- Hey y'all.
0:01
As promised,
0:02
Eddie and I are gonna show y'all
0:04
how we have done Christmas around here.
0:08
And if you'll remember,
0:10
I did a video with a couple of guys that own
0:13
Get Lit
0:15
Jax,
0:16
and the Jax is for Jacksonville.
0:18
And these guys go all over
0:20
doing lighting up people's Christmas lights.
0:24
So the colored lights,
0:26
Mike did those right Eddie?
0:28
- [Eddie] Yeah, yeah, he did the fence and the--
0:30
- Uh huh-- - Trees.
0:31
- [Paula] The fence, yeah, and the trees.
0:34
And-- - But the house.
0:37
- [Paula] The house and the garage
0:38
was done by
0:40
Get Lit
0:42
Jax.
0:43
And,
0:46
I think it looks so pretty.
0:48
Kind of looks like a winter wonderland to me.
0:51
- [Eddie] Yes.
0:52
- [Paula] Getting it to you.
0:53
- [Eddie] Yes.
0:54
- [Paula] And I wish we could do those
0:55
beautiful garages that Mike has but--
0:57
- [Eddie] Maybe next year we'll
0:58
tackle those. - Yeah, maybe next year.
0:59
We'll have to save our coins.
1:01
(Eddie and Paula laugh)
1:04
But everything turned out so pretty.
1:06
Now these little reindeer,
1:08
I actually found those at Sam's when,
1:11
was it last Christmas Eddie, or?
1:12
Christmas was two years ago?
1:14
- [Eddie] Yeah, I think it was two.
1:16
- [Paula] And I just thought they were so pretty.
1:23
I just love those little deer.
1:25
It's like we caught them
1:27
out here trying to eat some good stuff up.
1:31
And Eddie did
1:33
just beautiful wreaths
1:37
on the garage doors and the,
1:40
the gate, the fence when you come in.
1:42
And even our little chickadees
1:45
have a wreath. - Yes the little--
1:48
- And they have a red light in their,
1:53
in the hen house,
1:54
because someone told us
1:57
that a red light will encourage them to lay more eggs
2:01
because they had really gotten down to,
2:05
I mean like two or three a day.
2:07
And they should be
2:08
laying one egg per chicken a day.
2:13
But oh, how pretty.
2:15
And Eddie you even put a wreath up on the
2:18
gate going to Nick and Jody's house.
2:23
Oh, it's so pretty.
2:24
I wish I could just stay out here and
2:27
just look and look, and look.
2:33
And it's all very, very simple.
2:35
A lot of greenery. - Yeah no,
2:36
I think we kept it pretty simple
2:38
this year. - Yeah.
2:39
I don't think we did a whole bunch
2:42
this year, Eddie.
2:46
I know, I didn't particularly do so much,
2:48
but I know you worked awfully hard
2:51
on this gorgeous front door.
2:54
- [Eddie] And this year we tried to use a lot of
2:56
greenery from the yard.
2:57
- [Paula] Uh huh, Yes.
2:58
- [Eddie] Spray painted some
3:00
silver and gold. - Yes,
3:01
yes.
3:02
- [Eddie] Paula Deen Green.
3:03
- [Paula] Yes, and look at those beautiful pine cones.
3:06
- I know. - Where did we get those?
3:07
- [Eddie] You know, I mean we've had them forever
3:09
and we just keep using them and using them.
3:12
- I know it and they're just exquisite.
3:16
I don't ever recall seeing any that big.
3:19
And we found these
3:21
crystal balls
3:23
at,
3:26
in Albany at Anne's Secret Garden.
3:30
Which I just love Anne's stuff.
3:32
If y'all are ever in Albany
3:34
or go to her Facebook,
3:38
Anne's Secret Garden.
3:39
She's got some gorgeous stuff.
3:44
And these we bought from Anne's Secret Garden.
3:47
- [Eddie] Yeah, yeah.
3:48
- And these stay out here all the time.
3:50
But last year Eddie thought putting them in the
3:55
planters would be good.
3:57
And of course these little pillows over here,
4:00
sometimes in the least
4:02
expected places you can find neat pillows.
4:07
I mean, this is Walmart.
4:10
And this is the most beautiful,
4:12
he's like a crocheted Santa.
4:14
- [Eddie] Or a hook, or a like a hooked rug.
4:17
- [Paula] Uh huh, a hooked rug.
4:19
He's beautiful.
4:20
And I've never seen another one since.
4:26
And Eddie and Mike did all this,
4:31
which really sets everything off.
4:36
The other day, I'll tell y'all a quick funny story.
