So we all know it's the holidays
0:07
and I know that y'all are doing more baking this time of year than you normally would
0:12
And you know I'm always surprised when I have people coming into my kitchen
0:17
and we're cooking together. I didn't realize that a lot of people
0:21
don't know the proper way to measure. And we all know that bacon is a formula
0:27
and that has to be precise. So I'm going to share with y'all the proper way to measure your ingredients
0:36
because that will determine whether your baking is going to be successful or be a failure
0:43
Now when you're measuring your dry ingredients, I like using my scoops rather than this
0:51
This type of measuring cup is for liquids and this is for dry
0:56
Now when you are measuring out your flour, you want to get in there, get a heaping cup full
1:04
and then just kind of tap it down with the flat side of your knife, and then level it with that side
1:12
I have seen people that come in here and take the curved side
1:17
and of course if you use the curved side of that knife, it's going to dip in and you don't really have a cup
1:24
So always use the flat side of the blade to measure your flour And the same thing applies to your sugar You have a perfect cup of sugar Now when you measuring your liquids you want to make sure that
1:44
you've got a good bird's-eye view horizontally because if you stand up
1:51
you're gonna get a different measurement. So that cup needs to be sitting up and
1:59
where you can see this angle. You have to look at it from this view
2:06
And from this view, I see that we have a perfect one-cup measurement
2:13
Now, when we're measuring our sticky products like syrups and things like that or molasses
2:19
you want to always spray your measuring cup so that every drop of this syrup that you have measured
2:34
every drop will come out, rendering you that full cup. Otherwise, it's going to stick in here
2:41
and when you pour this in, it's not going to equal a full cup
2:46
So I hope these few tips just take you to the most incredible cakes
2:53
and cookies and pies that your family has ever eaten. Best dishes, y'all
