Hey Otis, you're ready for the picnic to start, aren't you buddy
0:09
You want a treat? Yeah. Y'all, the first recipe that I'm going to share with y'all today
0:14
is called a chocolate gooey butter cookie. And it's one of those recipes that you're going to love
0:20
because you start with just a chocolate moist cake mix. So, I mean, that's a great start to a delicious, easy dessert
0:32
And we're going to add a little something different, though, to our mix
0:37
We're going to start with an eight-ounce package of cream cheese and a stick of butter that's been brought to room temperature
0:43
And we're just going to beat that until it's creamy. Aren't we, Otis
0:52
Aren't we? Uh-oh, and here comes your brother Cody. He heard the word treat, too
1:03
Okay. I've got this creamed nice and smooth together. Now I'm going to add an egg and give it another quick, quick beat
1:13
Okay now I gonna add a teaspoon of vanilla and I going to add the cake mix
1:30
Now, if y'all remember, if y'all are a big fan of the gooey butter cakes, this is mainly
1:36
the ingredients that go in the gooey butter cakes. We've got the cream cheese, we've got the butter, we've got the vanilla, we've got the
1:43
cake mix, but it's just the way that these are incorporated. They're incorporated all together rather than the different
1:51
layers of the normal gooey butter cake. And you can use any kind of chocolate cake mix
2:07
You can use a mocha or you can use even the devil's food cake
2:11
You know, as long as it's chocolate. Okay. You can see how stiff our battery is
2:20
but it's still not quite stiff enough. We want to make sure that when we put our cookie in the oven
2:26
it's not going to spread all over our cookie sheet. So I'm going to cover this and stick it in the refrigerator
2:31
and let it sit for about two hours until it nice and chilled And I got some that already ready in the refrigerator
2:47
And you can see how chilled that one is. So, Otis! All right, now we're going to just take our dough
2:59
and we're going to roll it into a ball a little smaller than a walnut
3:04
it. And then I'm going to take it and I'm going to roll it in powdered sugar. So this
3:10
is kind of going to give it a little crackled look after they're done. They're going to
3:16
be real chewy when we bite into them. Now we're going to bake these in a 350 degree
3:24
oven for about 10 minutes so it's not going to be long before we're all eating cookies
3:30
guys. Are y'all, are y'all missing another dog? Another dog named Gertie. Well, I was so sad the
3:38
other morning. I came into the kitchen and I found a note. Gertie told me that he just could not stand
3:47
being around all these other dogs anymore. So an agent had contacted him about getting his own show
3:54
So Gertie laughed And we miss her so very much don we guys So if I see Gertie again I tell her that y all ask about her and said hello
4:11
She's a very special girl. Okay, these are ready to go. So in the oven for 10 minutes
4:26
I think they're ready. Oh, and they are. They look just like I told you they were going to look
4:35
Because of rolling them in the powdered sugar, it gave them a crackled look
4:40
I don't like a real, real hot cookie, so these are nice and cool
4:45
and I'm just giving them an extra little sprinkle of powdered sugar
4:49
and they're just beautiful. They're a beautiful, beautiful cookie. They've got so much texture because we rolled them in that powdered sugar
5:01
Ooh. Mmm. Oh, my goodness, they're delicious. They're moist and almost chewy
5:15
Mmm. Really, really good
