You know what I love? I love saving. I love saving things. I love saving time. I love saving money
0:09
and I like not wasting things. One of my favorite vegetables is broccoli, and a lot of people make
0:15
the mistake of wasting a big portion of the broccoli. Sometimes when you buy broccoli
0:21
it's like mostly stalk, and you've got the tiny little crowns up top, but you don't have to
0:26
do what most people do, which is cut the stalk off and throw it in the trash. There's a couple
0:32
of reasons why not to do that. Number one, this is the nutrient super highway of this super
0:38
vegetable. So you want to eat it. You don't want to waste it. And there are a couple of different
0:42
things that you can do with it. I'm sure that you're thinking broccoli slaw, which is true
0:48
It's very common. And then here's another really neat thing that you can do with it. Cut it into
0:54
matchstick sizes and shapes, really thin little pieces like this. And then what I've got is a
1:00
little olive oil going in my pan. I'm going to cut up a clove of garlic, toss my matchsticks into
1:08
the oil. I'm going to saute these bad boys up with a little garlic and a salt and pepper
1:13
and these are a tasty little snack or side dish to any of your poultry or beef
1:25
So not only is this a great way to not waste your broccoli stalks, it's a good way to get fiber in
1:31
your diet. It's an unexpected little snack or a treat that your guests will like. This is another
1:35
tip to you from us at the Paula Deen Network. you
