You put my presents under the tree? Actually, I put, that's my present that I put under the tree
0:24
I like to give gifts to myself. Welcome back to the Paladine Network
0:27
Here we are with my brother Jamie and the Savannah Philharmonic Choir
0:31
Merry Christmas, y'all. Merry Christmas, everybody. Choir, at any point that you feel joyous and you need to sing, please feel free to sing
0:40
Like right now. Angels we have heard on high, sweetly singing o'er the plains
0:49
And the mountains in reply, echoing their joyous strains. Oh. Excuse me
0:59
Let's have some bourbon eggnog, y'all want to? That's fantastic. That makes me
1:08
Eggnog, y'all. Eggnog, everybody. Who likes eggnog? Everybody loves eggnog. Bobby, do you remember when we were boys
1:16
mama would make eggnog, but mama made the kind that still had the raw eggs in it
1:20
Have y'all ever had that? That's like old school. The look on your face when you said that was
1:24
And she'd also load it up with bourbon. So I really look forward to Christmas when I was a kid growing up
1:31
I'll take some bourbon with my salmonella. But we're doing a cooked eggnog
1:37
And two, I remember when we grew up, I used to really like the eggnog out of the carton
1:42
You know, the pre-made when I was a kid was just the best. And if I had any idea how many fat and calories I drank, just because I would just knock it back
1:50
Just standing there chucking on a gallon of eggnog How much eggnog we had at Christmas was in direct relation to us shopping at the Husky Department for jeans and sears That exactly right It not a light beverage All right
2:02
So let's get started. I've got six eggs separated. So we've got our yolks here, and Jamie's got our whites
2:09
and there's a lot of sugar involved in this recipe. It's kind of a process-y thing
2:13
and I guess that's why most people don't make eggnog. But in the end, it's not that difficult
2:18
So if you don't make eggnog at home, we'll show you how to do it today. So the six egg yolks are here
2:23
I'm going to add to that a cup of sugar. And, Jamie, if you will, at any point you want to
2:28
you can go ahead and start to whip the whites and your quarter cup of sugar. And we're going to beat this until it gets soft peaks
2:33
It'll be real frothy, right? The six egg whites, and I'll add my sugar
2:38
and I'm just going to beat the tar out of it. Yep, just beat it up. I've got two cups of milk on the stove warming up
2:47
and I'm going to temper my eggs. This is nice and warm, but it's not boiling
2:52
But I'm going to add some of this warm milk to my eggs and temper them so they don't..
2:57
So you don't have scrambled eggs. No, I don't have scrambled eggs. So you don't have scrambled eggnog. That's exactly right
3:08
That's great. It ain't that great. All right, now my eggs are tempered, and I'm going to add them right back to the milk
3:18
There we go. And we're going to warm this milk and the eggs together
3:24
until it just coats the back of my spoon. Now, it's important that you temper those eggs
3:29
because if you were to put them into the warm milk, it wouldn't curl and it wouldn't be good
3:34
Now, once this begins to coat the back of my spoon, I'm going to put it in a clear glass bowl
3:39
and let it come to a complete cool, and then we'll stick it in the freezer
3:44
and let it get nice and cold, and we'll fold all these things together. What we gonna do with our bourbon today we show you instead of putting it into the whole punch bowl Because you know your kids want to try it too so we just going to add a shot to the adults class It a new age where we don give our children alcohol at Christmas time
4:03
Mama wasn't feeding us bourbon when we were children, y'all. I could have used some bourbon when I was a kid
4:10
When you beat these egg whites, y'all, make sure, like, when you get to your soft peaks, this is perfect
4:16
If you continue to beat it, it'll break back down into a liquid
4:20
So once you get to this point, it's good enough. It's not going to get any better once you get soft peaks
4:26
All right, and this has begun to coat my spoon. So we're going to set this off to the side and let it cool
4:32
You wouldn't want to put that in the freezer right now. Now make sure that it cools down before you put it into your refrigerator or freezer
4:38
But we have a swap. This is what we have, a really nice custard. So we're going to fold these two things in together into our bowl
4:47
See, I got mine. You got yours. Look how light and fluffy that is, like a cloud
4:58
Okay, well, Bobby, while you're folding that in, let's go ahead and fold in a little bit of vanilla too, y'all
5:03
We'll fold this in. Oh, that smells so good. And I'm going to put a little bit of nutmeg in
5:10
I'm going to plane off just a little bit of nutmeg because nutmeg tastes like Christmas, right
5:16
And I'm also going to save some of this. This is a really pretty garnish that we'll put right on top
5:22
I'm not going to forget that. I'm an adult now. We're adults here. Let's see
5:27
One, 1,000, two, 1,000, three, 1,000. One, 1,000, two, 1,000, three, 1,000
5:36
I'm an older adult. Have you got the whipped cream, Jamie? Let's fold in some of that and then reserve just a little bit
5:42
to put right on top for a garnish. Be like a little island in the middle of the eggnog Yeah It like dessert It really is We going to drink it
5:57
With bourbon. With bourbon. Hit it, choir. Bourbon
6:07
Oh, my gosh. Bourbon. Very nice. That was good. Thank you
6:17
It's a Dean Brothers Christmas. Okay, we'll put this into our punch bowl
6:25
How many bowls have we gone through in this eggnog? Five bowls
6:31
Look at that. It's very thick. It is. That bourbon is going to take it right where you want it to be. Mmm
6:44
Mmm. Only 69 cents a serving, y'all. We're going to garnish with a little bit of our nutmeg right on top
6:57
Nothing says Christmas like drinking a glass of bourbon whipped cream. Merry Christmas, y'all
7:07
Mmm. Ah! Good morning. and good night
7:19
Whoo, that's good. This is a little bit thick, y'all, and this bourbon's gonna knock it down for us
7:25
but if you want to cut it a little bit... Bourbon's gonna knock me down. Add some milk
7:29
and you can get it more frothy without the liquor. I'm already drunk, y'all
7:41
Bourbon. you
