Y'all know with a three-year-old at the house
0:06
I spend a great deal of my time doing a how-to. How to lift up the toilet seat, how to flush the toilet
0:13
how to turn off the lights, how to shut the doors, how to not tackle the dog
0:17
So I love doing this series of how-to. This is for the newer cooks and maybe some seasoned cooks
0:21
that have never done something like today it's a poached egg. It's going to be a how-to
0:26
but I've got some really interesting tips in here too. I've got some water. Now, it's important that it's at a simmer and not a boil
0:32
We want to cook this egg at a medium time, not a super fast time
0:35
And I've added one tablespoon of vinegar to my water. That kind of helps set everything up
0:41
I've got two eggs that are already done, so I'm going to show y'all how to poach an egg
0:46
Take a slotted spoon. I've got my simmering water. I'm going to get a vortex going
0:52
This is like swirly, swirly, swirly, swirly, swirly. This is when being amphibious helps me
0:59
I can use both hands. Egg goes in the center of the swirl
1:06
It's really the center that people are going to want to eat. Here's the cool tip
1:13
If you're making it for more than one or two people, I've taken my eggs that I've already done
1:18
and I've put them in an ice bath. Now I just take these, and I put them back down into the warm water
1:24
let this sit for just a few minutes, And voila, we've got poached eggs and everybody gets a warm egg
1:34
I love Eggs Benedict and I love sharing how-to's with y'all. Today, how to poach an egg