4:40
The other day, our electricity just went off.
4:43
And Michael's brother, Nick, and Jody live right next door.
4:47
They've lived there their whole entire life, or Nick has.
4:51
And, so Nick called Mike and he said,
4:56
he said, "Has the Griswolds knocked out all
4:58
of our electricity?"
4:59
(Eddie and Paula laugh)
5:01
Because we had just put up all these lights.
5:03
And I thought that was funny.
5:05
So we're known as the Griswolds this Christmas.
5:08
But y'all come on in.
5:10
Come on in, y'all.
5:14
Oh that greenery smells so good, Eddie.
5:17
- [Eddie] It does.
5:19
- [Paula] So to me,
5:22
the mantle is a showstopper.
5:24
- That's where we
5:25
started it all. - Eddie did.
5:26
Yes, Eddie did every piece of that y'all.
5:30
Every piece.
5:31
- [Eddie] So this is all out of the yard.
5:34
- Uh huh. - We've got the--
5:35
- [Paula] Yep.
5:36
Our palms. - Palms.
5:37
So we got the holly leaves.
5:40
- [Paula] You sprayed them.
5:41
- [Eddie] Crepe myrtle.
5:42
- [Paula] Look at these holly leaves, y'all.
5:44
He sprayed them. - This is crepe myrtle.
5:47
- Oh yeah, that's right's. - That's crepe myrtle.
5:48
- [Paula] That's right. (Eddie laughs)
5:49
- [Paula] And look how beautiful it makes it.
5:52
Just beautiful.
5:55
And what Lou?
5:56
Sometimes the simplest things.
5:58
And look at this precious Santa head.
6:02
I can't remember where I got him, Eddie.
6:06
But,
6:07
he's beautiful.
6:08
- [Eddie] Yeah, he looks like an old time.
6:10
- [Paula] An old-timey Santa.
6:14
- [Eddie] And speaking of Santa, there's--
6:17
- [Paula] Yes.
6:19
One of my
6:21
most treasured possessions.
6:24
My nephew Jay Hires,
6:29
Bob and Jill's son,
6:31
and Kari's brother painted that for me one Christmas.
6:36
And,
6:38
I treasure it.
6:39
I just treasure it.
6:40
Jay's no longer with us,
6:45
but
6:47
it brings back good memories of
6:50
when Jay was here with us and,
6:58
I just love it, Jay was such a talented artist.
7:01
He actually graduated from SCAD
7:05
and his talent was just
7:08
unlimited.
7:10
So I hope that darling boy is
7:18
happy and content now.
7:22
So Eddie set up the Byer's scene here.
7:26
And this is kind of the musicians.
7:28
- [Eddie] This is the Nutcracker suite.
7:29
- [Paula] Yeah, the Nutcracker suite.
7:32
And, I love the piano and the lady playing the piano
7:36
with her candelabra.
7:41
It's just beautiful, beautiful.
7:43
- [Eddie] And the Mouse King.
7:44
- [Paula] Uh huh.
7:46
And over here, Linton came in the other day
7:49
and he said, "Oh, Guinea, I love this.
7:51
I love this staircase."
7:54
And he was putting his figures on it.
7:57
- [Eddie] His Transformers.
7:59
- [Paula] Uh huh, his Transformers.
8:01
- [Eddie] Mr. Scrooge would
8:02
not like that. - Yes.
8:03
- That's-- - Yes.
8:04
- [Eddie] Mr. Scrooge's staircase.
8:05
- [Paula] Yes.
8:07
But you can get accessories like this
8:10
for your Christmas dolls.
8:14
And look at this picture right here, y'all.
8:18
That's Gus posing
8:20
as Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
8:23
(Paula laughs)
8:26
It took us forever to get that picture,
8:28
didn't it, Eddie? - Yes.
8:29
Many, many takes.
8:31
- Yes.
8:32
And over here,
8:35
we've just got the Byers everywhere.
8:39
Now, I made these
8:40
Christmas stockings
8:42
back in
8:43
1972.
8:46
So they would be,
8:49
help me,
8:50
hit me Eddie.
8:51
- 51-- - 28.
8:52
- 50-- - 38, 48,
8:55
over 50 years old.
8:57
And I've still got the mama,
9:00
mama, Jamie, and Bobby stockings.
9:03
And of course they were way too little
9:05
to use as their stockings.
9:07
I couldn't have,
9:08
or saying I couldn't have gotten anything in them.
9:11
So
9:12
we moved on
9:14
to bigger ones but I treasure these.
9:17
I treasure these.
9:21
It's so pretty.
