- Well, happy New Year's, y'all!
0:01
The holidays thankfully are wrap
0:04
I'm ready to get started with a brand new year,
0:06
and the end of the year is a gre
0:08
to get a brand new drink.
0:10
I'm back with my man, T. Mox,
0:11
who's gonna help us out with what we're doing today
0:13
is a smoky old fashioned,
0:18
- All right, so this is another of our couple favorites.
0:21
So we're gonna use our Ole Smoky peach whiskey.
0:25
It's gonna give it a really good
0:28
We want this drink to definitely taste the bourbon,
0:31
we definitely wanna taste the whiskey in an old fashioned,
0:33
but we want it to be something
0:35
that everybody wants to come in here and drink,
0:37
so this is gonna be very peachy.
0:38
It's gonna be a good, sweet drink for everybody.
0:41
So first thing we're gonna do
0:42
is take one of our brown sugar c
0:46
You can also make this with just regular brown sugar.
0:49
So a little bit more than a teas
0:53
It's just enough of that sweetness to cut that liquor.
0:56
- Yeah, Mama would put two of those in there.
0:58
And did you know that Georgia is the Peach State?
1:01
- An appropriate whiskey for us
1:03
- All right, and we have our peach bitters.
1:05
You don't have to use peach,
1:07
you can just use regular bitters
1:08
but we want that peachy flavor,
1:10
so all of our guests enjoy it.
1:12
So we're just gonna do a couple dashes of that.
1:15
And take just a little bit of wa
1:18
You don't want anything too cold
1:19
but you want something to help dissolve the sugar.
1:21
- [Jamie] That's a lot of sugar.
1:24
- [Jamie] So this is a really sw
1:25
- It is. - I haven't had
1:26
an old fashioned before.
1:28
- So what do you know about old fashioneds?
1:29
Is it an old school kind of drin
1:31
Is it what the old guys used to
1:32
like, in the '40s and '50s?
1:34
Was this like yesteryear's cosmopolitan or something?
1:39
- Yes, it is actually. - Yeah, and it's always made
1:41
with whiskey? - And it's made
1:43
It's always been made with bourb
1:45
and it's made a huge resurgence
1:46
in the last few years. - So it's sweet bourbon?
1:49
A Manhattan's usually served up,
1:52
but this whole fashioned,
1:54
we're gonna serve it with just a little bit of ice.
1:56
So we have that good and dissolv
1:58
It doesn't have to be perfect,
1:59
we want just a little bit of graininess in there
2:02
to give it some character.
2:03
We're gonna fill our glass with just a little bit of ice,
2:10
and then we got two cherries,
2:12
just because you gotta have a li
2:14
of that good color in that drink
2:17
- [Jamie] Yeah, just like food, color and texture.
2:20
- So we're gonna take two ounces of our peach whiskey,
2:27
pour us just a little bit fun.
2:30
All right, so we're gonna smoke
2:33
just to give it some character and some wow.
2:36
If you wanna do it just like thi
2:37
you're more than welcome to.
2:39
Wanna stir it until it's good an
2:41
it doesn't have to be super-dupe
2:45
All right, got a nice little smo
2:48
Theresa got us going with this.
2:53
You can buy these on Amazon, buy one at home,
2:55
they have smaller versions,
2:57
but we want something
2:58
that's definitely gonna wow our
3:00
- [Camera Person] This is another big trend
3:01
that people are smoking their bourbon drinks.
3:04
- [Troy] So we just took one of our coasters we have
3:07
for sale in our retail store.
3:09
Of course, cheers, y'all
3:15
- [Camera Person] Look how prett
3:17
- [Jamie] Wow. Isn't that cool?
3:19
- [Troy] So when we bring it out to our guests,
3:21
we're gonna pull that right off
3:25
- [Camera Person] Oh, that's coo
3:27
So what does the smoke do?
3:29
It adds the wood-chippy flavor-
3:31
- Well, your bourbon's- - To the bourbon?
3:32
- Already gonna have a little bi
3:34
but it's just gonna enhance it a
3:38
It really just looks cool.
3:39
- Yeah, it really does look cool
3:41
I love how it's holding in there
3:43
- As soon as you get in there and take a good whiff,
3:46
I would definitely suggest let it sit for a minute,
3:49
but if you want to just either try it with a straw
3:52
or take it straight to the head,
3:54
it's up to you. - And you had some peaches,
3:55
didn't you have some peaches to-
3:58
You can also add peaches.
3:59
We did some frozen ones,
4:01
just to give it a little bit more of that peach flavor
4:04
and also not water them down as
4:08
You can really substitute the ice completely
4:10
with frozen peaches if that's what you really wanna do,
4:12
but it's gonna make it so much m
4:15
- Well, I'm here to take one for
4:17
so this will be my last drink of this year.
4:22
- [Camera Person] Yeah.
4:31
- Call me old fashioned, but I l
