0:01
- Well, hey y'all, happy Thanksgiving.
0:04
Welcome back to The Chicken Box.
0:07
Today, I'm doing something for you that is fun,
0:11
and there's all different things that you could do.
0:13
We're making a compound butter today.
0:16
So all you need is some butter and then an idea.
0:21
You can put lots of different fruits in here.
0:25
You can go savory. (grater clicks)
0:28
Today we're doing Thanksgiving butter.
0:32
Now you'll wanna do this ahead of time,
0:34
'cause this goes into the refrigerator.
0:36
When we get done with it, I'll show you.
0:38
The first thing that we're gonna need is some butter.
0:41
I've softened one stick of butter.
0:44
I'm gonna drop it down here in my bowl.
0:46
I was waiting for Theresa to get everything going.
0:49
I started zesting our orange.
0:55
- Hey Bets, I have the zest of one orange.
0:59
Betsy, what can I do for you, babe?
1:03
You need me 'cause I'm tall?
1:05
Okay, I'll see you have two minutes.
1:07
No rest for the weary, y'all.
1:09
So the butter that I'm gonna do today
1:10
is for our Thanksgiving table.
1:12
And Thanksgiving is orange zest and cranberries.
1:15
These cranberries are chopped up super small.
1:19
Make sure you soften this butter
1:21
or you're gonna have a tough time.
1:23
And see that's it, y'all.
1:24
You have the butter, I have the cranberries,
1:26
and I have the orange.
1:27
I've done a lot of fruit butters
1:29
for different steaks and things like that.
1:32
It's always fun to play with.
1:36
It looks like Thanksgiving.
1:38
You want to get this mixed up
1:46
Now if you're doing this for your family, y'all,
1:47
I only did one stick of butter here today,
1:49
but if you're sure enough got your Thanksgiving table
1:51
and everybody's coming, put you a pound of butter in here.
1:57
Find you some deli paper.
2:06
I'm gonna have to taste this.
2:07
I'm gonna pull a little bit out.
2:12
And what we want to do is roll this up.
2:16
kind of like back into a stick of butter.
2:25
Roll this up just like this,
2:28
and then I'm gonna put it into the oven
2:29
and put it in the oven,
2:31
put it in the refrigerator
2:32
and then when I knead it, it's gonna harden back up.
2:35
So we'll take this and slice it
2:36
just like a regular pad of butter.
2:37
But first they say the proof is in the pudding.
2:43
- [Staff] The proof is in the pudding.
2:52
- Keep commentary to yourself over there, old lady.
2:56
- [Theresa] We have Jelly Roll joining us.
2:58
- She don't hardly eat nothing.
3:00
My mouth is watering.
3:01
You don't want to try it? - [Staff] No.
3:05
I don't like the biscuit.
3:10
- You're always telling me.
3:12
If she don't eat it, that'll leave more for me.
3:15
- [Staff] Well you can have it.
3:17
- This is really good y'all.
3:18
Y'all make this for Thanksgiving
3:20
and it'll be one more item you're thankful for.
3:23
I'm Jamie Dean, this is good food.
3:25
See y'all around the kitchen.
3:30