9:23
And every Christmas I put out
9:26
pictures from Christmas past.
9:29
And let me get up here Eddie and open,
9:34
open these up.
9:35
I can't believe I don't have them framed.
9:39
And both of these are of Bobby.
9:42
1980, I didn't put the date on that one.
9:47
But look at Benny, ain't he precious.
9:51
And this was the cover to cooking with Paula Deen Magazine.
9:56
One Christmas, look at.
9:57
I had three little boys,
10:00
but,
10:02
we put,
10:05
we put our Christmas pictures out.
10:09
And Christmas pictures all over here.
10:13
And this-- - This is,
10:14
this is kinda your prize possession right there.
10:17
- [Paula] Yes, yes, yes.
10:20
This is all the grandchildren.
10:24
And they would have a hard time finding
10:28
their picture on the tree.
10:31
So Eddie said, let's make a separate one.
10:35
A separate tree.
10:36
And so we did.
10:37
Look at that precious little Jack,
10:39
that little book right there.
10:41
Oh and Bennet.
10:45
And I have a lot of Jack and Maddie here
10:47
because they're the oldest.
10:49
They've been around the longest.
10:52
Look at little Davis.
10:57
I just love looking at these pictures.
11:01
Of course, we've got the dolls here.
11:06
And our Christmas tree.
11:08
Last Christmas, our friend Elaine Sea Bolt brought me
11:15
the red truck
11:17
and the red wagon.
11:22
And over here, I love this picture.
11:25
I was at Pigeon Forge
11:27
turning on the Christmas tree lights at,
11:31
on the island there at cooking with Paula Deen
11:35
and Eddie grabbed a shot of Santa Claus kissing.
11:40
Miss Claus, which was me.
11:43
(Paula and Eddie laugh)
11:45
Oh, I thought that was just so sweet.
11:50
So this ornament is full of,
11:55
mainly, it's full of
11:58
my--
12:02
- [Eddie] Ragco-- - Ragco, yes.
12:03
- [Eddie] And vintage--
12:04
- Now this-- - Italian.
12:05
- [Paula] This is so old.
12:08
- [Eddie] And that's-- - So old.
12:09
Yes. - Martha Washington.
12:10
- [Paula] Martha Washington.
12:12
Old, old,
12:13
old, old, old. - And the Venetian.
12:16
- [Paula] Yes.
12:18
And look, that was one of the first,
12:20
that was one of the first ones
12:23
that I found.
12:24
And I found them at a yard sale in Albany
12:26
before we ever moved to Savannah.
12:30
And,
12:33
I just love that clown.
12:38
But I know I've got some older ones,
12:40
but we had so much y'all.
12:43
I know I've got box after box,
12:45
after box of more ornaments.
12:48
And,
12:49
but seems like I got tired
12:51
of putting the ornaments on
12:52
because that was kind of my job.
12:53
- [Eddie] And we don't have the the big tree anymore.
12:57
This is-- - I know.
12:58
But that's still a big tree. - It's still a big tree, yeah.
13:00
- [Paula] Yes.
13:01
And stand back here, Eddie, and get that mantle.
13:04
I don't know if we were too close to it for them to see.
13:09
But you did a spectacular job on that mantle.
13:13
- [Eddie] Thank you, that was kind of take two,
13:15
our first-- - Yeah.
13:17
- [Eddie] Try.
13:19
I think the heat got to the fresh greens, so.
13:21
(Paula laughs)
13:22
Let's see how long, if this,
13:23
this might take us through Christmas.
13:25
- Oh well, I'm gonna keep our fingers crossed.
13:29
Last year we brought the,
13:33
the garland down to the floor.
13:36
And this year Eddie did a short,
13:38
and I like the short so much better.
13:40
- [Eddie] Yeah it's a little cleaner looking.
13:42
- And over here.
13:43
And I'm a nut for,
13:48
for--
13:49
- [Eddie] Snow globes.
13:50
- Snow globes, I couldn't think of the name of it.
13:53
And over here, this is one of my favorite cabinets.
13:58
And we just have different little scenes.
14:01
Bubbles gave me this one Christmas, the
14:06
Sea Captain Santa.
14:11
And Byers also has
14:13
snowmen.
14:18
And this one down here, I love this one, Eddie.
14:21
The artist.
14:24
- [Eddie] Yeah, Bubbles I think gave you that.
14:26
- Uh huh, she did.
14:27
She gave me that one too.
14:34
All right.
14:36
Like I said, we didn't go crazy this year y'all.
14:40
In our little den in here,
14:47
we did very, very little.
