- Y'all today,

I've got somebody very special stopping by.

My friend Frank is coming all the way

is a little bit of black pepper.
7:24
- Yes.

when we lived at River Bend
9:00
and he would shoot the rabbits and squirrels,

bring them back and grandma would cook 'em for breakfast.

I would go into a fancy restaurant and they'd serve rabbit.

10:09
- Wow over how long of a period of time?
10:12
- Over 35 years, so it's been a long time.
10:15

10:19

10:21
I was the guy cooking the steaks.
10:23
And I say to one of the other guys,
10:25
"How do you want your steak?"
10:26
'Cause I was frying steaks and he said, "Medium rare."

And I said, "Mmhh, an aristocrat."
10:32
And it turned out to be one of the most famous lines
10:35
in the movie, okay?
10:37
And that whole scene was done imprompt.
10:40
Martin Scorsese, he just told us,
10:42
"Talk about the neighborhood, talk about food,
10:44
talk about things like that."
10:46
The reason that line came to me was,
10:48
my father overcooked meat.
10:51
My father loved meat so well done that you couldn't eat it.
10:54
- The older generation, yes that's-
10:55
- That he liked that.
10:58
And that was my father's line,

11:04
My father would say, "Mmhh, an aristocrat."

- So, it was a lot of fun, it was a great film.
11:14
- I'm gonna scoot on over here.

13:28

13:38
- And again though, people should remember that's optional.
13:42

- In my world, it's not an option.
13:46

13:48

13:51
- And I have to tell you,
13:53
that was the most incredible marinara sauce,
13:56
I've ever tasted.
13:57
- Wow, thank you very much.
13:59
- The simpleness of it.
14:01
- And you get it.
14:02
- I don't know what to say.
14:04
- It happens.
14:04
- All right, if you'll take the salt pork
14:06
and we'll cut this off and cover it
14:09
because I've got some other things for you to do.
14:12
- Okay, this is ready.
14:13
- We need to get, we got our water boiling back here.
14:16
We need to put our linguine on
14:19
and then we're gonna finish putting our tiramisu together.
14:23
And I've got a bottle of coffee liqour, Frank.
14:28
- Okay.
14:29
- And I've got me a little pastry brush.
14:31
So I'm gonna just brush.
14:34
If you would darling, put the linguine
14:36
and do that part any way you want to.
14:41
- I'm gonna salt this water.
14:42
- Yes, baby.
14:43
This kitchen is yours for the day.
14:45
Yum, this smells so good.
14:48
So this is gonna help moisten up our tiramisu cake.
14:53
(upbeat music)
14:57
All right, there we go.
14:59
All right, so Frank, I've got you eight ounces
15:03
of a semi-sweet chocolate.
15:05
You can either chop it or just break it,
15:08
however you wanna do.
15:09
I've got your pan on, heat your heavy cream,
15:13
melt the chocolate in the heavy cream.
15:16
- Okay.
15:17
- I have got our cakes to soak in.
15:19
So I'm gonna put a mascarpone filling in between each layer.
15:25
Do you love mascarpone? - Love mascarpone.
15:27
- Oh my goodness, I adore it too.
15:29
(upbeat music)
15:32
Now I'm gonna take our mascarpone, put it in our bowl.
15:36
I'm gonna add a fourth of a cup of white sugar
15:39
and use that whole cup of heavy cream
15:42
to melt the chocolate, please Frank.
15:44
(upbeat music)
15:49
I'm gonna beat my mascarpone.
15:51
(machine buzzing)
15:53
There we go, get that nice and smooth.
15:58
Now, I'm gonna measure us out, a half a cup of heavy cream
16:04
and I'm gonna beat that in there.
16:07
All right, yours is really boiling over there, Frank.
16:10
- It's coming, we're getting there.
16:11
- Yeah, might wanna give it a stir darling.
16:13
- I will.
16:15
- And our linguine back there is just boiling.
16:19
Oh, I can't hardly wait to eat the chicken cacciatore.
16:22
(Frank chuckling)
16:23
I can't hardly wait.
16:25
So you said you've done three Woody Allen movies.
16:29
- Right.
16:30
- What was it like working with him?
16:33
- It was actually wonderful.
16:35
I mean, I think the man is brilliant
16:38
and what's great is when you're on the set and he's working,
16:44
you can watch him think, he never stops thinking.
16:49
And you can see him look and watch
16:51
and look for nuisances that he'll stop in the middle
16:54
and say, "But, let's shoot that because I like that.
16:57
It was unexpected, but it works.
16:59
So let's do a whole new set up," and we'll do that.
17:01
- So he recognizes something special when he sees it.
17:05
- He does and so you're gonna see the man,
17:07
his brain is always, always working.
17:10
- All right, now we're gonna have to let this cool
17:13
for like 15 minutes
17:15
because it would do terrible damage to our mascarpone, hot.
17:20
So we're gonna put that aside, let it cool.
17:23
Check on your linguine.
17:24
- Oh.
17:26
- Because in a couple of minutes,
17:27
when this is cooled Frank,
17:29
we're gonna be ready to build our cake.
17:31
(upbeat music)
17:34
Coming up, I think Frank's learned a thing
17:37
or two about dessert at my house.
17:40
Beautiful, you might ought
17:41
to think about opening a restaurant.
17:43

18:21
- I need your help.
18:22
I'm gonna put a little bit of that mascarpone right there,
18:25
just so my cake won't move around.
18:29
All right, the first thing we're gonna do
18:32
is put a layer of chocolate
18:34
and I'm gonna use like half of it.
18:40
How yummy does that look.
18:41
- It looks great.
18:43
- Now we're gonna put our layer of mascarpone.
18:47
So we want a nice layer of that.
18:51
Now we're gonna put a layer of ladyfingers.
18:55
- Okay.
18:58
- Just get them all around there.
18:59
- Are we gonna go around the whole?
19:01
- Yes, yes we're gonna cover the whole layer.
19:03
I'm going to put one more on
19:05
and we're gonna do the same thing.
19:11
Beautiful.
19:13
You might ought to think about opening a restaurant.
19:15
- I will but our (mumbling).
19:17
(both laughing)
19:18
- I'm gonna try that.
19:20
- Now we'll use these sticks to keep our cake layers
19:23
from sliding.
19:24
Then we're gonna do the same thing all over again,
19:27
starting with the melted chocolate.
19:28
Look at that, I mean this is like a masterpiece, aint it?
19:32
- It is a masterpiece.
19:33
(upbeat music)
19:38
- Yum, yum.
19:39
(upbeat music)
19:46

19:52
if you would get that wonderful entree.
19:55

20:11
- Oh my God, I may be in love.
20:13
(Frank laughing)
20:15
(upbeat music)
20:20

20:22
- How beautiful is this?
20:23
- I almost can't believe this moment.
20:27
- Neither can I, it's beautiful.
20:28
And this is the way- - It's magic.
20:30
- On your porch, in this beautiful setting,
20:34
it couldn't be better than this.
20:36
(upbeat music)
20:39
Let's eat.
20:40
- I am so hungry.
20:42
- It looks good to me.
20:43
- Oh my goodness.
20:44
Now, I'm kinda messy when I eat spaghetti.
20:48
(Frank laughing)
20:50
(upbeat music)
20:55
- This is great, you can taste all of that flavor in here.
20:58
- Look at that, I'm getting better,
21:00
I'm getting tighter knots.
21:02
- See, I knew you were Italian.
21:05
