Candy Corn and Snack Mix Bark

from the leftovers of Halloween. We have some candy corn over here

chocolate candy, snack mix, and Dad, please melt that chocolate. Yes, sir

So what are we going to make, buddy? We are going to make candy corn and snack mix bark

Yum. What do you think about that, Maddie? Tummy. Yummy to your tummy

You don't really eat the candy anyway, do you? Uh-uh. But it'll be good

So remember, we're going to put down our paper. Let's get cooking, y'all. So we've got a pan that we're going to use

Jack has got a skeleton costume. It's got a sock that fits over his face

He loves it. It's his favorite. Maddie couldn't decide between the ninja, as you can see, he's a ninja, to his bones, right

Or the fireman costume. So we decided to go with the fireman costume

because he's got the boots, he's got the helmet, he's got the real thing, and it says Jack on it

Mama bought it for Jack when he was a little baby. And Brooke and I were sailors

because that the last costumes they had that would fit me so my wife had to be a sailor too Okay buddy that good This is a delicious snack mix and if you have any leftover candy for us you know we so lucky

that Jack is always like fruit more than he's like candy, but this one..

Cake. Oh, I was wrong. We forgot cake. We have to keep our candy at the house under lock and key

Can I start? I'm going to do it, baby, because it's hot. Because this is sitting on top of steam

We've got boiling water in our glass bowl. No, I'm not going to take this cake over. It's hot

And we're going to melt down our white chocolate. So if anything we can do to get rid of the candy at our house, we're all for it

And this is a delicious snack that we're going to break into bark, and we can send it to Jack's school, and he can share it with all his friends

For our Halloween party? Yep. Well, actually, that was yesterday. The most important rule in our family is that we do not tell a lie

And yesterday was not Halloween. And Jack cannot get it straight that yesterday was supposed to be Halloween

Because he knows good and well that yesterday was not Halloween. So we're going to have a problem with that

But we're going to pretend that yesterday was Halloween. This steam is really super hot, so don't touch it, okay

So we're just going to let this melt down. Give it a few minutes. Be real careful because you know if it's hot enough to melt that chocolate

it'll really burn your hands. And I've found in the 30 years I've been in the kitchen, a steam burn is way worse than a heat burn

You should probably use an oven mitt, right? That's why you get married, boys

Never occurred to me to get a hand mitt or a towel

And looky there. This is really the best thing for toddlers

Can't put the candy in my hand. It's kind of a mix of everything together. What about me

I like it. What about me Even big kids Can put it in Mama Even old guys like me Dad go put in One second baby Let spread this out This is my favorite part

Jack, bang, bang. Hold it by the paper and bang it down. There you go, buddy

And now we get to put the toppings in. This is the best part. Let your kids do it. Try to keep your hands out of that because it's hot

Maddie, put anything you want down. You can spread it around. You can do it one piece at a time

You can put your trail mix in there or your chocolate bars. I love these little Rice Krispies chocolate bars

I know. Don't get the chocolate from Mom. We've got coconut and almond

Yeah, we've just taken a lot of the bars that the boys got, and we've broken them down

So anything that you have candy-wise, you can stick in here. And, you know, when I was a kid

used to get a piece or two every time you'd go to a house. Today, it's incredible the amount of candy

that our two boys have gotten. Way more candy than they should eat in a year

So anytime you can use a lot of your candy up pretty quickly right after Halloween

it's a good tip for parents. So take all their candy, break it down, turn it into a snack

and then you can give them a little piece at a time. You can keep this in the freezer or you can keep it in the refrigerator

but our plan is for Jack to share this with all his friends. Out of sight, out of mind

Jack, you're not supposed to eat it, baby. It goes in there. But it looks so good

We learned to eat those on a road trip, didn't we? What? Ooh, candy corn

You like it? Candy corn is Mama's favorite. I might say it, too

And you have to put this in the refrigerator for one, for two hours or one

I don't know. Whatever you suggest. Let's go with until it sets
