Hey y'all, I'm Paula Deen, and I hope y'all gonna get out your cards, your chips, your boards, and your dice
0:07
cause tonight it's game night at Paula's house. And while the boys are out getting drinks at Habersham Beverage Warehouse
0:14
I'm gonna be dealing out some goodies to please any gambler's appetite
0:19
First, it's gonna be a new spin on an old favorite. Would you believe hogs in a sleeping bag
0:25
And my special crabbies are the ace up my sleeve. And when it's time to take a break and recoup, I'm going to serve up my taco soup
0:34
And you know, since everybody's a winner in my house, I'm going to be serving up Michael's favorite reward, mini cheesecakes with a chocolate peanut butter cup center
0:45
So y'all stick around. You might just learn a trick or two. All right, guys
1:20
Now, listen now, y'all. I need for y'all to pick up some beer for the cocktail that I'm going to do
1:28
I need for y'all to turn your hats around. Okay. Because Michael and I are going to have everything
1:33
Okay. Beers. Love y'all, too. And guys, y'all don't forget now, it's game night
1:48
I'm going to take advantage while all those men are out of my hair
1:52
to get us some snacks going. So the first thing that I'm gonna fix
1:56
instead of pigs in a blanket, hogs in a sleeping bag. I went to the store and I just bought
2:03
the smoked kielbasa sausage. And what we're gonna do is steam them
2:08
just to bring them up to temperature. Because it's such a thick, big meat
2:13
I wanna make sure that it's really hot in the center. So I'm gonna bring them to room temperature
2:18
They're fully cooked, so all they have to do is get hot. When I went to the store, I thought
2:24
well, some puff pastry would be a little bit more hearty and filling than crescent rolls
2:29
So that's what we're going to use for our hogs in a sleeping blanket. And I'm going to roll this out just a little bit
2:37
I want to be able to get more squares out of this than I would if I didn't roll it
2:42
All right, so I'm going to come over here and I'm going to cut my pastry. That's going to give me six sleeping bags
2:54
When I made these for the men at Bell South, I made them just like this
3:00
I just rolled them up. But if you really want it to look like a sleeping bag, we're going to wrap it and we're going
3:11
I'm gonna just kinda fold it back so he looks like his head's sticking out of a sleeping
3:16
bag. I'm gonna change this hog's sleeping bag. I think I'm gonna dampen that edge, cause
3:30
I don't want it popping on me. Play with your food as well as your family. He's just too
3:41
We're gonna beat us up an egg, cause I want them to be pretty and shiny
3:48
All right, so we're just gonna take this and brush it on, and that'll give it a real pretty shiny finish
3:54
Otherwise, puff pastry will come out real dull looking. All right, these are ready to go into the oven
4:02
So I'm just gonna watch it. It may take 15 or 20 minutes. I sure hope those boys are not getting into any mischief
4:20
Gosh, what a beautiful day, man. Isn't it great? Let's kind of kick around for a little bit
4:24
We got time. Let's do it. We don't mention this stopped the mom, right? No
4:31
No, mama. We haven't been at the golf course. It's hot. What a great idea
4:37
Had a good time at the golf course. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. We have to hurry up and get to the liquor store
4:47
I mean, we're really late. Alright, brother, we're running late. Do you know where the beer is
4:55
You go that way, I'll take it this way. Jamie! She's 8 feet tall
5:07
Huh, what you got? I found your one Awesome thanks What you doing I was just admiring the advertising Come on man we gotta go Here some beer
5:24
How about grab a six-pack? That's pretty good beer. Come on, hurry up. Priorities, bro
5:34
Hey, hey, hey, hey. That's my best salesperson. You can't take her. Baby, try to hold on
5:40
I'll be back. Come on, Bob. Have fun, guys. Oh, well. All right
5:48
We're going to start making our crabbies. And we're going to use a half a stick of butter
5:54
And I'm going to mix that up with an old English cheese
5:59
But it's just good stuff. Now, I'm going to just press my butter
6:03
because it's not real soft, but it won't take it long. And we're just going to pop our cheese open
6:09
All right, so I'm going to mix the butter and the cheese together
6:13
and I'm going to add a couple of tablespoons of mayonnaise and a little garlic powder
6:20
All right, and then I'm going to add a couple of drops of hot sauce to it. Well, that was actually more than a couple of drops, wasn't it
6:26
All right, so let's talk about crab meat. Any crab that you buy is going to be already cooked
6:31
In the grocery store that you shop in, you can talk with your seafood manager
6:36
and he can kind of steer you the right way. Now this particular crab that I'm using today has been picked free of shells, so we're safe there
