouldn't be the first time, Paula
17:55
Definitely not. So who's the oldest? She is. Oh, my God. Do you need to ask that question
18:04
You're just being nice to her, aren't you? She's just a little bit younger than me
18:08
Okay, so we are mixing the ground beef with chorizo with the breadcrumbs
18:13
Parmesan cheese. That's the breadcrumbs. That's the parm. This is the parm
18:18
Should I start? Yeah, you can start mushing. Parsley. Marjorie. The young sister, Boston
18:26
And garlic. The big sister. That's nothing new, Paula. Did y'all get along as children
18:31
Oh. Tell me. Well, there was... Give me the dirt. There were two different eras there
18:37
Before she moved out of the house, she was downright evil. Evil
18:42
And then once she moved out, we got along great. We became great friends after that
18:47
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, doesn't it? I guess so. Oh, she was a little pain in the you-know-what
18:52
She was just... Who was the sweetest? She was pretty sweet, but only because she was a master manipulator
18:58
so she would be sweet to get what she wants. I'll give you an example. My parents thought she was an angel, but one night in the middle of the night
19:04
she had a friend sleeping over. Yeah, uh-huh. My friend's here, by the way
19:08
Oh, the accomplice is here. Right there. Oh, my goodness. I already spotted the troublemakers earlier
19:15
So, wait. So, they snuck out the window, got into my car. They were only like 14 and went for a joyride
19:21
And they ripped my mirror, my side mirror off. The drama. I mean, who doesn't do that
19:27
Oh, nobody does that. Everybody takes a car for a joyride every now and then
19:31
Anyway, I only found out a couple of years ago. But that's just an example of her little sneakiness
19:36
Y'all don't go anywhere because I want to find out where Rosanna went when she stole her sister's car
19:43
Good question. And once they did, don't go anywhere because we're laying it on face tonight
19:49
with the Fuentes sisters. Next, finishing up the Fuentes family lasagna. And later, it's a chocolate layer cake
19:59
with a cheesecake center. Welcome back, y'all
20:15
I'm up here with two hottie sisters. they're kind of cat fighting
20:24
Nothing new. But they're making us their family lasagna. We're taking the little meat patties and putting them into the marinara sauce
20:32
And that'll be your meat sauce layer. So the two sisters, y'all, Daisy and Rosanna, they love to cook together
20:41
What is y'all's nationality? I was born in Cuba and my sister was born in Spain
20:47
Oh, my goodness. And so y'all are just like different heritages. We're the United Nations
20:53
But you know, both of those heritages really like to cook. Yeah, we love it
20:58
Food is important to y'all, isn't it? Okay, so now I've taken the eggplants out of the oven
21:05
Adore eggplant. It's been salted. A little salt and pepper on each side
21:09
A little drizzle of olive oil. And we're going to use this instead of the lasagna noodles
21:14
Oh, my goodness. We're going to use this as the layering. So this makes it, like, less fattening
21:18
Yeah. Oh, yeah. It's healthy. We got rid of the pasta, but replaced it with the chorizo
21:22
With chorizo. You know what? That's a protein, and I bet it has no carbs
21:26
So it is a carb-free, you know. Sounds great. Can I clean up anything for you girls
21:33
You don't clean up. Paula, don't you have people for that? Oh, no, I'll clean up. I'll get things out of y'all's way
21:39
I'm just here to make you girls happy. I think we're ready to begin the layering
21:42
Should we do layering over here? Yeah, let's bring everything over. Yeah, because it looks like, what is this
21:47
Those are pine nuts. And that's going to be going right in between the layers just to give it a little bit of texture
21:52
Ooh, I love crunching. And this is just a classic bechamel sauce
21:55
And you start with a stick of butter, some flour, and three cups of milk
21:59
And just stir it around until it gets nice and thick. Looks delicious
22:04
Yeah, huh? We can put a little bit more just to coat the whole bottom there
22:09
Keep her straight, Rosanna. She doesn't know what she's doing. said her sister
22:14
She's been on TV for five minutes. I'm doing pretty good, though
22:18