14:50
Very, very little.
14:52
Except for our snow globes.
14:55
And this is a beautiful, beautiful
14:59
set of dolls from Byers.
15:01
It's a Salvation Army group.
15:05
And I love them.
15:09
Oh, yay.
15:10
Now we can see.
15:13
- [Eddie] This is a nice, cozy, dark room.
15:16
- [Paula] Uh huh.
15:17
- [Eddie] I love it, it's--
15:18
- Yes. - Kind of like a library.
15:20
- Yes, oh I missed turning a snow globe on.
15:26
So, you know, not a whole bunch in here.
15:29
And I do want y'all to see
15:31
this is a beautiful light fixture
15:33
that we had made for this room.
15:37
But you can't see it now because
15:39
Eddie covered it with all this beautiful stuff.
15:42
And you added the red balls today,
15:44
didn't you? - I added, and the cardinals.
15:46
- [Paula] Yes, I saw the cardinals.
15:48
And I love it.
15:50
I just love it.
15:52
And this is just ivy right here.
15:54
- [Eddie] Yeah, it's spray painted.
15:55
- It's spray painted ivy. - Spray painted ivy,
15:57
and spray painted
16:00
Holly.
16:00
- [Paula] Yes.
16:01
- [Eddie] And then the Crepe myrtle.
16:03
- [Paula] Yes.
16:04
And for my centerpiece on my table,
16:06
I just did my apple tree.
16:08
Which I just, I love using the fresh fruit.
16:12
- [Eddie] I'm glad you did it.
16:13
Last year you,
16:15
said you, just didn't wanna do it last year.
16:18
- [Paula] I didn't I didn't do it last year?
16:19
- [Eddie] You didn't do it last year.
16:19
(Eddie laughs)
16:20
- [Paula] Well that was, that was lazy of me.
16:23
(Eddie and Paula laugh)
16:25
And over here,
16:30
Eddie has the dolls.
16:33
- [Eddie] And then this is just the traditional,
16:35
traditional colonial.
16:36
- [Paula] Yep.
16:38
This is just the scenes.
16:41
And these are the accessories that you can buy.
16:45
I love the gate and the fireplace.
16:47
Let's see, where is the fireplace?
16:49
- [Eddie] It's over with the
16:52
Christmas Carol.
16:53
- [Paula] Oh, okay.
16:58
And I love this one.
16:59
And my friend Diane Cook sent me this one
17:04
and this one-- - And that one, yep.
17:06
- [Paula] And one more, didn't she send three?
17:10
I'm positive she did.
17:12
- [Eddie] Yeah, I think it's up on the shelf up there.
17:14
- You sure, it wasn't this one?
17:16
- [Eddie] I think it's over there on the,
17:19
on the-- - But these are vintage.
17:26
What does the date say on that?
17:30
20--
17:31
- [Eddie] Can't tell.
17:32
- That may not be it.
17:33
2014 or, I don't know, I can't see.
17:38
But like I said, the old ones just thrill me to pieces.
17:41
And,
17:43
like I said,
17:45
very, very light,
17:50
over here.
17:53
And this is my nativity scene.
17:55
And somehow little Jesus' arms got broke.
18:00
But I found this when we went on a cruise to Mexico.
18:06
And I thought it was so pretty.
18:08
Just
18:10
the solid white.
18:15
To me, it's just beautiful.
18:18
Now, this is from our Paula Deen store, isn't it?
18:20
- [Eddie] Yes,
18:22
yes.
18:23
- And look at this precious Santa Claus lamp,
18:25
somebody gave it to Eddie.
18:28
He brought it in here
18:29
and said I could use it for the holidays.
18:32
And of course we got our beautiful house that
18:36
was made and sent to us.
18:40
Hadn't it been a year?
18:41
- [Eddie] Yeah, it was last year yeah.
18:44
And I just put vintage snowman lamp next to it.
18:49
- Yes.
18:50
We had all the Christmas,
18:53
this was made for with Christmas trees
18:56
and poinsettias and all that.
18:58
So we took that off though
19:00
because we wanted to use it year round every day.
19:08
Because it's so beautiful, so beautiful.
19:14
So that is it, y'all.
19:18
That's it.
19:19
- [Eddie] I hope everyone
19:21
had as much fun decorating their property as we did.
19:25
(Eddie and Paula laugh)
19:26
- Well, I just love watching you, Eddie.
19:28
I love watching you do it.
19:30
So I hope you enjoyed our little tour
19:33
because Eddie and I love being
19:35
with y'all so very much, and Theresa.
19:40
And we thank y'all for all the love and support
