Welcome back y'all. In case you've just tuned in, you're in the kitchen with Jamie and his mama
0:07
and we're being real, real soppy and sentimental today because today's show is all about newlyweds
0:14
and Jamie and I both qualify for that, don't we? We sure do
0:19
The next recipe that I want to share with you, if you're courting or if you're a newlywed
0:24
you're going to want to put this recipe in your files. It's so good. It's one of those old, reliable recipes
0:30
and it's called chicken divan. So I have cooked a chicken, and I have picked it clean of skin and bones
0:39
I've got six cups of chicken here. I've got two 10-ounce packages of chopped frozen broccoli
0:47
You'll want to make sure that you drain that good in a colander and press the water out of it
0:52
because you don't want this dish to be... Super wet. No, you don't want it to be real, real watery
0:58
So Jamie, if you would mix up the sauce part, I'm gonna spray our pan
1:04
I'm taking my broccoli and I've squeezed out all the excess water
1:09
And I gonna press that down and then I gonna put my chicken in Okay Jamie you got your mushroom soup you got your mayonnaise
1:19
Cup of mayonnaise, cup of sour cream. Cheddar cheese. I love cheese
1:30
A half a cup of white wine. A tablespoon of lemon juice
1:39
and the key ingredient to chicken divan, and that's going to be one teaspoon of curry powder
1:49
All right, and you'll mix that up. The lemon juice and the wine are going to give it a little sharp flavor
1:58
so it definitely needs some salt and pepper. Don't you think? Whoa. Yeah. Mm-hmm
2:06
that's the wine, but that'll mellow out though as the dish cooks
2:11
All right, now right here I've got a half a cup of grated Parmesan cheese
2:17
and I've got a half a cup of fresh breadcrumbs. And I got a couple of tablespoons of melted butter and I gonna just drizzle that over our cheese and crumbs You could just put slices of butter on top
2:35
but I love mixing mine in so that every one of those crumbs gets some butter
2:43
That curry is a powerful flavor. Curry is very, very powerful, y'all
2:47
If you're not sure if you like it or not, you'll want to add just a little bit at the time
2:52
because it's very, very powerful. You want me to be topping this while you're doing that
2:58
Please, just pour that over our casserole, and then we'll top it with our crumbs
3:02
Okay, if you'll put the crumbs on this, everything in this dish is done
3:07
It's not going to have to cook. It's just going to have to heat all the way through
3:11
and we'll want it hot and bubbly. So we're going to put this in the oven, 350, preheated oven
3:19
and we're going to bake it until it's hot and bubbly, and that'll probably take about
3:23
because of the depth of our dish, it'll probably take about 45 minutes
3:27
That's a thick dish. All right, son, if you wanna put that in the oven
3:31
and I've got another one over here ready to show everybody, just slip this one in and I'll take
3:39
I take this one out Look how pretty that looks
3:50
Now, the thing I like about chicken divan is you can kind of change it around a little bit
3:56
I top this one with fresh breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese, but I have to tell you
4:02
I really, really, really dig my divans topped with like a gruyere or a cheddar
4:09
But there's just something about that cheese. Oh, look at the steam
4:18
But of course, we've got some cheddar cheese inside of it. Does that look good or what
4:26
Gracious. And some yummy rice. and you're all set because you've got your meat
4:35
you've got your vegetables. Yeah, and I'm so full of scallops and shrimp
4:39
I just have to fight through it. I know it, me too
4:45
You take the biggest bite, son. You've got a big mouth. Mmm
4:50
Mmm. Isn't this yummy, son? Mmm, it is so good. Brings back memories