Yeah, you are. So when is the next family vacation? Hopefully soon
22:23
We're thinking for your birthday. Are your children good when y go on vacation They are great They love it They love it They are little world travelers Because of her she has completely spoiled them Completely spoiled them
22:35
I like to spoil them. So now I'm layering the eggplant. We're going to start with this, right
22:40
Yep. Just layer that on there. Daisy, your jewelry's just beautiful. Thank you
22:44
I know you're a jewelry girl. I like it. And Paula, if you want to help us, the next layer is going to be just to put some of the
22:52
meat patties right over the eggplant. Okay. Just with a little bit of sauce
22:57
I can do this. Oh my goodness. Looks delicious. And then we're going to
23:06
add right over this. That is very, very good. Sprinkle some pine nuts. Toasted pine nuts
23:14
Toasted pine nuts. Yes. I wish I had a spoon instead of a ladle
23:19
I think I'll just swap, girls. Y'all hold on. Is your sister a good auntie
23:25
Is Daisy good? Oh, she is great. She's a fabulous, fabulous aunt. So does she spoil them like they're unbearable when you do that? Yes
23:33
You know, everything I try to teach them throughout every day of their lives
23:37
within five minutes she will come and un-teach them. You know, that's the grand part, though, Rosanna, about being an auntie
23:46
Yeah, it is. Or a grandmother. We need it for another layer. Yeah, that's true
23:50
Oh, I'm sorry. I should stop. I'll take some back. Yeah. Good idea
23:56
That's good. Why didn't y'all tell me y'all were stingy with them? That's good
23:59
That's good. We're good. That's good. We can just spread this one out here. This is delicious
24:04
Isn't that nice? Good, huh? Did y'all make this sauce? You can either get store-bought or make it yourself
24:09
Or make it. Because it is quite, there's a lot to do in this recipe. This is delicious. It's so good
24:13
Isn't that good? I mean, it's really, really good. We've added, that's right. We've added the chorizo to the meat. If I could store-buy that, I would buy it
24:18
No, the chorizo really gives it that really rich flavor. That's what it is. It simmers in the sauce and all the flavor
24:23
Okay, so what's the next layer on this? Okay, so the next layer, we added the pine nuts
24:27
We can add some manchego. Actually, that's for the top. Some who? Manchego. Manchego cheese
24:31
Spanish cheese. Manchego. We replaced the mozzarella with manchego to make it a little bit more Spanish
24:36
It's delicious. Have you tasted that? Ooh. It's so good. Smells like my husband's dirty sauce. Oh
24:43
So we've added the pine nuts, added the manchego cheese, and now we are ready to add another layer of the eggplant
24:53
So you're going to make like three layers, girls? Well, yeah, I don't think we have enough
24:57
Or two and a half? Maybe this might be the top layer. This is just going to be delicious
25:02
Oh, yeah, you're going to make it? It's kind of like a lasagna. Do we put more bechamel
25:06
Not yet. That's how we're going to layer everything. So I want to find out, how many friends did you have with you
25:11
It was just my one friend, Maria, who, from my childhood friend since we were nine years old
25:19
All right. And she's one of those. She's the one in the middle there, yes
25:23
So where'd you go? And we just did an innocent little joyride around town
25:28
I hear you. It was completely innocent. But what happened was, there were two cars double parked
25:34
And I couldn't really gauge, you know, I'm not having my license and all
25:38
I couldn't really gauge the distance between the cars yet. And the side mirror got a little side swept and kind of fell off
25:46
Knocked off completely. Well, did you fess up? Well, no. A couple of years ago, I did. Yeah
25:52
Oh, my goodness. So all these years, she thinks just somebody walked by and hit the mirror
25:57
Well, it was a big mystery because the way she had her car, I had to park the car exactly the way she had it
26:02
That's right. Except the mirror was on the inside. Right. The mirror that got knocked off happened to be on the sidewalk side
26:08
So it was a mystery for years. Like, how did that happen overnight? Somebody just came by and knocked the mirror off
26:15
