0:00
- Good morning, y'all.
0:04
It's Christmas morning,
0:05
and I hope that I am one of the first
0:09
to wish you a merry, merry Christmas.
0:13
I can't believe the Christmas season has moved so fast.
0:19
We made, in case you didn't catch it,
0:21
we made the 12 days of Christmas cookies.
0:26
And if you missed any, you gotta check 'em out
0:29
because one is so good.
0:32
Our accountant for the Lady and Sons was just out here,
0:37
and he said, "I've been watching all of your cookies,
0:40
the 12 Days of Christmas cookies."
0:43
And he said, "I'm gonna start baking."
0:48
And he said, "That preacher's cookie
0:51
really caught my interest."
0:54
I said, "Oh my gosh, yes."
0:57
A viewer sent that in to us,
1:00
and I loved it, y'all.
1:03
She said, "You can make these
1:04
from the time the preacher gets out of his car
1:08
till he rings your doorbell coming for some fried chicken."
1:14
And it tasted like fudge to me.
1:16
Did you like those, Eddie?
1:20
- I just thought they-
1:21
- [Eddie] The twist was adding coconut.
1:24
I just thought they were so yummy.
1:27
In fact, hearing Carl talk about that,
1:28
that makes me wanna make another batch.
1:30
But I appreciate all of y'all.
1:33
I think we selected 10 recipes
1:36
from what we sat down, two of the recipes were from me.
1:42
But if you didn't catch those, try to catch it
1:47
because it is really, really,
1:50
some good cookie recipes that they see.
1:52
- [Eddie] And there was Aunt Ann's Walnut Cookie.
1:59
It was delicious, Eddie.
2:02
And the name was Aunt Ann's Walnut Cookies.
2:07
Did that one have a glaze kind of on top?
2:11
- [Eddie] Brown butter.
2:12
- Yes, yes, yes, okay.
2:15
That's what I thought I was remembering
2:17
because I think we made two cookies
2:19
that had like a glazed topping, right?
2:24
- But yes, that is definitely
2:26
high up there on the list to make.
2:31
Now we're getting ready for New Year's.
2:36
And you know, it's funny, I don't make resolutions.
2:45
because I feel that I'm setting myself up for failure.
2:50
Because when I don't meet up to my resolution,
2:54
that's exactly what I feel like.
2:55
I feel like a failure.
2:57
So this is what I do.
3:01
I'm gonna try to do so and so better.
3:07
So if I don't do it, you know, I'm still a good person.
3:12
Just because I eat some candy that I wasn't supposed to.
3:16
But that's just the way I feel about it.
3:18
I don't want to set myself up for failure mentally
3:23
'cause that can get you down.
3:25
I hope though, that every one of y'all
3:27
are in a wonderful place this morning.
3:31
I hope that you have peace, and contentment,
3:33
and joy in your life.
3:36
And I hope you're surrounded with family and friends.
3:42
I can't believe that this will be the fourth
3:46
or the fifth Christmas without my bubba.
3:50
Hard to believe, isn't it, Eddie?
3:54
- He passed away in 2019, so four years.
3:57
This is four Christmases without him.
3:59
And he was always so much fun to be with at Christmas time.
4:06
(Paula laughs) He had a good sense of humor.
4:10
So now's the time that we can reflect back on the year
4:17
and maybe people that we are missing in our life.
4:23
But we cannot forget to enjoy the ones that are with us,
4:31
and just love 'em to pieces,
4:34
and share with them the love that's in your heart.
4:40
I hope, I hope it's gonna be a marvelous day.
4:44
I hope you're surrounded by children, and grandchildren,
4:46
and grandparents, aunts, and uncles, and friends.
4:50
And I want to be the first one to say this morning
4:54
that I'm sending you love, much love,
4:57
and many, many best wishes.
5:01
Have a wonderful day, y'all.