6:47
I'm just going to kind of stir that together. And this is a great little snack because you can actually make these ahead of time and
6:54
pop them in your freezer and then just pull them out and throw them in the oven as you're
6:59
ready to serve them. Now what we've done is taken just a regular English muffin and split it apart and I've
7:06
lightly toasted these. So we're gonna take our bread rounds between your butter and your
7:12
cheese and your crab. These are real, real rich. You don't want to get too much
7:29
All right, there you go. And like I said, at this point, you could actually stick these
7:34
in the freezer, so when your family wants a snack, all you have to do is just pull them
7:38
out and pop them into the oven. All right, we're going to put these in, and I hope that
7:42
those hogs in a blanket are going to be ready. Oh, yeah, those look good. Hey, darling. I'll
7:55
test one of these. Walk on out. Mmm, yummy. Y'all, that was Michael. And let me tell you
8:07
there ain't a dime's worth of difference between he and Rennie. He always turns up just in time
8:13
for it to come out of the oven. Now, I've got strawberry preserves here that I made the other
8:19
day, or if they want them savory, they can just put a little mustard and mayonnaise on them
8:25
Mmm, mmm, mmm. I just love sleeping with a hog. Y'all don't go anywhere
8:33
because when we come back, I'm gonna be checking on the Krabbies
8:37
and I'm gonna be making a pot of taco soup. All right, I'm just trying to pull all my ingredients together for this taco soup
8:59
This dish is going to be great because they don't have to eat it until they're ready
9:04
because when they're ready, this is ready for... Paula, something's burning. Oh, crap, my crabbies
9:11
Oh no. They're all right! Thank goodness I got some more in this other oven
9:25
They're just perfect, honey. Don't you worry about them. You know what
9:33
I think I'm gonna put them right in there so I won't be found out. Because I don't have to worry about him taking out the trash
9:39
All right. Now these krabbies have been in the oven about 12 minutes
9:46
and I've just got to try one, and I'm gonna sprinkle them with just a little parsley
9:51
just whatever you wanted to. And I've just got to try these
9:59
You and Michael, Gertie. They're delicious. I'm gonna put these to the side, though
10:08
because I really want to get this soup together. And as you can tell, I've had a lot of distractions
10:18
So I've kind of burned a couple of things and... Oops May be on the way to burning the next dish Gonna toss in some diced onion and I just gonna brown this hamburger meat
10:40
Now, I love to make this particular soup in the crock pot and just let it simmer for six to eight hours
10:47
but the way I'm gonna make it today brings my cooking time down to 45 minutes to an hour
10:53
All right, now I'm using a slotted spoon. And I'm gonna transfer our ground beef and our onions
10:59
to our soup pot. This is not gonna take long. Now to put our soup together
11:10
we're gonna add a can of kidney beans with the juice. And then I'm gonna add
11:21
two cans of pinto beans. All right, now I'm gonna be adding three different kinds of tomatoes to this soup
11:32
I'm gonna add a Mexican tomato, tomato with chilies, and just a regular diced tomato
11:38
So all we have to do is just dump. Oops. All right, that takes care of the tomatoes
11:50
To this now, I'm gonna add a can of whole kernel corn
11:58
some green chilies, some black olives, and some green olives. Taco seasoning, that's gonna give us that Mexican flavor
12:14
One package of dry original ranch buttermilk dressing, and we're gonna let that simmer for about 45 minutes
12:24
Gonna add some beautiful green onion tops. So look at that beautiful pot of hearty soup
12:35
Now the beauty of this soup is you can make it two days in advance, or you can even put it in the freezer
12:40
and it'll last up to three months. All right, I've got another pot ready over here
12:45
in the crock pot because it'll maintain just the right temperature, and we're gonna pull this out later on when I'm really, really
12:52
short of time. All right, so I want you to see what it should look like after it's been simmering
12:59
And they'll never know I've been in this. Now let me show y'all the way I like to eat chili and taco soup
13:11
I'm gonna start by getting the tortilla shells, and then I'm gonna ladle my soup on it
13:17
Mmm, and I like that juice. The first thing I'm going to do is sprinkle me some cheese so it can melt
13:25
We just love jalapenos. And I'm just going to pop out those seeds
13:30
Michael likes his to make his hair stand up, to flip his lid
13:35
All right, and to this I'm going to add sour cream. And when we come back, I'm going to show y'all what I cooked up for Michael