You know, somebody walking down the street just being mean. Exactly, exactly
26:19
So now we would put the whole top layer. All right, how about this? That goes on the very top. That goes way on the top
26:24
I keep trying to interfere with Del's recipe. But this is going to be delicious because you've got, like, the richness of the meat patties
26:31
You've got the vegetables. And then you've got that crunchy from the pine nuts that really gives it that little bite when you're going in
26:37
Yeah. So now we're just going to pour this right over the top. Daisy, how's your show
26:42
How's your show, Ultimate Style? Ultimate Style, it's going great. We're having a great time with it
26:46
Wonderful. Well, listen, Rosanna, now we've got to get Rosanna, Rosanna Dana
26:51
We've got to top it off with us. Look how much you were leaving in the pot, girlfriend
26:56
That is good stuff. You can't leave that in the pot. No. Just pour that on
27:01
That's like gold. This is like gold. I mean, I love this. Yeah
27:05
So then we put more of the Montego cheese. And now we can add the chorizo on top
27:10
Okay, here we go. Because you know what? Because less is just less
27:13
That is great. Because less is just less. You know what? I like them pine nuts
27:17
Yes, the pine nuts are great times. Yes. Don't let anything go to waste
27:26
All right, listen, y'all got me nervous. I skimped on the bowl, so I'm throwing the rest of those in
27:32
Can't waste those either. No, can't waste. Wait a minute, Paula. You sure you don't want to save those and fry them up or something
27:37
All right, so girls, how long? Put it in the oven. For about 20, 25 minutes
27:43
You put it on the broiler. Because everything's already, everything's, yeah, you just basically refit it. Basically on the broiler we put it
27:47
We put it in the broiler, yes. Low broiler. You put it under the broiler. Yeah, on the medium, not too high, not too high up
27:53
So you'd probably want to put it down kind of low. Yeah. Because that broiler, that's serious business
27:58
Yeah, but you don't need to rebake it because it's already cooked. All right, so you want me to get that for you
28:02
We have one ready. Yes, my angel. It's a bit heavy. You're probably in better shape than me
28:09
Look at this. It looks nice. Does that look wonderful or what
28:14
I know. Oh, let's dip some up. There's our plates over there, girls
28:19
Oh, okay. Put it to the taste test. I wish y'all would invite me on vacation
28:26
We will. Look at this. You got it there. Oh, this looks fabulous
28:32
Doesn't it? Is y'all's mother a good cook? She does like to cook
28:36
She used to like to cook a lot more. My dad has kind of taken over the cooking. Oh, he has. He kind of switched roles
28:41
How about, did y'all have a grandmother that was just awesome in the kitchen
28:46
We've got the Spanish grandmother who does a lot of Spanish dishes
28:49
and then we've got the Cuban grandmother who does the Cuban dishes. So we learn a little bit from both
28:53
My husband loves Cuban cooking. Oh, thank you. Give that a taste
28:59
To the sisters, y'all, to the sisters. Hope you like it. Is it just, like, delicious
29:06
You guys, this is so good. It's rich and creamy. Oh. Right
29:16
Yes. Fabulous. It's yummy, huh? It's fabulous. Y'all don't go anywhere because we're laying it on, baby
29:28
So come back. I've got another great guest for y'all. Next, an over-the-top chocolate layer cake
29:37
with a cheesecake inside, y'all. Welcome back, y'all
29:54
Is everybody having fun at the party? Oh! I'm so glad, I'm so glad that y'all could come, and I'm so glad that y'all could tune in out there in TV land
30:07
You know, tonight's show is all about laying it on. And my girlfriend that's fixing to come out, I just had to have her for this show
30:19
because she is going to lay it on, y'all. She is one of my seven sisters
30:24
She was a finalist on The View's Funniest Housewives a year or so ago
30:29
She is my girlfriend, Leanne Morgan. Come on out, Leanne. Leanne Morgan, everybody
30:56
Thank you. Thank you for having me. Oh, honey, listen to this girl
31:01
I don't have an accent compared to her. Oh, gosh. Oh, gosh
31:07
Pasha. Pasha. Look, they're looking like, what in the world? We need an interpreter
31:14
Between the two of us, say May. May, May. You know what I'm going to fix for you
