Okay, one pot, Paula
0:03
Pick a friend. Make a new friend. Bam, baby! Oh, my God
0:07
Stand back. Get out of the way. Ooh, doggies. Because I told you, it's magical
0:18
Thank y'all, thank y'all, thank y'all. You know, in our repertoire, we all have to have a one pot wonder
0:26
and this is one of my favorite go-to's when I was raising my boys
0:32
because I could do it quick, delicious, and economical. And I'm gonna start, y'all, with four mild Italian sausage
0:43
and I'm gonna brown those off. And I can be a bit of a lazy puss
0:51
so I'm not gonna peel my potatoes. I'm just gonna quarter them
0:56
because, you know, they say that all the nutrients are in the skin
1:02
This is a great way. Now, look at those two potatoes. That can feed actually four people
1:10
Two potatoes. All right, get back down in there. That sausage was wanting to come out on me
1:16
This is a lazy dish, Paula. It is a lazy dish, and I make it especially lazy by not peeling my potatoes
1:24
You know, when I make mashed potatoes, y'all, I don't peel them
1:31
All right, now I'm just going to shred this cabbage just kind of like so
1:39
All right, so I'm going to put a little butter. It going to supply some oils as it cooks but I just going to help it along a little bit How many of y love cabbage I love it And when you cooking it and the family starts coming in they say ooh doggies
2:02
Somebody here in the house got an upset stomach? But it show is good
2:09
All right, come on, brown, baby brown. How long do you think this will take to cook, Paula
2:14
Because by this stage... Well, the recipe calls for cooking this for 30 minutes
2:21
I would probably not, I don't like my cabbage gooshy-gooshy, so I probably wouldn't cook the cabbage that long
2:31
And I'm going to add a little water to mine and let it cook
2:35
but you could also use a nice chicken stock if you've got some chicken stock, you know, just laying around
2:43
Now, I'm going to go ahead and put our potatoes in. because, yeah, our potatoes are probably going to take the longest to actually get soft
2:51
So I'm going to put that lid on it, and I'm going to see if that will come to a quick brown
3:00
And you can see I've got hot sauce up here. I've got vinegar
3:04
I've got Dijon mustard, and then I've got a stone ground mustard
3:08
That sausage is so good dipped down in that mustard. so it's that quick and easy y'all
3:18
we just want to let that brown is that it we're just going to sit around and wait
3:22
no we're not going to sit around and wait Gordy because we got magic
3:26
going on we're in a magic kitchen when you come to my kitchen
3:34
it's like the city of Savannah it turns into magic alright so in our cabbage goes So this is it We going to put I going to add just a little bit of water
3:53
not a whole bunch. And then I'm going to add a little salt and pepper
4:00
And if you're feeding children, you may want to be a little light on the pepper
4:04
and the lid goes on and I'm just gonna keep an eye on that
4:15
and we'll let it cook for 20, 25, 30 minutes. Because we live in a magic kitchen
4:23
I've got one ready, y'all. I just don't have anybody to share this meal with
4:31
Oh, pull someone up. Come on. Come on. Pick a friend. Make a new friend
4:37
Make a new friend. You're being so quiet. You know, the quiet ones I usually go after
4:47
What's your name? Bambi. Bambi? Get up here, Bambi. I'm Paula
4:57
Nice to meet you. So nice to meet you, Bambi. Is that your real name
5:02
That's my real name, but I tell everybody it's my stage name. You stay..
5:06
Hey, what do you do after dark? That's my secret. Your secret
5:12
What does she do? I'm a nurse. Oh, y'all think y'all can fix anybody, don't you
5:17
That's my daytime job. Nurses, they think they can fix everybody. That's right
5:22
Little cabbage always helps. You can start with me. Well, welcome to Savannah
5:26
I hope you love her as much as I do. All right, honey, you come right there
5:32
and I going to come right here beside you and you know I can hardly stand it Try it Bambi Eat it I can hardly stand to eat alone honey You know everything is so much better when it shared
5:47
Look at those potatoes. Yum. Eat. All right, there's salt and pepper if you need it
5:55
All right, I think, you know what? I may take a little stone ground
6:00
And vinegar, this vinegar kind of takes the place of your hot sauce
6:07
It's just plain vinegar without peppers. Oh, yeah. Is it good, Bambi
6:13
This is... It's delicious. You're not just saying that because Paula made it? This is, um... Wonderful
6:20
This is a real St. Patrick's Day recipe. And I hear St. Patrick's Day is big in Savannah
6:26
Honey! Savannah holds the second largest celebration of St. Patrick's Day here in the U.S.
6:34
second only to New York City. Wow. And when they start partying, honey
6:40
stand back, get out of the way, or get up on stage
6:45
All you got friends from North Carolina ready to come. Well, thank you so much
6:50
Thank you. And we love you. I love you, too, Bambi. All right
6:55
Thank you, Bambi, baby. Bambi! Bambi! Yes? Take your plate with you, honey, and finish enjoying it
7:03
Thank you, honey. Yum, it's too good to waste. So you never know, whether you live here in Savannah or whether you're visiting