13:49
I decided to combine two of his favorite things in the whole world
13:54
cheesecake and Reese's Buttercup. So y'all don't go anywhere. I'll be in the kitchen burning some more stuff
14:08
You know, the other night as I was drifting off to sleep
14:20
I thought, well, now what can I fix for Michael because he's got a tremendous sweet tooth
14:25
and I know how he feels about cheesecake. So that's what I'm going to do today
14:31
I'm going to start with a graham cracker crust. We're going to use just finely ground graham crackers
14:39
and I'm going to add some melted butter and some sugar. And then I'm just going to take my fork and mash around in that
14:47
until it's kind of all moist, just like that. And then I'm just going to sprinkle a little bit
14:55
into the bottom of a little miniature muffin liner, just like that
15:03
And then I'm gonna come in there, and I'm gonna drop a peanut butter cup down into each one of those
15:13
Just drop a candy right there in the center of each of those little liners
15:21
Now we're gonna mix up our cheesecake, and we're gonna use two packages of 8-ounce softened cream cheese
15:28
a cup of sugar, 1 1⁄4 of a cup of flour. All right, we're just gonna cream this together
15:45
All right and I gonna add two eggs I going to add them one at the time
15:59
Cheesecake is so very simple to be so very sinful. All right, I'm going to add my flavoring to it now
16:09
And, you know, actually a little almond flavoring would be really, really good
16:13
but I'm going to just add a little bit of vanilla flavoring. When you're making a cheesecake, actually when you're doing any kind of bacon
16:26
you'll want to make sure that your butter, your cream cheese, and even your eggs have been brought to room temperature
16:33
They'll work much better for you. and we're just going to take our cream cheese batter
16:40
and pour it right over those peanut butter cups. And these are great to have as a snack while you're working
17:05
These are ready to go into the 350 preheated oven, and we're gonna let them cook for, oh, maybe about 12 minutes
17:15
And let's see if this other batch is ready. Oh, and they are
17:21
Hey, Mom. Hey, Son. Oh, perfect timing. You take yourself out of the oven
17:25
Y'all made it back. Yes. Listen, I was kind of worried about y'all making a beer run
17:30
Hey, Mom, I gotta have one of these. No, I hadn't finished decorating them
17:34
I got a pastry bag with whipping cream. I just want to hug you
17:38
I love you. I don't much. You little . No! No . Seriously
17:47
Y'all get out of my kitchen. Get out right now. OK. I want to watch you finish them
17:55
Can I have one, really? No, you cannot. I'm not. I'm done. No
18:00
Finish it. Finish that one. OK. There. Yeah. I've got some powdered sugar, I've got some grated chocolate
18:08
and I've got some whipped cream. So I think whipped cream and then a little grated chocolate
18:15
I can't wait. No, you wanted yours now. You don't see me with her
18:19
I am starving. You wanted yours now. Take it. Finish it. Thank you
18:25
I love you. You're welcome. Why you've had to do me so wrong my whole life
18:30
Well, I've got the perfect party food. They're better than good. And we're going to have a perfect family party night with all the games
18:38
And Michael and the boys are going to be joining me. And I'm going to teach them how to play games
18:42
And the only thing missing is the perfect family. I've got an actual secret to share with y'all
19:01
If you've been to a party the night before and maybe it got a little too festive
19:07
a little hair of the dog sometimes will really perk you up
19:12
Now I'm going to take a regular beer, and these are great too if you want to throw your mug into the freezer
19:17
and freeze it and get it nice and frosty. Half tomato juice
19:25
I'm going to give it a couple of swirls. I'm gonna sprinkle it with a little salt and a little pepper
19:34
Squirt a lime juice. And it really makes for a very, very tasty cocktail
19:48
Alright, what kind of games y'all got for us? Well, we got a little checkers or we got a little cards
19:53
And I'm not playing any cards. I learned that a long time ago
19:56
Pictionary, too. Can you guess what that says? No, Paula, hot bananas hot
20:04
That's it. You got it. Not your mama's banana pudding. Isn't that great
20:12
Not your mama's banana pudding. We weren't sure what beer was going to work for this
20:21
but I picked some up and submitted for your approval. This is what beer we're going for
20:30
The Three Stooges beer. I think this kind of says it all
20:36
Well, guys, let's get this eating done because I'm ready to beat y'all's brains out at the games
20:42
So as always, America, my family and I send you love and best dishes from our kitchen to yours
20:53
We done doing something behind my back? Not at all, right in front of your face