31:19
I'm going to fix for you a chocolate layer cake. And then the center layer is going to be a cheesecake
31:26
All right. Now, I'm going to give you the job, Leanne, of just beating, because I want you to talk to all of our friends
31:35
This girl is a comedian, y'all. And she, like me, we have a lot in common
31:41
You started later. You had already had your children. Yes. I was not a size 2
31:47
We've talked about that. We were neither size 2s. I want to say I hope that Daisy was not too intimidated
31:53
to come out here before me and my figure. But she's back in the back, back there doing Pilates right now
32:03
No, I started late. I was out. Start beating, baby. Beating with this thing
32:09
Uh-huh. Beat with that thing. All righty. All right. All right. Now, we've got two eight-ounce packages of cream cheese that we've already beat y'all until it was creamy
32:17
Okay. I'm going to add a half a cup of sugar. Okay. and I'm going to add three eggs, one at a time
32:26
All right, now tell everybody, this story is so interesting, y'all, because Leanne was married with three children
32:34
And my husband had his own business and we needed money. And I had had my first baby and I wanted to stay home with him
32:41
because I'm in love with him. And to this day, he's 14 and I want to live with he and his wife
32:47
and their little children. and I wanted to be home with him and so I started selling
32:53
jewelry in people houses You know like women get out and schlep Those jewelry parties Tupperware and things like that I was getting out and selling jewelry and I was supposed to be talking about jewelry and putting an earring on a pump and changing the look of your shoe
33:06
but instead I was talking about breastfeeding and hemorrhoids and how I could kill my husband
33:11
because he wouldn't wake up with the baby in the night. And people thought it was funny
33:16
These women thought it was so funny, and they started asking me to speak at their national things
33:20
and people would say to me, you need to be a stand-up comedian. And so I got started in comedy that way
33:26
And I toured all over the United States. Isn't that wild? It's wild
33:30
It's on The View? Yes, on The View. And Nick and I's funniest mom
33:37
I know. It's been a blessing and a wonderful ride. I'm telling you
33:41
All right. Now, how is your husband taking all this, Leanne? If I make money at it, he doesn't care
33:48
And do you cook for him like this at home? I do
33:51
I do. I was raised in the South and Middle Tennessee, and I've cooked almost every night
33:57
What am I adding? What is that? That's not vanilla. It's almond liqueur
34:04
That's for Hoopty-Doo people. That's Hoopty-Doo people. Hoopty-Doo people. It's going to give it an incredible flavor
34:11
Oh, good. All right, so what are you doing now? I mean, what's going on with you
34:16
It's been a couple of months since I've seen you. I know. Well, you know, we are..
34:20
That looks delicious. Um, working on a sitcom. I wanted to ask you about that, but I didn't know
34:27
Well, it's a family sitcom, which is what we need on television
34:31
Don't y'all think we need it? You know, you are so right
34:36
You know, am I the only one, am I the only human in America that's tired of reality shows
34:44
But this show, you know, where they eat lizards and roaches. And this is going to be so much better than a lizard, y'all
34:51
this recipe is to die for. So we're going to put this in the oven, y'all
34:57
Like I said, we greased our tinfoil so this will come out easily. And Leanne, we're going to bake this at 300 degrees for about 45 minutes
35:05
and then we're going to cut off the oven and let it continue to bake for one hour
35:10
So don't go anywhere. I'm here with Leanne Morgan, and she is laying it on thick, honey
35:16
See you back in a minute. Next, we're finishing up our chocolate layer cake
35:38
Y'all, tonight's party is Lay It On Me. It's all about layered recipes
35:45
And I'm here with my friend Leanne Morgan, this brilliant, funny southern woman
35:51
And I want to finish making this cake for you. Okay. We going to make now Leanne our chocolate layers And we just using a box cake mix which makes everything so easy We going to add water We going to add some oil
36:08
Okay. And we're going to add some more of that wonderful almond liqueur
36:13
Mmm. And it's just going to give this cake a wonderful flavor
36:18
It's amazing what you can do with a box mix, you know, if you, like, really give it some punch
36:24
and we've got just three eggs that we've slightly beaten up. All right, so I'm going to beat these, and I want you to talk to me now
36:33
You've got three children. You've got a husband. Do you cook for your husband like this
36:38
Yeah, I do, and I try to use butter and eggs and lard
36:43
because he's got really good life insurance. So if anything happens, you're all sick
36:52
I'm all right. I'm going to be all right. And he's a happy man. He is
36:56
All right. Now, we're going to put this into two layers. But the thing is about Leanne is she is good, clean, funny
37:09
Thank you. She's good, clean, funny. Well, because I don't want my children to hear something that I wouldn't want them to hear
37:16
And so, because I've got very clean little children. I shelter my little children
37:21
My son is a banjo player, banjo and mandolin player, and listens to gospel bluegrass
37:28
14 years old. Isn't that amazing? He's like an old man in a little boy's body
37:32
I know. And people think that's so funny, and I do too
37:36
because I think, what are 14-year-olds listening to? They're rapping and all that, and I think
37:41
wouldn't it be funny if I had to yell at my boy, turn that gospel bluegrass down
37:46
You're out of control. If I hear I saw the light one more time
37:54
That's how unique it is. That's good problems to have. I know, I know
38:00
All right, now, Leanne, on the chocolate layers, we're going to bake that for 20 minutes in a 350-degree oven
38:08
We're going to take them out and let them cool. My cheesecake, I have pulled out, and we have let that cool
38:15
Now it's time to assemble this wonderful, delicious dessert. All right, now I've got over here my cream, chocolate cream cheese icing
38:29
Y'all, it's so easy to make. It's just like confectionate sugar, like six cups
38:35
And butter. You are like a hypnotist. I'm just sitting glued to you
38:42
You're talking about butter and cream cheese, and I am just mesmerized
38:46
Well, I tell you what, it's just all those ingredients that I love. So we have put our first chocolate layer down, and we put a layer of icing in it
38:56
And then we got our cream cheese So now it time to ice the next layer So are you on the road Leanne
39:07
A little bit. A little bit. I toured for a long time. Where can we find you
39:11
You can go to leannmorgan.com, and I have shows all over the United States
39:16
When kids don't have a book report due, it's when I can do a show. But it works out good
39:22
My husband takes care of them or my mom and daddy or his mom and daddy. Oh, that's great
39:27
I always have help. I live in the same town. Well, close, close by
39:31
Oh, that's great. Leanne, they just told me, honey, that we got 30 seconds to ice this cake in
39:37
Oh, shoot. Yeah. You know, I'm fast, but I don't think I'm this fast
39:43
So you know what? I'm going to just move that right over yonder. and
39:51
in Paula world we always have back up. So look at that
39:59
Oh, I could eat that whole thing. Is it not beautiful? I could too. Alright, so we've got some
40:03
slivered almonds and what we're gonna do is just no we're not because
40:08
that was a bad idea. Because this swap out was iced. quite a little while ago
40:22
So I don't think... I don't think I'm going to be able to get them to stick
40:30
So I don't think we're going to have any luck. But you know what? It's going to be just fine
40:36
Let's cut us a piece. Let's dig in, sister. Okay. It doesn't bother me any
40:42
Here we go, Dan. We got some stripper music or something. Yeah
41:03
All right, since them nuts didn't stick. Okay. On the sides, we'll do it that way
41:10
Okay. to Leanne Morgan and her fabulous career. Thank you, Angel
41:21
I love you, baby girl. Y'all join us next week for the party
41:25
because we always have a great time and we always send you loving best dishes out there
41:31
See you at the next party, y'all. Thank you for coming. Thank you
41:36
Thank you, Daisy. Thank you, Rosanna. Thank you, Cameron. And most of all, thank y'all
41:43
So good. That is good. You would think of me hard as well
